Jon's Dedicated Fruity Pebble Cookies Grow Plus The Mystery Plant

Autotown
Day 24

The girls in the 5x5 were all bragging to each other today and patting themselves on the back because they think they have the nicest pad of all the plants. So I took this picture to show them the auto's pad and get them to stop being so snarky. I think this puts to rest the question (we've all been asking, lmao) of who has the nicest pad.

That's their morning view. I've missed posting pictures like this. Hide it in plain sight is BACK, baby! Gives me wood. Lol.

Meanwhile, when we get a little closer, I can show you how incredibly cooperative the Zkittlez is behaving for me so far. I'm loving the symmetry on her.

And then we have a closer shot of our Jack Herer, now fully recovered from getting the green shocked into her. I've settled on the theory that Jack's first 10 day woes were more due to the spent soil Dixie cup base she was in more so than anything else. That spent soil pile is a bit of a crapshoot. I suspect that had I Dixied her in my usual (and just bought) Fox Farms soil blend she'd have started a lot better. No matter. She's ready to rock now.

The girls out back here just love completely windless days like this. It may not last, but hopefully we get four hours or so in before we (once again) have to haul out the windscreening measures. Lol. Day 24 today. I know the Zkittlez ain't giving me 30 days, at least it never has before. I doubt the Jack will either. I suspect we'll start seeing pistils and preflowers here shortly.

Hi @Jon, that's a good question. I can say for myself that I have a 100% better course of growth and so we will see at the end;) but progress is clearly visible in my diary. Thanks to all 420 brothers and sisters;)
Hi @Kanno26! Isn't it the truth? I am embarrassed when I read my first journal here and my first several posts. Not so much because I was so green and crappy, but just because I had no clue about anything, I just dove in with a journal. The dramatic increase to the learning curve relative to the growing you get here is one thing, and learning how to negotiate the site, interact with a pool of growers, not break any rules, and be appropriate is another, I think. It's not like other sites. Even the way we all interact is different. We ain't social FUC--NG media here! And I've learned that it's just a bit different. The accent here is on HELPING one another.

Go figure.

Morning @Bill284. Boy I wish I could have seen that setup. So sweet. You must have been having a blast. It's funny when you (now) grow coco and then have to go out back to open up the outdoor rig and you see a little auto in a three in soil, and you're like "what's this?" Lmao. Oh yeah, that's paint drying.

I sure hope I'm good enough too Bill. I suspect I have the skills to pull this off, I guess we'll see. But I found @StoneOtter's answer most helpful as well, and I have lots of peeps I can ask if I get stuck and don't know what to do.

I'm getting ready to go diving in now. I'll post a pic or two of her when I'm done defiling her.
Yeah it's kinda funny when you see an auto beside a big coco lady.;)
Your doing great my friend.
Don't worry about your abilities.
My God you should be giving lessons by now.
Confidence Mucker, you should have a stock pile by now. :thumb:

Stay safe
Bill

Thank you Bill. I have all the confidence in the world, fyi. Truth be told I'm on the edge of cocky most of the time in life. Revealing it in my journal is not my preferred modus operandi. Lol.

Watermelon WeddingCake Double XL Autoflower, from now on known as:
TITAN
Day 40!

40 days in. Halfway home. Think it's safe to say the stretch is on.

Here's two pictures of her. The first is a scale shot, including the wonderful @NextLight 420h which is doing a great job powering this plant. You can see her actual size compared to a 3x3x6.5 tent. I see raising this light in the not too distant future. The second is a zoom on the canopy. The canopy on this girl makes me smile

We've also decided that Watermelon WeddingCake is too long to keep typing for the rest of the grow, so I came up with a name for her. It's a bit male, we'll call it a unisex name and hope it sticks, but it was the only name that seemed appropriate.

Say hello to Titan.

Sixers open tonight against Toronto. Any of you Canadians Toronto Raptors fans? If so I sincerely hope you get dusted.

Preparing for War
Final Training
Undercarriage Cleanup
Overall Canopy Maintenance

For better or for worse, the deed is done.

Fulvia: canopy set, undercarriage cleaned up, flarf removed, plant positioned
Elora: canopy set, undercarriage cleaned up, flarf removed, plant positioned
Mystery Plant: ready to go, in position
Jack Herer Auto: gone to the back outdoor situation

I also installed the Big Boy fan and changed up the fan game a bit.

I think I did alright. Guess we'll see soon enough. This tent goes to flower on Monday.

Phew!

1. This is what I took from Fulvia.

2. This is what her undercarriage looks like after the work.

3. This is Fulvia's canopy and pretty much the way we're going to war.

4. Here's Elora's undercarriage after the work.

5. And here's Elora's canopy.

6. This is a shot of our Big Boy and improved air flow game.

7. And finally, here's a picture that shows the state of affairs with an overall tent canopy. Small picture but you get it.

Now that was fricking FUN. I LOVE GROWING WEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone wishes to comment on/critique the work I would most appreciate it. Thank you.

Hi @Jon, that's a very good job;) I want to ask you do you have a new tent or I missed something, I'll get another one or I'm wrong it's possible:D

Hey Jon! I can barely keep track of all your gorgeous girls, they just get bigger and better. I wanted to ask you again about topping your autos. Are you waiting for a certain set of nodes to appear? My Mimosa Lemon auto is now on day 20 and I'm thinking of giving it a shot. It's just starting the 5th node and I'm seeing a few pistils. Is it too late? Thanks!

