Betcha these are actually sharp and will cut rather than pull. Betcha the springs won’t stick either. Old used up trimmers blow. I went almost a year with three of these. All three are shot. Lmao.

I also got this bad boy today, and here’s the tie-in to the grow, lol…when we catch tilapia here, which is pretty frequent, the instructions from the Florida Fish and Game Commission are to “dispose” of the fish. They’re considered invasive and a negative species as they weed out the good fish eating their young. And unless you get a big one who is feeling frisky (rare - not the big but the frisky) they’re pretty much like reeling in a log. In other words, they suck and I have no problem killing them. To this point I have always fed them to this one four foot tall bird who has figured out that when I go out there with a rod it may well mean a fish dinner. I toss it anywhere near him but far enough away from me and he spears it in seconds and takes off. That’s cool and fun, but this happens with frequency.

What can I harvest from these tilapia that would be good for my plants? Anything? The scales?

Weird question, I know. Lol.

The entire thing! Have I taught you nothing? We even went around on the topic in one of your past journals.

By mixing equal parts of fish and brown sugar by weight (with a little bit of microbes) and letting it sit for a while (months) you end up with FAA (Fish Amino Acid), one of the best of the organic fertilizers.

Lmao! Yes I remember now. That’s so funny. I wonder if I said then what I say now - are you even a little bit serious? I need that bad enough to keep rotting fish around somewhere for months?

Platinum Mimosa Cookies XXL Auto
Day 41

Yup, she’s an XXL alright. I swear these things are like fish. They’ll get as big as the environment will allow as long as you keep feeding them. Lmao.

Here’s how she looked six days ago. Note the position/height of the light using back wall as reference.

And here’s how she looks today. I’ve had to raise the light twice cuz she won’t stop growing. Lol. What a problem to have. She’s now about 6-8 inches below the light getting hit with about 1200 ppfd. I haven’t and am not engaging the flower booster on my light this time. I can’t. If I do I can’t use it for veg. Too red. So normal full spectrum which is fine. But that means the wattage stays at 550 instead of the 680 I’d have if the flower booster was engaged. Thus her proximity to the light. At 680 she’d be too close. Note also her prayer angle. She’s loving life.

Get a half gallon mason jar, put your stuff in it and put the lid on but not screwed down tightly. Stick it in a corner out of the way and out of direct sun. You'll never know it was there.

You know, for when your other nutrients run out...

Ok cool. And who is going to chop the fish up? Not this guy. Lol!

Certainly Jon! In the Jadam book are recipe's for fish emulsion. One made from water and one another way I don't recall now. If you're interested I can take a pic?
Edit: I see Azi has the scoop I was talking about.

Man, you're a little high maintenance on this stuff, huh? :p

You can put the damn fish in whole if you want. Not ideal, but it will still work.
You didn’t say to take my skirt off. Is that part of this too? I gotta put my big boy pants on? Lmao.

I figured your game out here. You wouldn’t do this and keep rotting fish around all over the place in a million years. You just wanna see if you can get me to do it and display it in the journal. Then you get to post your oh-so-clever laughing face emojis and stuff. I have you pegged Azi.

Ok. Ok. You got me. Would've been a fun pic, though! :p

Auto/Veg Tent Update
White Widow Auto
Day 1
Platinum Mimosa Cookies XXL Auto Day 47

White Widow Auto
Original Harvest

I’m a dad again! Yay! This White Widow has given me the (for me) rare perfect sprout. I didn’t have to remove a seed coat, or the clear skin wrap inside the seed coat, which I find to be the case more frequently in coco than in soil. I have two perfect and equal sized little cotyledons. I have excellent color. Yay again! Love me a perfect sprout.

With her pot and bucket setup, her roots will hit the bottom of the pot in a week or so if not sooner. As soon as they do I fill the res. This means it’ll be my first try using this lazy man’s hydro method where I intentionally have the plant in the water very early in veg. This should, in a perfect world, create a beast of an auto, based on how big the first one got in straight coco. That one was 11+ ounces. It’s also (I now know) not weed that turns out as dense as rocks. Plenty dense, but not like the Mac and Jack for example. I know how long it takes to dry the way I trained and the colas I produced last time. This time we’re going with the less is more approach, and hopefully end up with a nice Christmas tree and bigger colas, as she is not a plant where I need worry about mold simply from the density of the bud. Depends on her level of cooperation and what she tells me before the fourth node is out. But assuming her voluntary participation, I’m going to go with Sombrero Quad training and an 8-cola lower ring. That ought to make a big Christmas tree. I know what happened with the first one of these. Wait til you guys see this plant go nuts in water.

