Jon's Dedicated Fruity Pebble Cookies Grow Plus The Mystery Plant

Hey @Jon! I see you're as busy as ever it just took me an hour to catch up. I can't get over how big Titan is, and your Jack auto too. Titan looks like a photo. Amazing.

Your hunch was correct, light definitely leaks through the foam in your a/c unit. I checked mine a few weeks ago. It's enough to be a concern.

I've been running all my lights at or slightly above the factory recommendations. I'm still getting a feel for them.

I decided to take your advice and top the Mimosa Lemon 4 days ago, she's now day 28. I'm thinking of bending her over, let me know what you think.

I think I know what you're gonna say lol

My first Strawberry Banana seed never broke ground. It cracked and I planted it with about 1/4 inch tap root. After 3 days I tried to find it and never did. But the 2nd one broke ground today so hopefully we're on our way. Have a great rest of your day!
Hi @BubbaKush909! Thanks for hanging in there for an entire hour!!!

Yep, I suspected as much. Got it covered. Easy peasy. You saw the post.

Ok, well, run them on full spectrum with reds and blues at whatever height they recommend for flower. That's my suggestion. You are obviously in flower. You absolutely need as close to full spectrum as you can give them now, and lots of it.

The Mimosa Lemon looks great! And you topped it just in time. See how it's grown out and already you're going to have two main colas instead of one? If you didn't get it in time I always fear it won't grow out adequately like yours are. As far as bending her over - I would not do that. She's well into flower now. In my opinion, your time for that level of LST is over. However....it's not at all too late to pull branches to the side a bit and get them out a little wider. The way you have this girl right now, if it were me, I would let her go as she is and let those two colas get tall and be your main two big colas. Then, with each and every other branch, ie, your branches at nodes 1 - 4, think what you could have if you pulled the two buds from node 4 down and held them there until nodes 1 - 3 caught up to them - you can very easily create an almost perfect ring down lower that way which should be relatively clear of the main two big colas. It would be your "sub-canopy" if you will. That way all the buds on that ring will be approximately the same size because they'd be getting relatively equal light, and your two mains can grow unfettered and hog all the light they want cuz they're basically inside the ring. Pretty much how Titan is trained, with fewer tops. I topped every side branch almost on Titan in addition to the mains. You would end up with something similar and in my opinion that would outyield just leaving everything below the main two colas as is. Not that you would be going wrong at this point to just let her go as is, she'll still be nice it looks like. There's two cents on that.

Hey at least one Strawberry Banana is up! I have like one small half a bud left of mine. Lol. First one to go because I couldn't stay off it. Too tasty. Good luck!

Hope that helps. Great job on the topping and the ML. Don't be timid with autos is one potential lesson to be learned here perhaps, yes? This one didn't give you enough time, but Titan gave me 36 days!! Think you could have topped some side branches with two weeks longer to train than the ML gave you? Ha!!!

Nice work man, enjoy your evening. Thank you.

Hey @Carmen Ray, thanks for the post! I am always more than willing to help if I am capable of it, and yes, of course I'll give you my two cents. You can post your pics here too if you like, I don't at all mind. It helps everyone learn and that's really the main point of the entire site imho. Certainly my first reason for being here. Besides, I show my plants WAY too often anyway, the few who stop in here would probably appreciate it. Whatever you like man, just tag me in the post so I don't miss it, okay? Thanks!
Thank you Jon. I posted in my journal, as I'd like to have a central repository for the info I need so it is easier to refer to. The link is in my signature, the winter grow one.

Thanks @Carmen Ray. Now you're in trouble, I'm "following" your grow. Whenever you post I'll get an email. Don't worry, I'm just one stalker among many. Lol!!

Some Monday Morning Scale Pictures

I just have two pictures this morning.

This is what I see when I open the back side tent door and look exactly horizontally to my right.
Eye level picture of the garden, as it were.

This is a shot for scale, measured next to a Fulvia cola that is not the tallest nor the shortest. This is kind of the "average" height of the overall canopy in the tent. It's so funny, I might not even try plants this big if I were walking. Lol. But somehow doing it in a wheelchair I'm getting off on it.

Have a great grow week everyone!!

Hope you had a great weekend. :thumb:
Did you ever get that Geoflora and pots?

Morning Mucker!! No, @Bill284, I was fixing to send you a message about that. I did get a box of geoflora with 3 gallon geopots, but I thought that was the NOTM prize pack box cuz it came with the same tracking emails and such. I wasn't quite sure if that was your gift or my win Geo/geo. Thanks again so much, I'm sure we can figure it out.