Hi @Kanno26, thank you. No, it's the same 5x5 you've been seeing, just rearranged a little. I try to keep it as clean and new as I can.

Hey Bubbakush!

I know that question was directed at Jon. But I've always found the best time to top an auto is right after the 4th node. Stripe away nodes 1&2, keeping 3&4.

Hi @BubbaKush909 - Thanks!

To answer your questions:
- sometimes, yes, I try with autos to wait until a certain set of nodes appears.
I like to top autos above the 4th node. In the case of autos age-wise that's usually right around where you are now, as you're seeing with your 5th coming out. So if it were me, I would top that 5th node right off. Now.
- I say "now" because you say you see pistils. They would have to be JUST starting, right? That's not too late, but close. I'm sure it would still be okay even if you're correct. But.....Are you sure they are pistils indicating she's flipping to flower? 20 days is awfully early for them, I've never seen one flip that quickly. I got deceived on day 23 with the Watermelon WC when I saw what I thought were those pistils, but they were only those little "pre-pistilization" white hairs that come out low on the stems. Now that she's in the stretch I can clearly see the difference. I ask because if they are not real pistils, that's better. It means you have more time to let the two tops you're going to create if you top to grow out. And if they are just the pre-ones like I saw day 23 and they're not actual pistils, I would still do the topping now, assuming that 5th node is up enough to cut it and leave a bit of stem.

BK, you know it's cool, and it would really help me a lot to assist you if you wish to post a picture of the plant and the pistils you may be seeing. Can you do that? Put it here where we're already talking about it? Then I can help better and you'll get input from others potentially.

If you can't or don't wanna, okay. In that case, I *think* I addressed your queries enough, yes? Was that clear (and hopefully helpful?).

See BK? Rexer and I are on the same page. Although I don't necessarily always strip the lower nodes as he does. He's doing it DWC, so his autos are always going to be big enough to clip those and not cost anything. But sometimes you just get a smallish auto, and in soil, sometimes, I choose to keep those lower nodes because I don't want to lose even that much bud off it, and taking them won't improve the tops as much as the cost of the bottom loss.

You see what I mean, @Rexer?

Saturday Marijuana Porn

I have two selections for your perusal this afternoon. Please enjoy.

1. This first picture is a just now shot of my alien spacecraft. Or maybe it's my sombrero. It might also be my top. I'm old and my eyes are going, but it looks something like one of those. Lol. For real though, this plant seems to be stretching before my eyes in real time. I know that's impossible, but jeez, just from this morning look at the difference:

2. The second picture is a veg special. This is Gorillatown. It's a closeup showing the tops of all three plants. Fulvia in the front, Elora back left, Mystery back right. Besides that I'm in love with this tent, there's one other thing I wanted to point out to @InTheShed and @Azimuth. You guys, check out the Mystery Plant on the back right of the picture. Look closely at the leaves on top, the newest ones. You see what I see? Holy FIVE POINTS Batman! She is FINALLY back to shooting 5-pointed leaves! I suspected this had to happen at some point, but wow, did it take forever. I would assume that now she'll continue with the 5-point leaves and the 3-pointers will be a thing of the past? (I don't know why it would matter, I just feel like her getting back to 5-point leaves is some sort of positive signal in terms of being fully back to veg. Or something. Lol.)

Hope you enjoyed our brief selection of Saturday Marijuana Porn.

:theband:

Thanks guys! Here are 2 pics, in the 2nd I tried to show the pistils or pre-pistils I'm seeing.

Let me know what you think thanks guys!
Hi @BubbaKush909 -

Hmm..............

That is not what I expected to see. That looks like it may be the real deal. The "pre-pistils" thing I was talking about didn't look like that, I was talking low on the stem, and just a pair here and there. Are all the tops like this? I'm not certain cuz it's hard to tell sometimes, but yeah, if I was betting I'd have to go yes, they're the real thing.

Well, first, get a second (at least) opinion on the above.

Next, also get a second opinion on this: I'd top it anyway. Still early enough. Especially since if it's the real thing, that's a super early flowering start and you're going to want that extra cola. The simple act of that one topping will give you two tops that will beat the one you'll get if you don't top, imho.

Very interesting BK. Let's see what they look like tomorrow, but I would suggest if one more person you respect says it's okay to top anyway, you go ahead and do it ASAP. Just me.

Excellent cleanup!
I just feel like her getting back to 5-point leaves is some sort of positive signal in terms of being fully back to veg.
I'm with you there. :high-five:
Thanks guys! Here are 2 pics, in the 2nd I tried to show the pistils or pre-pistils I'm seeing.
When I see an auto putting out those skinny leaves I figure flowering pistils are a day or two away. I can't give any advice about when to top though since I would never top my autos!

That would make sense to me. I've never successfully revegged a flowered out plant before and so am enjoying your play by play on this one. :goodjob:

Gorillatown
Last Day of Veg
Veg Day 47

Today is our last day of veg. At 6 pm this evening the lights go out. They've never seen darkness, I hope they're not scared of the dark. 47 days of veg. This will be my shortest veg time of any grow yet. I always go at least 60.

So here's Elora:

Here's Fulvia:

Here's the Mystery Plant:

And here is our "canopy":

So as you can see we're more than halfway up the main doors of the 9' tall tent, with the canopy sitting around 4 1/4 feet off the floor.

That's it. What else is there to say except time to start the show?!!
