Re: JimmyCrickets 1st Indoor Grow - Chemdog D & White Rhino x Blackberry
Yeah I dont know bout that either mate.. At the start I used to use 24/7 for seedlings - But then after a few discussions with guys that grow indoor and outdoor - They both said to me that no where apart from the arctic areas do we get 24/7 light, So in a natural situation growing in soil anyway, the time of light the plant is exposed to does affect things, but as WIZZY said - Only to a point. They do need light to photosynth and store food, But IMO 24hrs direct light on a nearly 3ft plant is possibly harmful, possibly causing bleaching or other things? But they also need dark, as evident in Flowering, and also I now use a 17/7 light/dark cycle as its about 5-6 hours more light than outside atm, and keeping above 13hrs will stop flower, and saving dollars using a 17 hr light cycle with my 400w is good - barely notice a difference..
Using this timing I DO NOTICE good growth from my plants over the day, with many new fresh, lighter green shoots and leaves visibly growing away So for me, there must be a need for a dark period if Im sort of replicating an outdoor grow - But inside!
I only use a pot, some plant food and an artificial sun ( Light ) which as I said, the amount of dark I give it dictates wether it will flower or not,
I add some moving air to the equation and its nearly like an outdoor grow!!
People have different theories but for along time - People usually grew with a 18/6 light schedule - there have been changes in lighting and such so maybe theres been a slight change to the lighting requirements to that light - But IDK??
So thats my top secret grow style anyway :/ Shhhh...
