Trichomes and Buds
Day 87

Lights go out at 2 am. At that point this Sour Apple goes into a closet for the night and then another 24 hours, then she gets the chop. The trichomes are telling me chop, and the buds are telling me chop. She'll keep on tossing out white pistils that'll turn red forever at this point, but she's not really going to pack on any more weight. This plant is ready. I also happened to nail the watering so that she goes into the dark almost completely dry. My theory is that the drier she is when she hits the dark, the more she's apt to do in those 36 hours.

And there we go. A finished Sour Apple. She'll be 89 days old from breaking ground when I chop her and hang her up.

By far the longest finisher of any Sour Apple I have grown. Frostiest plant I ever grew of any type. Dense as rocks. Stinks up the entire lennai, which is a big space. Smells like candy and dankness, nothing I would describe as specifically apple smelling. But the sweet candy smell is very pronounced. It smells like the hard crust on a candy apple without the apple smell. Best I can do on the smell. On all counts this is the best Sour Apple I have grown yet, and most of the credit goes to the Sohum. It's why I used Sohum for all the autos in the outdoor grow. It certainly didn't hurt that she got to bud for her last month under the @Mars Hydro FC6500 either. And Ph'ing every drop of water she ever got to 6.3 was key as well. This plant showed zero signs of deficiency or over nute-ing the entire grow. And I pumped her up pretty good with additives once budding was well underway. I gave this plant Seaweed, Molasses, Terpinator, and an occasional CalMag plus Iron shot, plus one shot of Open Sesame and one shot of Cha-Ching from the Fox Farm line. All of it worked, which means simply that I got lucky, although I did use Sohum information to determine the approximate right time to add the additives. She'll need some cleaning up as I'm certain to have other friends in the buds here and there that I couldn't see and remove.

One plant of this grow down, four to go. There's a good Chunky porn post next.

Chunky the Chunkadelic Auto Check In
Day 87

This plant is going to pass 100 days. Based on these pictures, no way is she ready in 13 days. Wow. She just keeps getting fatter and fatter, it's uncanny. I keep waiting for her to start to curl and become real buds but she just keeps doing what you see in the pictures. And note the tops on these. They are all but one doing that exact thing. Weird straight, foxtailesque growth right out of the bud tops, almost like a last gasp of extra growth. Weird. But cool. Possibly a response to the @Mars Hydro FC6500, as it appears to be buds reaching to the light for more. They must have really enjoyed the spectrum is my theory. I really have no idea what this plant will do at this point. She's exhausted the Canna for Autos feeding chart, so I am repeating week 10 of that until the flush they recommend at the end. Other than that I have no idea what to do for her. I alternate Canna week 10 with clean water and every 3rd watering I give her seaweed, molasses, and Terpinator.

Porn:

Pictures 1-4 are four bud tops, 3 of which show the odd top growth, 1 of which does not.
Pictures 5-7 are three shots of the towers, showing the odd tip growth I'm talking about and fattening up.

Grow Day 86
Flower Day 16

Are you starting to see the vision of the scrog without the scrog? Or as I think of It, a scrog from underneath using stakes instead of a net to achieve essentially the same purpose, only on a plant by plant basis so they can be rotated?

This is pretty much it. As often as I visualized this, I honestly had no idea it would turn out this well. Lucky. Sometimes being lucky is better than being good.

Today the GTH and Hulkberry both began Week 7 of the Fox Farms feeding chart, which I amended with seaweed and Terpinator. Sunday the get the second prescribed flush as directed on the chart. The Slurricane, in Sohum, is getting clean water with seaweed and Terpinator. What an odd smell, seaweed and banana. Yuck. Their environment remains as consistent as ever, 72-76 by day, 66-70 overnight, humidity between 40% and 60%. These plants, if nothing else, have had the most consistent environment since Day 1 that I have ever given a grow. That's gotta help.

ADDENDUM POST

The Sour Apple is in the dark on her day 88 and will get chopped tomorrow morning on her day 89. She's in the most far away room of the house in a closed closet with the door to the room shut. This plant stinks up the entire house anyway. I'm in the garage, easily 50 feet away through the house and hallways and closed doors and such, and I can smell the plant right now. Jesus. I could have worse problems. But man, the housemates are going to have a thing or two to say when they get up, that's for sure. Lol.

Hey Jon, we been saying high in the hallways lol. Gonna catch a ride.
Hey Dusty, cool, and thanks! I've been admiring your work from a little afar, but consistently. I have many I watch to some extent but hell, who has time to comment on everyone you see, right? Your plants are beautiful, super healthy, and obviously have had hands that truly care on them. Are you allowed to mention the light you use? Anyway, thanks for stopping by, enjoy the show. The 100 hours of training I put in on these three plants should really begin to pay off now.

