Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

You ever thought about going perpetual harvest in soil? You've got plenty of room to harvest once a week with great timing....When I grew medical here in CO that's what we did(most do)...We were in a 2000 sq ft building & pulled 2 pounds every 3 days. It was awesome because we only did an initial trim while on the plant & then it got taken away & fat checks were left in it's place! The only shitty part is all the dirt everywhere staying warm in the winter!

Wow jon, just work through it, you've done it before....you got it...and I send my best....(prayers)
Thank Mcloadie, the problem is I have no clue what is causing it, even Corey is stumped, he thinks I should switch to dwc, hes conviced its my system causing ph issues but my meter works fine and the ph is 5.8. It really does look like a ph issue(lockout) causing multipal deffieciencies.Im giving them a few more days to show signs of recovery, if not im pulling them, the longer I wait the bigger the girls outdoors get, pretty soon they wont fit in my room.
I personally thing dwc or undercurrent dwc are the best hydro systems out there, I would switch in a heartbeat but a 16 pot undercurrent system uses around 190 gallons of water so with the 2:1 ratio of my ro system thats 570 gallons of water out of my well not counting daily usage from my house.I would only have to do a res change every 20 days with a system like that but I really dont think my well could handle a load like that, I would hate to build or buy a system like that and then run my well dry, supersoil might be the only other option for me.

Im a huge Subcool fan bro and I think about switching to his supersoil recipe all the time, I could copy his tecniques easily enough I just dont have a place to mix the soil in the winter right now.If I manage to pull this build off this fall(im not sure if its going to be doable this year) I could use the trim room as a mixing room as well instead of a res room and run 4 different zones with 6-8 plants coming off every 2 weeks. I got very good results with BPN in promix to so thats another option that I could use for a perpetual grow, I just hate giving up lol..but I have to figure something out soon, it seems like im having some sort of issue every round with this system...

You know jon, you are up to your elbows already, if you went to soil it would be to your ad to set up for it. Make a concrete structure to store and mix the ingredients for the soil in, use a small loader to move your components around, and you need a soil sterilizer. The one I used would do around a yard of soil at a time. I know its a big move, but that's how we did it commercially....and you have a definite commercial style....professional. My bro that has a big op only fertilized twice during a grow...outdoors....but it got too big for him and he's doin a drip now........constant nutrients. If you would like I could get you a confirmed commercial soil recipe for weed...even if just for a reference........I mean a recipe that involves yards.

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

Sure bro, at this point im willing to look at anything lol...any kind of soil other than promix is new to me, ive always been a hydro guy(flood and drain tables for almost 10 years). again the reason I didnt go with my bread and butter set up was the well, flood and drain tables use alot of water too.The more I think about it the more it makes sense to switch to soil but mixing soil in the quantities I would need to run a set up like that is a little overwhelming because ive never mixed a soil in my life, I would need alot of space or a huge mixing area, I dont know if a 10x15 trim room is big enough...

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

and I cant be moving large quantities of soil around my property, im in the bush but I still have neighbours, it has to be contained indoors to be safe.Bringing bags of soil and supplements is ok,I can move it into the growshop at night but like I said im not sure if a 10x15 room is big enough to do it.

yeah, that much soil will kick a guys butt!

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

oh I can handle the work no problem bro, I just have absolutely no experience with it so I have no idea how big of a workstation I would need to mix that much soil...20 plants x 7-10 gallon pots is 70-100 gallons just for the flower room, then theres the veg room with 4 different stages of plants starting in 1 gallon pots and then 7-10 gallon pots so another 50-60 gallons of soil in there, is it even possible to have that much soil on hand at all times for a true perpetual grow with a 10x15 room as the mixing room? and still have room for a trim table?

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

one container for the ready to use soil and the other for cooking the soil?

Yep...perpetual soil production......when I want to "cook" a soil, I want it covered and I want some heat buildup from the decomposition. When bro made dirt he brought the components in a pickup. It is a ton of work if done by hand. It will have to be sterilized and reinnoculated. You could design the soil to suit your requirements exactly................that's hot stuff!

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

Ok, now that we're interested...We used a concrete mixer for the soil...4 yard one I think...The containers size isn't important but I wouldn't use wood without seriously protecting it inside but plastic would solve that...About mixing soil, there are many options...I've been reading TLO(True Living Organics) & I will be trying that next year for my autos(plan to start 50 first thing in the spring & 50 when I harvest those)...In your space you could do 16 plants in 5 gallon smart pots no trouble & pull 2 a week(8 week strains of course)...Easily get 12 ounces every week...Once I'm not growing in my closet I'll be all over soil again...It's so much easier, especially if your soil is rich!...I'm glad your thinking about it...Hydro is faster & yields better but it more work than needed to grow Cannabis....Soil is easier, tastier, prettier & will keep the grow mostly stress free plus you'll be able to move plants around:)

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

Now that's a system...I'd say go for it...Hydro is great for small spaces but if you've got a room soil is the boss...60 zipz every 2 weeks is crazy, I plan to get to 16 every 2 & call it there...Can't imagine what I'd do with much more, plus with a big outdoor each season I'll be set! Go for it, it will only improve things & give you more time to relax...Hydro takes a ton of work!

re: Jon705's Multi Strain HPS LED Hybrid System

I was thinking I could built the containers out of 2x4's and plywood and line it with pond liner

My buddies are built out of 2x6's, 4' wide, 8' long, 2-2x6's tall. He puts 2 plants in each one, but that's outdoors. I know they don't change that soil every year, they just amend it..............will two thousies cover one of those?, or two led's? Put drains in the floor to a leach field.................or just a French drain.....or just 5" perf...............it wouldn't be like a lot of water goin out....mostly cleanup between runs.....LOL......just hose he whole place down with bleach water....sealed greenhouse. Bro, when you get your new place there are all kinds of ways to create cooling systems that work underground with NO refrigeration.......I know a dude that has a house that is heated and cooled by convection only....he has a 20 foot palm tree growin in the house!