Nice! And that view is worth checking on them frequently to make sure you're not seeing things. You know, just to be sure. :cheesygrinsmiley:
@Azimuth, excellent reminder, thanks, even though I know you were kidding. I gotta remember to LOOK in a jungle like this. VERY easy to miss something. In fact, I was going on a deflarfing mission today with Fulvia now that you mention it. Since I last did that there have sprung up about 1000 little branches that will never make the canopy. Lol.

I'll email mail them and see what is up.
I have a bunch of them I have to email and find out what is going on.
I'll let you know what they say. :thumb:

TITAN
Day 49

I usually like when other people name my plants, but in this case I think her name is pretty apropos. I honestly wish I could take more credit for this plant, but if we're being honest, I can't. There are many here who could easily duplicate this or train it any other way and perhaps exceed it given this level of genetics. I've never seen anything like this, not even close, with an auto in my gardens. The size, the amount of viable side branching, the rate of growth, the color and overall health, the time she gave me before hitting flower, and even the awesome bud stacking and nodal spacing are ALL not my doing. Nope. Those responsible would be Growers Choice genetics, @NextLight 420h sunlight, [USER=342556]@Prescription Blend nutrients, @Bill284 (who taught me how to grow in coco, this is the first ever auto in coco I've grown), and a certain percentage of just plain lucking out on a phenotype. Honestly all I can take credit for here is making a few cuts and pulling a few branches to the side, and providing a consistent and appropriate environment. That's easy.

Gotta love when everyone else does the work for you. Lmao!!!

Keeping with our Monday Scale Shot theme, here's a scale shot of Titan this morning.

And here's an overhead shot (close as I can get to one). She still looks like a giant sombrero from the side, but from the top she is much more reminiscent of the Great Pyramid.

Happy Monday!!

Thanks for the compliment.
You make me chuckle though, " anyone can replicate this"

Take a bow my friend. :adore:

Ok, @Azimuth, this post is dedicated to you, my intrepid friend.

Let's Pile On One More Experiment!!!!

Earlier today we were discussing flowering an auto at 12/12 vs. 20/4 a little bit and I said I had never done it. Well, that's changing as of right now.

Our final add-on experiment for this grow involves our lovely and very robust Jack Herer auto. It was getting pretty crowded out back in that little furniture blurple rig with both the Jack and the Zkittlez. Both were crying for more space. What a perfect opportunity to try flowering an auto at 12/12. All we have to do to do that is see if we have room in the tent to place Jack and match the canopy. Hmm....easier said than done perhaps. The tricky part is going to be, do I have the right sized solid base to get her up on. Might be tough.

Nope. Pretty damn easy actually. Here's the story in pictures/explanations:

1. Guess what this is? This would be the very first, most infantile sign of Jack going to flower finally. She's an auto indeed. She gave me 33 days before this, which is a dream!! What perfect timing for her to join the others in the big tent.

2. Here's the final picture of outdoor Jack in the sun.

3. The Zkittlez is now much happier. Here's a scale shot to show you how she fits nicely in the rig by herself with all the room in the world.

4. Zkittlez doesn't look like much in that scale shot. Try this one instead.

5. So we moved the Jack into the big tent with the real plants. Lmao. Here's what we established for her very solid infrastructure, and how much space we now have left. That would be next to nothing.

6. This is a picture of just Jack, up at canopy level, enjoying her new spectrum. This is a much more seismic shift to the plus side for the plant than the increase in power (she's about to be getting 680 watts from above in a couple days, lol, at the moment she's getting 550 in the tent, as opposed to the 256 she was getting out back). Certainly the power increase will help, but the spectrum improvement is off the charts. She is one gorgeous strain, that's for sure.

7. Here's how she looks in an overhead canopy shot showing how I blended her in. Kind of looks like she was there all along, lol.

8. And here's a side shot of that same canopy, showing the horizontal (canopy level) blend.

9. These last two pictures are bonus pictures of my mom's Raven ZZ, which I up potted for her about two weeks ago. The plant has roared to life since then and is now HUGE. This first picture shows the new growth coming out at the bottom.

10. Big deal, new growth on a non pot plant, right? Not exactly. I've watched every bit of this plant grow for two years. The shoots that become the leaf covered vertical branches always look exactly the same - like little pointy, long torpedoes. The stay that way until they get about halfway the size of the established branches then they open up into leaves. This looks 100% different. I don't know enough about plants to say for sure, but I know a little. I'm pretty sure this is a FLOWER. Does anyone know by chance from seeing this? Sure looks like the beginning of a flower to me. This plant has never once done this in two years. Think the up potting had something to do with it? Lmao!!!!

