Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

Organic is way easier...I mixed up a 6 bag batch of soil this year...Easy stuff but I know I spend more time making hydro feed for my 2 moms & 8 in the tent than I do watering my 10 outdoor plants...Plus it's never wasted, stir it into a compost pile & use it again in two years....

Hey Jon,

Are you going to run the same strain(s) in the supersoil that you were running in hydro? I'd be curious to see how it compares against hydro on strains you're experienced with. I'll also be curious to see what your opinion is on the end product compared to running hydro.

Mmm...unfortunatly I dont think I will have the same strains, maybe the blue og but im probably getting rid of the Purple Kush, its run its course and im tired of it, but ive been smoking hydro weed for many years so I think I can be a good judge on wether or not it taste better:)

the problem with compost piles around here is that that they attract bears, I have 2 dogs that would gladly give a bear a go any day so I try not to leave anything outside that stinks at all, I even burn my grill clean after every bbq for the same reason.

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

yeah jon, washing the hydroton has got to be the most time consuming chore when it comes to using systems like ours... DWC or RDWC is so much more efficient by comparison, but then you have to rely on so many parts that can fail or leak and a more complicated setup with regards to use of space and energy efficiency... it kinda balances out a little.... depending too on whether or not you have a system setup to cater for that part of the grow i s'pose. herbman has a pretty tight setup when it comes to that.. his mesh tray setup for draining and cleaning his hydroton... but its definitely still a chore loL.

i'd have to say, when it comes to indoor commercial grows i would personally favour hydro ANYDAY.. its so much cleaner than lugging hundreds of pounds of dirt in and out etc... just working out of a single reservoir sure beats that! and like you jon.. if you are a new grower but have access to someone who has grown hydro for a while and is willing to impart some of their wisdom and knowledge?? i'd recommend going with hydro straight off the bat anyday.. the results speak for themselves IN MY EXPERIENCE anyway.

just a side note jon.. is it just me or is the link in your signature for THIS journal wrong?? i was just trying to link to this journal and kept being redirected to the 420 members page... i had to go to the end of your other link to find this again! lmao.. in all likelihood its just me being technologically inept! :p

Legit, i couldnt agree with you more ma man! super soil is so easy to make and get right.. and sustainable- such a great start for plants.. i'd definitely go with that for outdoors anyday of the week.. and add to that pure organics and even to take it to another level by following bio-dynamic principles.. i think you could blow "high brix" right out of the water!!! no offence to high brix growers! ive just had some experience with the steiner system in horticulture and agriculture and KNOW it kicks ass!! ESP when growing MMJ.. its been around for YEARS as one of the first 'modern' ecological farming systems and is well used in so many countries(45++) and by so many growers in different areas and on different levels from noobs to advanced hort sciences(although the latter generally hate to admit this!).. its not trying to reinvent any wheel, so to speak. but it might not be for ya if you have an aversion to anything "occult" as it tends to delve into the idea of natural and cosmic 'forces' etc.. whereas some ppl are simply "scientific" 'reductionists' or just want to grow so they can get wadded at the end of it ;]

INDOOR UPDATE
DAY 7 OF FLOWER
TEMPS 75 DAYTIME 72 NIGHTIME
RH 40 -45% STEADY
CO2 1200-1500 PPM

I forsee big donkeys in the very near future:)
everything seems to be running on autopilot right now, the girls are starting to stretch a bit but not much so far, im waiting until they really get going to clean up the bottom 1/4 of the plants to slow them down a bit, otherwise ill be cutting the tops of from my livingroom!
All of the girls got a BPN feeding shortly after being moved into the room and after a few days 3 or 4 of them started showing very simillar issues to the plants that were in the system only milder, I have since watered them again with just RO water and they seem to be ok...so what does that mean? I had absolutly no issues with BPN and promix last round, did I get a bad batch of BPN? Its the only common denominator here, either way I have 3 full kits sitting in the isles so im switching out the kit im using now for a new one and hoping that that was the problem, if not I have lots of GH, Budcandy, overdrive and sensizym left that I can use up while the supersoil cooks.

Black Dominas.I really like the tight node spacing on this strain, looks like there going to produce nice big colas.

Monster PK, I ll be suprised If I dont get a pd off of this plant.

Blue OG. Big colas on the way with this one, it almost looks like it was starting to flower outside the way the nodes were growing.I t makes me think that Subcool is on to something, he says letting the plants veg 60 days gives them time to mature, not only will you get bigger colas this way but the weed will be better, more flavorful, I know the common thought is that clones are as mature as they're mothers but in my experience they dont look as ready as these ones did with a shorter veg time, just my 2 cents though.

A.M.S. Im dont like the way this plant is growing with big spacing in between nodes so I probably wont be keeping it but I did take a few clones just incase, Cultivator gets crazy results with this strain but I think we have different phenos.

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

Glad to see the indoors doing so well jon, you're pursuing a logical course of action with your new soil...........grow some plants in it........push a couple til they burn, then back off. In a coupla grows you're gonna rock....I mean like you want to!:cheertwo:BTW, a helper would be really handy at harvest time, you're gonna have your hands full as they both are gonna come in at close to the same time! I have seen grows like yours take a week with 4 people.....depending on the grade of trim you perform......go look at the machine trimmed buds on my journal....it looks like they took about half the bud off.....and I think the best shit is on the sugar leaves.....then again, the whole commercial market looks like they're more concerned with appearance. If a person didn't know what weed looked like they would never guess these trimmed out buds would be weed!

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

ok heres a weed nerd video.Start watching it at around the 10 min mark to around the 20 min mark. Those fraking monster colas are grown in water only supersoil.I would like to see a hydro set up here or any other set up for that matter that is getting results even close to that, theres alot of nice grows here but I havent seen anybody getting these kind of results.look at how frosty they are, leaves are tacoing they're so encrusted with thrychs.Put good genetics in a 7 gallon pot of supersoil, veg it for 60 days and thats what you get, ive seen lots of vids from lots of different growers getting the same results with Sub's recipe.Sure its going to take time to dial in the mix but tell me its not worth it or its to much work if your getting results like that everytime!

Hey Jon

I hope you don't think I'm trying to dissuade you from switching to SS. Even if I wanted to, and I have wish to, you're already committed.

I agree with your logic for going this direction. The growing style you're transitioning to offers many advantages. I'm sure you will do well. :Namaste:

I like the Weed Nerd. I haven't watched them all, but I've watched many. Subcool knows his stuff. No doubt. :)
