JBC's Super Soil - Fully Organic 4x Blue Mystic + 1x CH9 Jack FEMS

Yeah its a good idea and the taste of soil is the best. I did a crappy cheap ass grow about 3 years ago in nothing but soil and no nutes as I had some troubes and threw all my nutes and gear out of fear. The plant stuggled through as it was crap soil and only had some biobizz grow right near the end.

The strain was Amnesia Haze and was the BEST most chronic weed I have ever grown. The plant looked like crap and the buds not so well but they were solid and the taste and smell was out of this world. Some say organics seems complicated but i find it easier than coco alone as I dont pH or feed all the time. I just water once a week and they fine.

Here is the soil Amnesia, she really was the best smoke ever, with pretty much no nutes (once at end) and a POOR setup, Nutes aint everything :)

Dont judge on the luck I had nothing at the time and have been re-building for last 3 years :) :peace:

It seems you and I are at the same level with grows...I too have had limited success with good ol' potting soil and water. I have also grown in sphagnum peat moss and nothing else but a little Miracle Grow now and then:cheesygrinsmiley: Reps to you for your great photos.:thumb:

Yeah man cool info wizz mate. Well I'l defo be able to get them for then. I'll just chill for now. You know how it is, them F'ers dont grow fast enough lol :) Cheers again mate!

I only veg with my 400w for 2 weeks before I flip the lights. Other than that ther always under T5's or CFL's.
Me too!! I veg in the bloom tent under MH for two weeks then changed the bulb to HPS at the flip. Seemed to work well and will do it again when it is time for the new rotation to go in the tent. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Just take care of the soil and theyll grow like there under 1000w light. Ever since I backed off the nutes and started really treating them like queens. Theyve been growing really well and fast. I will stick with my 400w until I see the max I can do under it. Im starting to really get the hang of growing and im surpass all the hype everyone tosses around.

Gotta love the explosion they have during that 2 weeks also :)

I wouldn't stress the light delay like Wiz said. The lights are a bitch of an issue. It's like you keep wanting more. So far I've had a 150, 250, 600, and now I feel bad for not getting a 1000 instead of the 600. It's getting ridiculous lol.

They look nice n healthy man, can't wait to see them in action :)

How did you come to that conclusion with defoliation? Did you test this out properly where extreme defoliation and minor defoliation were the only variable? Genuinely interested, not criticizing.

Cheers man

Hey 420Mag! :)

Ok sot some pictures of the girls, they've had some defoliation, training and topping. I have pictures of the process and at the end of Veg I will put them all together to show the way I like to do it if anyone interested. Cool beanz......

Ok first I think the GLR has slowed growth a bit but not too much. Not going to flip back but as I want to veg 2-3 weeks longer I maybe did it a bit soon. Probably best a week before the flip I'm beginning to learn.

Second I went to water them today but the pots still a little heavy and there is water still in the bottom so they are sweet for maybe another week max. Still not feeding seems the BioBizz Root juice was enough and the Super soil is really igniting now :thumb:

O yeah and one more thing. If I was you I wouldnt use CFL's this far into veg as they just dont seem to grow as fast as a grow under a MH (HID). I would start CFL for seedlings for first 2-3 weeks then switch to maybe a 400w MH and a 600w HPS for flower in my size room. In a perfect world. But not got the full funds for that until flower (BILLS!!!)

Ok here is before the massacre took place.

This is me and I know some do it different but in my tent I dont take off more than 20% of the leaf at a time as I reckon it causes too much shock and heavy shocked plants always grow a bit slower after and never really fully recover. Some may disagree but thats just what ive learnt.

Ok here is after the Defoil, LST and topping session.

The 2 at the back are the strongest of the bunch and 2-4 days older than the middle 2 but they will all be trained this way.

Nice JBC. I am liking the soil so far. The smart pots water them slow as to not let the water drain out the sides give them a good soaking. making sure to saturate the entirety of the pot. On the plastic ones it does this naturally since the water can not escape out of the sides.

But as far as that goes it looks like a kiss setup you cant go wrong
+reps if I can

Yea im trying to get the most out of my 400w before i purchase a bigger wattage lamp. Plus I do want to move into a bigger place before i do so also. The bigger the light the more plants ill be growing. So ill need the space

What killed it was that the price difference ain't that much really. I could have tossed an extra $40 and bought a 1000 watter and ran it 75% or even 50% (not recommended for bulb life).. and then blast that 1000 with the flip. Oh well, I guess my plans are to downsize and go stealth so it's a good thing I didn't get the 1000 after all? lol I'm dreading the change that's about to happen.

