Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

Sorry let me clarify. I would not agree with defoliation not the asshole comment. If he wants to call me an asshole that's fine, no real offence taken. Lol Many people would agree with that.
Defoliation at any time is against the plants wishes.

That is gonzo growing -- :cheesygrinsmiley:

Our Lady of Cannabis said "Let there be defoliation" ...and the faithful butchered their plants. :yikes:

jesting Jon

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

Sorry , not up with the lingo
Gonzo growing??
It seams to me Jon is trying none defoliation as he has been advised by popular growers, no?

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

I understand the comment
I follow jon and his journals and it seems the last 3-4 , by page 10 the topic of trimming comes around and each time he is trying something new , in order to find that sweet spot he is looking for that works in his setup.
Now with that being said if it works for Jon (and most of the other growers personal and commercial) I am quicker to try myself
:peace:
I can't wait to see how this new configuration works out be for I rebuild my new room

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

Fair comment. Just trying to put a different point of view across. I do a lot of different techniques in my grows. I'm also learning from these journals. Just don't agree with everything I read. Threres an old saying " believe half of what you see and none of what you hear".

I just don't follow blindly.

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

Mr. Messy, in no way was I calling you an asshole bro its an expresion, to me it means everybody has they're own opinion and preference especially it seems on this very subject, some guys are die hard old school let nature takes its course and others like to experiment.Check out bassmans journals or Vicks or or a couple dozen others here at 420 that get exellent results with high defoliation at certain times throughout veg and twice in flower. It all boils down to what style your using I guess, if you check out my first journal that whole room was a giant screen, with a scrog I firmly believe defoliation is a must, without it your lucky if the main tops are getting any light. Now that Im using a different style im going to start experimenting again until I figure out for myself what works best for me and once I get it all figured out I ll probably try something else lol...its just the way im wired bro evetually I ll stick with something but I really like trying new things, subcools super soil and style of growing for example, I really like the idea of a true perpetual grow where your harvesting 6-8 plants every 2 weeks and pulling 10-12 oz per plant and all organic. once my new space is built and I can grow 6 foot plants i ll probably give that a go:)

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

Here is some reading on Increasing yield with defoliation indoors - What's it mean? How to do it?

If you agree or not, great!

Hey jon how's the outdoor girls doing?
Hey HMG,
all but the Blue hash are doing great bro, I ll get some pics up tomorrow, I cant figure out wtf is up with that plant its gotten worse, weird how its has gotten the exact same treatment as the rest and its the only one out of 115 plants that looks like that.

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

Sweet mate no problem here.
have just read about defoliation and still believe there are better ways. ill get back to this as I'm going to prove I'm not a grumpy old grower and have three plants in a row that have different methods. i totally agree with the light penetration issue and bending top branches down to create an even canopy and let light in. but the whole defoliation bugs me. i have however done it to one of the plants and will run a comparison to see for my self. as you know, I'm very much into experimentation as well.
will post a shot here in a bit, just downloading now.
i used to defoliate many years ago but ran a half and half experiment once that showed a massive difference in final density of buds and total weight. i will give it a go again.

heres the three experiments

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

Lol, im pretty sure he wasnt calling you a asshole dude, its an expression. I've think I've only seen jon rude to one person but that dick deserved it. Also depending on set-up not defoliating is a crime.
Thanks for that Blazin, Im not here to give anybody a hard time, ive been growing along time too and I still learn alot everyday because of this site, and yes that guy deserved it lol

With them numbers and only one bad seed no problem. I got a couple auto's going myself right now, if you want theres a link in my sig.

Thanks Lurch, Im glad you get something out of my journals bro, I think other than a burner this is the configuration I ll be sticking with until my new space is built then I ll add 2 more 1000's, every condition in that room is finally sitting right where its suposed to be:)

In my last jounal The rack had 4 ladys restraind , 2 of them got major defol and the other 2 got medium and minimal defol ( I state again in my setup) the heavy defol got better weight , more light to lower buds, the lighter defol were more dense but an oz light

My experiment was a long time ago but from memory, which is wasted right now lol, I had one plant, cant remember the strain, outside in Australia for the full year growth cycle. Defoliated half the plant. Got 20-25 % more final weight from the normal side. It was a hydro pot in pot plant in a massive tub.
Anyway I suppose all strains, plants methods, info and life is just a different experience for us all.
Peace