I may pepper you with 10,000 questions about this or that, just be forewarned, lol. I'm like that. When I see someone who knows what the F they're doing, I want to learn from that person, and I can definitely learn something from you. Lemme know if I ever ask something in your thread that is better asked in a conversation or elsewhere, I don't wanna clog anything up with my selfish need to compile knowledge.

We are all here to learn, questions should be asked. I will answer to the best of my ability. If i dont know, we can learn together.

Nice, thank you.

Slurricane Example
Grow Day 86
Flower Day 16

16 days into flower is a little earlier than I would normally defoliate, but these guys are very bushy due to how they were trained, and they were bushy enough that I went ahead and did it today. I hope it won't be necessary again, but we'll see what's up in a couple weeks. Here's the Slurricane as the example, I did the same thing to the other two but it's not necessary to show all three again today. She's all opened up with awesome air flow through the plant, and every viable bud is getting direct light and you can see them pretty much all in the picture. At the same time there is still plenty of leaf mass to power the plant. I was fairly happy with this defol. I have yet to take off any underneath branches that aren't going to make the cut. There's maybe two or three of those. I usually wait til after the stretch for that cuz sometimes a branch you think is nothing can surprise you in the stretch and add a bud.

I'm taking a bit of pride in this girl. Almost a perfect outer ring and almost equal center growth mass. Everything lit up like a Christmas tree. The leaves of this plant are a darkish green that's almost purple, which doesn't show that well in the pictures cuz of the reds in my light. But you can see it's darker than the other two. I just finished a dispensary eighth of Slurricane that was 28.7% THC. First time I ever smoked the strain I'm growing, lol. Good indica, heavy, very sweet and flowery, excellent weed for pain. Now I'm doubly glad I selected this strain. This plant will destroy the crappy, dried out, barely any smell or taste, machine trimmed, fast dried and cured, overpriced, and generally lame dispensary weed. All of it. In the entire state. That's not bragging, that's ragging on the dispensary system here, which only allows for each dispensary to grow their own in their own facilities. So there's like 9 or 10 different dispensaries here, and all of them produce 100% of their products in their own facilities, which are then tested there and also by a third independent party. The state does not allow anyone to go and grab some weed from some outside state or source and then resell it to us, as they should and do in other states. The politicians get very very little right in this horrid state. So that's all well and good as long as the person who leads the grows in those facilities knows what they're doing. In this state that is not the case. It blows. I can outgrow most of these guys, and I literally know nothing. PLEASE give me those facilities and turn me loose!!!!!!!!!! Again, not bragging, RAGGING. The lead grower for a dispensary should laugh me out of the building. You should see some of the garbage they sell here. And you Canadian friends, from what I understand, the dispensary system in Canada sucks bad too, cuz the government is way too all over it and only cares about money. Is that about right? I feel for you, but at least you're allowed to grow and it's federally (or nationally, whatever word is appropriate there) accepted as non-criminal. God I hate the dispensaries. I really hope this is the grow that allows me to get over the hump of having to spend money at them. It's simply a question of yield. Lol.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Apparently I had some dispensary angst to get off my chest. Lmao.

Here's the Slurricane post defoliation. The other two plants look pretty much the same. Have a great week.

Great job on that frosty Sour Apple. All your plants look fantastic Jon- you've plenty of reasons to be proud. Luck can only carry you so far, and I think you've gone past that.

PERSONAL POST

Hi Guys. This is a personal post but also a grow post, because on both counts my life is about to change significantly for the better. I just bought this:

I mean that exact one. It arrives Wednesday. The features will allow me to see my plants from overhead whenever I want. They will also allow me much greater vertical access for larger outdoor plants or even larger tent plants. My options just multiplied by a million.

Oh, and I'll be able to do my own dishes, my own laundry, make my own bed, and LOOK PEOPLE IN THE EYE AT EYE LEVEL. If you don't know a handicapped person in a wheelchair, trust me when I tell you that for ALL of us, constantly having to look up at people to talk to them gets way old.

I don't know if I can make you guys understand what a life changing event this is, but I'm sharing it with you guys anyway. I'm literally crying tears of joy right now.

That's all.

I spent 6 months in a wheelchair when I was a kid. It doesn’t compare to your situation, but I know what the confinement feels like & I remember the joy of reclaiming some independence when I graduated to crutches for the next 18 months. Congrats on the new chair! I’m very happy for you. And now we’re gonna get better pics? Can’t wait!

Thanks Rexer. I wasn't trying to make anyone cry. Lol. Mine tears were joyful as hell. Guess yours were too. And I appreciate the hell out of that.