Oh man dont let me get started on the rip off part of things. I paid $300 for my MH/HPS including bulbs and then I found the same lamp online for $150. I was so pissed. Then for $160 I couldve got a 600w in the forst place and still had $120 left to play with. I still want to curse the hydro guy out for charging such a price. But that was my noobie fault. I wasnt use to buying off line yet :)

My first 400w HPS had the ballast built into the hood. Very Awkward and heavy...and yeah, the guy at the hydro store told me it was what I wanted, for $250! I sold it 2 years ago to someone a lot younger than me without all the aches and pains. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Yup thats the exact one H. It feels like a trap having this lamp on your hands. Im so eager to get rid of it lmao

Ok Back,

Thanks for stopping by everyone, I'l try to keep them green!

Hey Hozona mate,
It seems you and I are at the same level with grows...I too have had limited success with good ol' potting soil and water. I have also grown in sphagnum peat moss and nothing else but a little Miracle Grow now and then Reps to you for your great photos.

Ha yeh them old cheapo grows are fun but still work surprisingly well. Just goes to show sometimes when you dont have big light , big nutes or super soils you can still grow a decent bud :)

Yeah this is the plan for me also, will have them soon enough I hope.

Hey Potchimp mate,
Seems like that's a good amount of leaves to take off to me. Not too many as to make the plant go into healing mode, and just enough to open up the middle of the plants to light when you tie them down and spread them out. Nice.

Yeah I try to keep stress to a minimal, like you say they go into shock and healing mode which isn't really vegging. Good to see you here Chimp.

Hey shottafire mate,

Good to see you here mate, thanks for info on smart pots, I'l get them covered next week or maybe a bit sooner. TBH they are a bit of a pain but seem to work well, just dont like the flex and qould prefer everything in the same pots but we can see how they do together so that should be good. :thumb:

Hey ismokes mate, good to see you here,
How did you come to that conclusion with defoliation? Did you test this out properly where extreme defoliation and minor defoliation were the only variable? Genuinely interested, not criticizing.

I haven't done any side by side comparison or anything like that. But that info was learnt off 420Magazine on the "How to grow Marijuana" section. Maybe in the trimming section, not defoliation. Also I do know that when you attack a plant too much or take a lot off at one time it takes a while to recover as learnt on my Tangerine Dream. But in the past when I have stressed a plant hard during Veg they have never grew as fast as the others next to it. Serious stress never really recovers and the full veg speed is never there after healing. IMO.

Think that all Q's done, good to see the regs here as usual :) Nice to have you guys in your journal as you all know. Keep it green :peace::Love:

Will update again next saturday unless something cool happens, not sure what that could be, but either something good or something bad, I will show you guys as this journal is really about how the Super Soil Mix performs.

Ok was reading the back of my horse manure bag today when I was making a soil mix for my fruits and veg for spring. I found out that the Horse manure had, soft rock phosphate and Sulphate of Potash in it :) The 2 ingredients I wanted to add for flowering or at the beginning to make the mix complete. Happy days its already there!!!!!

So as I changed it to 70L mix here is it as it stands,

Re-vised Super Soil Mix

Super Soil Mix

The 70L Super Soil Mix is:
- 21L John Innes No2
- 11L John Innes No2 strong mix, also with coco (will keep this part just standard John Innes Westlands)
- 21L Horse Manure Compost (With Phosphates and Potash)
- 15L Perlite
- 400g Worm Castings
- 300g Fish, Bone, Blood Meal (4.7.4)
- 50g Garden Lime
- 50g Sea Bird Guano (1.12.1) + Micro elements
- 75g Mycorrhizal Fungi
- 1 Tbsp Epsom Salts
- 1 Tbsp Calcium Carbonate

Mixed with 11L pots.

The soil was a 2-1 mix of JI Compost/ Horse Manure Compost. :thumb:

Still just adding water when needed, no compost tea needed yet. Will start that during flower with the molasses and Sea bird guano (High P) and compost obviously. JI.

Ok a bit more LST and tiny defoil,
Will see where they are at in 2 weeks and consider flipping. Topped quite a few places also. Watering in 2 days I think.

The little droop and curl is when I take them out and hit them with LST and scissors :) They bounce back in an hour.

Thanks Hozona and Jon,

Yeah i'm happy with them too at the min. Think I got the soil mix dialed quite well. Lucky first Super soil I guess. Good job I got people like DocBud and Subcool420 to learn from.

Doc defo knows how to work the minerals though. Didn't realise the Calcium Carbonate was better than dolomite but used it as it was pure calcium, like I said, a bit of luck went into this mix, Phew...

Thanks again everyone! :thumb:
