Mac and Jack
Flower Day 35
On @Prescription Blend and Feeding
Haven’t talked about feeding in a while. So this might be the healthiest plant to this point in the grow that I have ever grown. She is flawless and robust and hasn’t the slightest blemish. Perfect color. Etc…
I ask myself why.
I’ve been using Prescription Blend for quite a while now almost exclusively. I’ve expounded before on my love for the system. At this point I know how to tweak it. For example: there is only one ingredient which gets added to the mix when flowering begins - Big Data. On the PB feed chart you begin at 4 ml/gal, go up to 6, and end up at 5 over the weeks of flowering. I don’t do it that way anymore. 4 or 5. Is that difference really going to burn my plant? No. And now I know the answer really is no. I simply keep it at 5 the entire time of flower in the base mix. Another example: I believe I can read the plants enough now to kind of know when they can take a feed increase. When I determine that it’s time for that, I simply increase the potency of my base mix. Evenly across the board always, I don’t just give more of one ingredient. It’s the balance between the ingredients that is the magic of PB. So when I want more I mix at say 120% of base mix.
Once you learn a system well you can do all kinds of stuff. PB works especially well with any microbial additives. This plant has gotten periodic shots of Fox Farms Microbe Brew (about every two weeks for a day of feeding on top of base mix, mixed right in with the nutes). Also has gotten two top dressings of bokashi/frass blend, and last night got her third bokashi/frass tea feeding (that I do separately from regular feed). All of these simply add microbes to the mix, and since every watering in coco is to runoff it’s good to replenish. The plants seem to universally respond well to this, and the Mac and Jack surely has. I didn’t use the Fox Farms Flower Kiss foliar product on this girl, but I have before and it doesn’t cause any problems paired with PB either.
On top of all that, once she had buds, every single feeding has contained 20 ml of Terpinator, along with an every other feeding a 15 ml shot of Fox Farms Bembe. I also occasionally give 30 ml of actual unsulphured blackstrap organic molasses. All of these just add carbs and therefore sugar, but the PB system is flexible enough to toss any and all of this right on top of the base mix.
She eats a gallon a wake-up and another around 2 pm. Each time I runoff around 15%. Enough to overflow the lower catch tray.
This as described above is every day until harvest.
And there you have at least my opinion as to why this plant is ultra healthy, from the feeding perspective.
Prescription Blend! And the Ethos genetics don’t hurt either. Heh.
Here’s the healthy beast in full bloom.