Wow, that was a busy ass morning considering everyone needed water this morning too. Glad it's over. Lunch and nap time. Lol.

I would agree with you on that flower question. Reminds me of flowers produced by the Peace Lily.

Remind us of what's different again? I think you up-potted it into your 70/30 coco mix and are giving it your run-off watering water??

Hey @Azimuth - not sure I understand what you're asking. Experimentally-wise, is that what you mean? Here's a list, and it might be more accurate to refer to these not so much as experiments, but as firsts:

- The Fruity Pebble Cookies photo from Ethos is a pre-release, it's not even in their catalog yet. I am among the first consumers to grow this strain. No info except the parents. Flying blind to a certain extent.
- The FPCs are also my first attempt at starting, training for a tent, and canopy-izing photos in coco, which is a little bit different than soil. They also represent the furthest in terms of size that I have ever dare gone in the tent. In my circumstances this is rather significant.
- The Mystery Plant started in the spent soil pile, got dug up and potted into a 3 of Sohum/spent soil blend and put outside to grow, then began flowering so got moved into the tent under 24/0 cuz I thought it was an auto, then turned out to be a revegging photo, then grew like a crazy woman in the weirdest way, and now is trained and cleared unlike anything I have ever done or seen. Lol.
- The Mystery Plant is both my first accidentally created hybrid, and my first accidental reveg.
- The Watermelon WeddingCake is trained in a new way for me. I always think a new training try is worthy of note.
- The WWC is also my first auto in coco.
- The WWC and both FPCs represent my first attempt using @Prescription Blend nutrients in coco.
- This will be my first shot at flowering an auto under 12/12. For all I know they might get bigger, we'll see. I have no idea really. Interesting that we can compare to the Zkittlez at 20/4 for flower.

I think that's a decent amount of firsts for one grow. Is that what you were asking?

Oh my. Sorry to make you go through all of that trip down memory lane. Was a good recap though! :goodjob::thanks:

I was more asking what was different about your mother's plant. :laughtwo:

In the words of Rozanne Rozanna Danna of Saturday Night Live fame, "Never mind..."

Hey @Jon! I keep meaning to ask, how do you figure seeds keep sprouting in your discard pile? Are they seeds that you tried to germ and gave up on? Or some you just tossed in there? Inquiring minds want to know lol

I went looking for Growers Choice last night, did you buy from their UK site or is there a domestic source? The UK site only accepts bank transfers and bitcoin, neither of which I've ever done. Just wondering. I'd love to get some of their XL autos. Thanks my friend.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Lol, once again the joke's on me. Well the Raven ZZ is a different story. This plant is completely badass.

She was in a 2.5 gallon ceramic pot with one hole in the bottom for about two years. Her growth had long since stalled, but she had somehow maintained her health all the way through despite being completely root bound. And root bound she was. I knew just by looking at her but any second grader could have figured this one out. Lol. So I up potted her into a 7 gallon geopot of my spent soil...the actual pot the Raspberry Parfait grew in actually, for reference. Upon up potting she was a tangled mess of thick roots underneath and came right out of the pot easily. I did exactly what I do with a pot plant in terms of up potting and "melding" the zones. When I got to the watering part I watered with water/Fox Farms Microbe Brew/Easy Weed Seaweed Supplement, on top of adding some bokashi and frass as a top dressing. The hole was also hit nicely with Great White. Everything I listed there is what I had that with my fledgling plant knowledge I figured would be okay for this plant and potentially help it. When my next little tub of worms is exhausted from fishing I'll add that container (about enough for one top dressing of the 7) to it as well and see what happens. All this was about two weeks ago, I think she would be showing her dismay if she was unhappy with anything I did, right?

There. The proper answer to the question you were asking. Lmao. Thanks.

Hey @BubbaKush909, if you search G C seeds for sale (I'm not using the whole words cuz they're not a sponsor I don't think, so....but the rest of both the G and C words is there) you will find the one connected to Seed City. Go to that and at the bottom of the page that comes up is a link to the site I used. It brings you to the GC site. There are six Double XLs available right now, I have two of them arriving soon, lol. I paid with my debit card. Already have tracking, due tomorrow. Yes, UK I believe. Try that. How about we talk about this in messages from now on? Might be better in this case. You know, respect and all....
