Jon's Dedicated Fruity Pebble Cookies Grow Plus The Mystery Plant

Fulvia

This is about all I can get in a frame if I want to show you the overall….I don’t even know what. This is beyond the realm of my experience. I’m working my ass off on supports every morning and trying to figure out how to get to that mass of brown leaves underneath that needs to come but is exactly in the center of the damn tent, lol. Defol is rather difficult, to say the least. Anyway, Fulvia…..good god. And this tent stinks almost all the way to the street. Maybe time to replace my filter next grow - this is my original one. Not as effective as she used to be. My boy Gonzy stopped by yesterday and said he parked his van on the street, took a few steps to the driveway, (it’s only a little more than two cars long to the street), and got hit with dankness. Lmao. So here’s today:

A sad day for us in the peanut gallery as that means some of the pretty pictures will be no more. You're probably happy about it since the harvest is the whole reason for growing the stuff in the first place.

Sooooo, I guess congratulations are in order. :thumb:

Thanks Azi and yeah I guess sort of. She was a few days early. But I made the dumb move of trying to adjust the circle of twine, not realizing just how much that was what was keeping the canopy upright. As soon as I cut it I got rained on with all the top buds. I knew the stems were too thin. Alas, it is what it is. The buds are stinky, dense, covered in trichomes, and just beginning to turn amber, so if nothing else it should be as strong as the plant had to give in terms of thc - I’m basically all white. I had no choice anyway, once they rained down half of them bent 180 degrees, ie, they ain’t coming back up from that, lol. So I took the tops. There’s *maybe* 2 ounces dried and trimmed hanging? Maybe another ounce n the plant still. We knew this wasn’t a yield exercise, so I have my fingers crossed on the taste and buzz. The visual and frost are in place.

Here’s a trimmed up tester bud of the Spud Bud for you @Azimuth - you can see she’s not way too early by any means, maybe just a day or three. Not the worst thing, cuz now the two stars of the show have room to boogie.

Hi guys - here’s my dilemma. The top of Titan is ready to harvest, all the way down to the lowest ring. That ring, however, could use a few more days. So the obvious answer is a partial harvest. But…if I do that I take away the 36 hours of dark thing. So the question is, do I let the tops go a few days long til the bottoms are done, and then 36 hour dark her, OR do I take the tops now at peak ripeness (for me) and let the bottoms stay, sacrificing the dark time?

@Emilya? @Bill284? @Azimuth? @InTheShed? @Braddah Waiheesohai? @Stunger? @Rexer? @Farmer Reading? And anyone else I forgot to tag?? I am actively seeking opinions here. What would you guys do?

I harvested for years without the dark period without complaints.
I also let the whole plant finish now, before harvest and let sit 36 hr.
Personally I just wait till it's all ready and chop it all.
But your situation may call for a different approach.
If the tops are so ripe waiting will create sleep medication then chop.
If your busy and the timing isn't right wait.
Weigh the benefits against the down side and see what is best.
I know that didn't help.
Hope your good Mucker.

Stay safe:cool:

Yeah it did @Bill284. If nothing else it reiterated what I already know. Thanks.

Fulvia and Elora Pictures

The Spud Bud partial harvest also allows for better photography of Fulvia. These two plants are so beyond silly I don’t even know what to say. I’m praying I don’t screw it up between now and harvest. Some of these long Fulvia branches are just like what you see below the very tops all the way down! I’m talking 2-2.5 foot long buds. Huge. I don’t even know where I’m going to be able to hang the branches yet!

Hi Jon, I am no expert to speak on this. I have never done a dark period either, altho it is something I'd happily try out if it were possible, but however it's not in my situation. The main thing to me, would be to prioritise ripeness, and then do a partial or whole chop accordingly and fit whatever from that into a dark period.
From my recent grow, I didn't notice any major difference between upper/lower buds. There could have been, but my eyesight up close is not too flash these days. However I am all for taking partial harvests if you spot some that looks like it wants to go longer, then why not do a partial and sacrifice some of the dark period if you have to. Just my 2 cents.

Beautiful Fulvia colas btw, they're looking great.

I'd take the uppers now. The whole darkness thing is a marginal improvement at best, and maybe bro science at worst.

I'd treat the darkness thing as an opportunity to try on them if everything else lined up. Otherwise I'd do my normal practice.

But, easy for us to lob opinions from the cheap seats. You're driving the bus, so ultimately you have to make the call.

FWIW > No matter how careful I am with lollipopping I usually have a plant (or 2) that has a few "less than a bowlful" buds on the bottom that technically aren't ready.

They don't get hung but still are dried slowly and used as testers.

Keep in mind, I'm a lightweight ;) and a bowlful and a bit is usually enough for an evening but I can't really tell the difference in potency between those bottom buds and anything from the top of the plant !

No dark period but hang in the dark...

Cheers

You gotta do what you got to do. If penetration has made it so that the uppers have gotten done first, by all means stagger the harvest. If this means no dark for part or all of it, so be it... that is not a crisis, it is only a trick that we use when we can.

Wow, thanks all you guys who offered an opinion, I greatly appreciate your input. I just looked again and have made the decision. We’re taking the tops now.

Here’s the tops:

And the entire bottom ring looks like this:

Pretty clear cut in this case I think. We’ll save the 36 hours of dark for another plant. I’ll post pics in a bit. The colas are so big and dense they’re getting wet trimmed so I’ll show you that at least. Thanks again guys!

This is one of the two Titan colas. The nute bottle for scale is one of the large Prescription Blend bottles.

For anyone just tuning in….
This is an auto.

Speechless.
