re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System
hi mate, everything looks great you got some very nice plants their,
i have been growing autos for a while now and noticed that they tend to prefer cooler temps, when i have an auto in my flower room like i have got now i have to make sure its at the edge of the room nearest the door which i leave slightly open to vent due to high temps i get when door shut, so i then started to notice that my autos seemed to grow much better with slightly cooler temps,
now i know this might depend on strain but when i looked into autos they tend to grow in much cooler climates, the leaves ony my kc45 auto tend to look like yours when its closer to the light, my regular plants are fine at the right temp but all the autos i have grown tend to struggle with high temps, keeping a fan blowing on them and making sure my plant is near the door soon solved all my problems,
my auto was really struggling and bud growth was slow but since making sure that its cooler than the other plants it grew like crazy and is going to give me 4 1ft buds, now my purple cheese auto is totally the opposite, its 4 nodes high, side branches are between 1 and 2 inches long and the plant is in flower, all autos i have grown finish around 1foot in height but this auto kc45 is around 3ft with huge buds but the purple cheese auto is small like most the autos i grow,
im not saying this is the same problem as yours, it could be down to the soil or nutes, autos dont like regular nute levels, i had huge problems with some autos when i fed them the same as my other plants, so i started at 1/4 strength and slowly upped it and managed to max out at around half the regular dose of bpn, i also found autos prefer the soil to be much drier than regular plants, i had bad leaf curl due to them getting the same amount of water as my other plants, when i stopped watering as much the problem was solved,
so from what i can tell these autos grow in cooler climates in soil that is not as nutrient as the other cannabis plants grow in, again this is from my own experience, as your growing yours outdoors then their is not much you can do about the soil plus without getting it tested you wont know ph or ppm count, but if your feeding nutes then id cut it down to about half and see if the plant picks up,
i found similar problems with all autos i have grown, none could really take full strength nutes at least not till the end of flower, i think its the N that is a bit to hot for them in the nutrients, so all i can suggest is either cut the nute dose down on the autos and try watering slightly less, but only you can know for sure what works and what dont, i had time to run tests due to the amount of autos i have grown and they all seem to suffer the same problem, my main problem was heat stress and to much nutes, once i figured out they needed much less than other plants they soon sorted themselves out and the leaf problem vanished,
so just thought id throw that out their in case its something you can try with yours
for growers who grow autos indoors i find they take a lot longer to grow if their grown under 12-12 with flowering plants, they dont produce more buds but just badly slows growth, i find 20-4 is about the best lighting for the best growth, i would not prune any branches or leaves as this slows growth and might mean smaller buds, the only thing i do with autos is use pipe cleaners to pull the leaves open so the light can reach every growth at the nodes,
all you can do is play around until you find whats causing the problem,
but then again i have had several autos that are not stable, they dont seem a very stable strain, i bought 10kc brains or kc45 auto seeds, i have grown 7 of the seeds and 5 where female, every single plant grew different, some grew taller and some bushy but this last seed i got in flower now is by far the biggest auto of the batch and this one has taken a lot longer to grow than the others,
