Jon's New Pared Down Setup Soil Grow: 3 Photo & 1 Auto With New Dedicated Auto Rig

Beautiful colors! These buds just look like they will be tasty!
I really really dig the leaf on the left side of the very last picture. It's beautiful. I get stoned in the morning after I walk the puppy and feed her and then the plants are awake (5 am since DST, used to be 6 damnit...lol) and I check on them. Invariably I get lost staring at leaves. There's so much damn color overall everywhere now that the Ghost finally decided to show her starving. When I harvest I'll post some pics of the overall stems/buds on some of those super low branches that got less light than the upper buds. It's really quite surprising, when I pulled one down to see what was up with it I was pleasantly almost shocked. In part a tribute to the penetrating power of the light. I do wonder if they would have been showing these same colors if I had gone normal/conservative on the nighttime temps, say if I went from maybe 76 by day to 68 by night. I have yet to find a truly scientific study on the specific relationship between cold and color, including when it's most effective, how it might be manipulated to get max color, how it affects terpene and trichome production, etc....everyone seems to have partial answers sort of a little bit not at all in some cases.....lol. But regardless, the colors make me happy as hell even though I'm well aware of what they represent. And your, as I characterize it, "slight change of heart" on starving them at the end in certain circumstances post a few weeks back was not lost on me either. Sure are damn pretty. Besides, I didn't have to make the call - the FF chart sort of gradually starves them out anyway.

God, if they're half as tasty as they appear they will be and I don't screw up the dry and cure I should be a happy camper.

@Jon - I’m with @Emilya ! Beautiful colors you have there! Like I got in there with my airbrush!
Funny you say that, I almost tossed that into my response to E just now. The leaf on the left in the last picture looks like you could have airbrushed exactly that.

I'm in the Czech Republic and the only thing I can find here is www.canna.com they also have some organic fertilizers. Maybe it will be something like that
I use Canna. You'll have good results with them I would think. I loved them especially in veg.

It should be similar to Fox Farm and do you have experience with their substrates?
Not Canna substrates but I use FF soil as my base blend for soil grows

Ne substráty Canna, ale používám půdu FF jako základní směs pro pěstování půdy

Hi fellow growers, I have a question. I let the plants dry for 4 days and then I watered them and it happened to me that some plants pulled my plants out more after the watering, you don't know what it is? Thanks for the advice.

Not sure what you mean by this: and it happened to me that some plants pulled my plants out more after the watering,

Can you re-explain that please?

Also Kanno, what power level is your light at? That puppy is awfully close to those plants for the stage of budding they are in.

They are in the second week of flowering and the light is running at 100% and it's 600w. How should I have the light far?

Ok, I just checked out all the specs on your specific light. Dude, that's a powerful, professional light. At 100% power you are SLAMMING those plants with light, which is fine, but in my opinion, you're WAY too close to the plants. That MAY be why you're yellowing. That's often the first sign of too much light. In my experience, as close as you are is for late late budding only....you gotta let the buds develop before you can hit them with that much ppfd or you'll yellow them and bleach them out and cause yourself all kinds of problems. I'd put that light about 18" from the tops at this point and see how they do. I would continue to run the light at 100% but RAISE that puppy, please!

This is only my opinion and experience. I would strongly suggest you get a second and third opinion. Shed knows his light pretty well, so does Rexer, Otter and Bill among many others you'll see here. (not to leave any of you guys who also know a little about light out, lol). They may say something different, but I kind of doubt it in this particular case.

I couldn't find a par chart on your light. Did it come with one? If so, can you post a picture of it? That would help a lot. That light puts out 2.7 uMols and 1650 ppfd at the height you have it at. Your plants will burn within days. Honestly I would raise it right this second. Lol.

Again, please ask for other opinions. I don't want to feel responsible for anything that happens......at least not by myself. Lol.

Don't worry, Kanno, we'll get you straightened out.

What DID you mean with this line?

By that I meant that some of the plants grew taller than the others. I'll try to find that graph of light.

Oh, ok, that's what I thought you meant. No worries there. Some plants will grow faster than others. Each one is different, even if they come from the same seed pack. It would be very rare for you to get the same rate of growth on each plant.

Ok I found it. This is what I was looking for:
Lumatek-Zeus-600w-Pro-PAR-Map.jpg

These are the numbers you'll get at 16" above your tops in your size tent. These numbers are decent for the stage of budding you're at. Some might even say these are a bit high in the 900s but I personally think these numbers will work for where you're at. So I guessed 18" and this chart is telling us go 16" above your tops.

That would be my strongly stated advice. !6 to 18 inches above your tops with the light at 100%.

Yeah I had already found that. I'm looking for par charts, where they show you blocks with numbers in them.
Nevermind! I see you found it too!

Kanno, take note of these numbers. Check out the dropoff in your numbers near the edges and corners. It's pretty significant. This happens with almost every light out there to some extent. You can mitigate this a bit by concentrating your plants in the center of the tent as much as possible. If you check out where my pots are in the outdoor auto rig, you'll see I have all four plants pushed as close together into the center of the field as I can while still allowing them air flow. I do that to take advantage of exactly what this chart shows - the light dropoff towards the edges. Don't rip your plants off from light. Take advantage of every photon.

Ok, thanks for the advice, I'm sure I'll do something about it, and do you think I should pick up the smaller plants?

You can if you want to. I do that. Just make sure you don't use a cardboard box or something that'll get soft in the environment to prop them up on, use something solid. I use bricks a lot. I like to try and keep all the tops at the same level as much as I can. If you do, just bring the shorter ones up to the same level as the tallest one. Don't bring the tallest ones any higher.
