JBC's Super Soil - Fully Organic 4x Blue Mystic + 1x CH9 Jack FEMS

I can explain it to you easily.

Certainly we're measuring sugar content, but mainly we're looking at mineral content, which can also be measured with a refractometer.

What we're doing in high brix is basically organics on steroids. The plants are still being fed by microbes and it's entirely possible to get high brix and be 100% organic....but you can do even better if you allow yourself judicious use of safe, natural substances that aren't necessarily OMRI, but are perfectly safe. Things like rock powders, calcium nitrate, etc.

We put minerals into the soil to increase calcium, phosphorus, trace elements and carbon in the proper ratios. On top of that are organic fertilizers, biochar, and hydrolyzed fish. This mix is cooked for 30 days minimum.

Upon transplanting the roots are inoculated with with a product that consists of rock powders and beneficial mychorizae. Then a drench of fishy ferts (organic) is added and away they go.

After that, the microbes in the soil start to break down all the minerals and the organic fertilizers and feed the plant so that its full genetic potential is reached. The right foliar sprays are essential in order to get the soil biology excited.

So, if you understand organics, you already understand high brix. I'm merely making my soil mix differently and feeding them differently.

I use similar variables in coco. Definitely the fish ferts. Thats one reason have that stuff. Also I use Great White. I guess Im half chemical and half organic at the same time. Becasue I use GH organic additives but chemical base nutes. Res! I have to get one of those meters. Can you do brix in hydro? or coco for that matter?

That was very well explained Doc. I'm gona have to hop on to your journal and learn a bit. I have no intentions of switching back to soil. I'm going to be very limited in space (2x2) and hydro is simply the wise decision. There's nothing wrong about learning something new and keeping it in mind.. you never know!
I do have a feeling, tho, that all this work wouldn't be "worth it" for lack of a better word? I mean this in the best way. Please take no offense, you're clearly dedicated and experienced with your methods, I'm not trying to diss them in any way . I'm curious, is the bud really that superior to proper grown hydro bud? I find it hard to believe that the high would be different as Jon described it. Sure it would affect potency, yield, general quality and appeal, but a different high? really? You're gona have to smoke me out on some high brix to convince me brother, it's on you now :) !!! lol

Cheers :grinjoint:

LOL, I'm a glass man, but I do still love my occasional joint. I have this 1g bowl for my bong that I call my test bowl. I fill up a gram, ice that bong up, and let her rip. :laughtwo:, that's how I judge potency RoorRip

I dont know about being more potent just different from what I try to understand lol...to me potent is I cant function after a half joint:tokin:

Teacher Doc bud, Great info.

Hi jon :)

My last organic was my mystery sativa plant which was just a soil mix with some sea bird guano and some lime. The plant was the best in my grow room where others were being fed on all sorts of nutes, whatever they needed at the time. But the soil woth the sea bird guano which has a lot of Micro and Macro nutrients in it was the happiest and easiest to grow. She stayed in the back of the grow room and never caused me a problem. I just left her to it and she turned out fine.

Near the end I gave her some Bud Blaster 0-25-30 or something like that and that started to cause problems as it killed a lot of the soil life, but until then it was fine and pruduced a lot of weed for a cfl grow, this is her, she cant even hold her head up :)

So to me , Ive tried coco , not hydro and soil and soil mixes and I find (For me) Soil mixes are so easy, they just do it no help needed, just water whenever you like sort of thing. I'l post pictures of my Blue Mystics tomorrow with a picture of 2 days ago to show you how well they are doing. Until then here is that Mystery sativa, which I might add was a poo strain and wont be wasting my time with mystery seeds again.

These were on my last journal but are relevant now. Keep the hijacking and info coming boys! :laughtwo:

The yellowing only started when I added the high Phosphorus feed, was fine until that day. But got told by DocBud that High P Chelated feeds kill microbial life, so we be doing that this time, but was still a winner besides the actual strain which I had no control over.

1gram!! holy sh*t!! I role 2-3 joints out of a gram and the wife and I never make it through a whole one.I'd probably puke if I tried that lmao

Mate im the same 3 zoots to a 1gram but half my mates make 1g zoots which I think is just crazy, but they dont have the bills I have some of them.

Yea Smoke I know what you mean on over crowded journals on your update list. Im trying to follow 30 of them now. I was going to do a update on the first grow journal but will do so when I chop the plant down this week. The ones in DWC and coco are looking good and ready to go in the flower room. I had to sell most of my plants I had to many :)

Yea 1 gram should be enough for 2 joints. I use raw papers King Size which is very good indeed. Slow burn. Still dont own a bong yet.

Nice grow under CFL's JBC. :thumb:

feeding the soil with a non organic boosted like monster bud or whatever you use kills the microbes in the soil, but what i have found in my organic bin outside is if you just feed the root ball then the rest of the media is just fine. i started feeding monster bud 0.50.30 she has had 3feeds and showed no sign of discomfort. i built a mound of dirt around the base of the stem to keep the water going directly down and not spreading out. this way im only feeding the base root ball so 90% of the bin has not been drenched and continues to work extremly well. move half an inch of my bin layer and there are 10000000000000000000000000's of little white things devouring everything. and worms a plenty. get some pics going soon

little white things? on the roots??

i dont have gnats. LOL. but yeah tiny little white things millions of them, when i throw food scraps in my bin within a hour the scraps are absolutly covered in them little things breaking down all the goodness in the soil. when i used a bioactivator for 3weeks during veg they started appearing. it was a probiotic for the soil.. i tell ya what it works good. they are EVERYWHERE!!! plant is as strong and resilent as any ive come across.