Growers Choice

Once this plant’s roots had enough root mass in the water, she took off like a crazy woman. She is now beastly as hell. This plant would fill my 3x3, easy. She’s quite a large auto. But what I’m most pleased with is how well the training style has translated into exactly what I was going for, ie, lots of long stems below the many main colas and lots of long stemmed side branching off those mains. The obvious theme is long stems everywhere. This is easier said than done. You have to finish the training as early as possible, you have to have a plant that likes to stretch (sativas work great), and you have to be selective about what you remove, but definitely not shy about it. Took me a few tries to get to an understanding on this point. But understanding that the plant is almost always going to grow *roughly* symmetrically, and that includes where the nodes come up on branches pulled way out to the side, is helpful.

Here’s our girls:

The last seeds for the final entry to this grow have shipped (Thanks NASC!). In a few days we will start our third auto of the grow.

Banana Daddy Rbx2 Autoflower
Ethos Genetics

My first try with an Ethos auto. I have yet to find a seedbank who makes better photos.

Here’s what Seedfinder says about this strain:

Banana Daddy Auto is an automatic flowering ruderalis/indica/sativavariety from Ethos Genetics and can be cultivated indoors and outdoors where the female, autoflowering plants need ±75 days from the seedling to the harvest. Ethos Genetics' Banana Daddy Auto is a THC dominant variety and is/was only available as feminized seeds.

Ethos Genetics' Banana Daddy Auto Description

ethos.jpg
Ethos_Genetics_-_Banana_Daddy_Auto_thumb.jpg
Banana Daddy Auto Rbx2 from Ethos Genetics is an exciting feminized autoflowering cannabis hybrid created by crossing the auto version of Ethos's own Banana Hammock with the legendary US classic Grand Daddy Purple, resulting in a fast, fragrant, flavourful and highly productive autoflower variety.

Banana Hammock Auto x Grand Daddy Purple
The autoflowering version of Banana Hammock is the mother of this variety, an Indica/Sativa hybrid that combines Grape God (God Bud x Grapefruit) with one of Ethos Genetics' favourite varieties to work with: Mandarin Sunset (Orange Velvet x Herijuana) and results in a vigorous and productive plant offering a pungent cocktail of terpenes with tropical fruit, honey and grape aromas and a very potent effect.

The other half of this hybrid is Grand Daddy Purple and should need little introduction, a staple of the US west coast cannabis scene. A cross between the Cali cut of Purple Urkle and Big Bud, producing a heavy-yielding and hard-hitting Indica hybrid with rock hard, resin-coated buds and a distinctive grape and red berry flavour.

Banana Daddy Auto Rbx2 - Fast Flowering & 27% Total Cannabinoids
This automatic cannabis hybrid is easy to cultivate and grows vigorously from the very beginning, reaching a medium height. The full life-cycle from germination to harvest is from 70 to 80 days and ends in a heavy harvest of fat, resinous and terpene-rich flowers, with a total cannabinoid content of 27%!

The aromas and flavours are predominantly floral and reminiscent of sweet grapes and sandalwood. The effect is physically relaxing but mentally focussed with a euphoric high.

So there’s more than you needed to know about the strain. I’m psyched about it. Since we had to kill the Tropicanna Banana photo, this will be my first “banana” plant.

And now that you are about to take the plunge with making your own fish nutes, did you know you can do the same thing with bananas? Helpful as a flowering compliment. You know, to help you round out your nute line as you convert over. :laughtwo:

Ok @Azimuth, now we’re in reality land. So are you serious? All I have to do is mash up a banana and seal it in a container with what? Do I use the peels? The seed? (Or whatever that thing is at the bottom, lol?). How long? Then what? Got a link? This I would actually do.
