Jay's Move From SCROG To SOG - Jock Horror - Aurora Indica - & Papaya

Hey JayCSeed... nice grow. I have a home office and I also use it for a grow room. I have built in a corner "closet" for my grows and I need to buy an exhaust system to cover the smell. What brand/size is that inline fan and carbon filter setup on your tent (my grow area is a little smaller than your tent)? Would you recommend it or would you buy a different set up? I need something that completely covers the smell as folks come in my office now and then.

I appreciate the info...

:Namaste:

Hey Hillbilly, thanks for stopping by and checking out the grow! The fan is made by DL Wholesale and is 435 cfm, I bought it when I got my HID light with 6" cooltube because my 260cfm was only 4" and I wanted something that would move more air through the cooltube. It definitely moves a lot of air but it is loud as hell. If your not worried about removing a lot of heat I would go with something like this.

XtremepowerUS 4" Inline Duct Fan 260 CFM

This is what I was originally using when all I was running was LED lighting in my tent and you can adjust the speed and it's pretty quiet too.
I don't use a carbon filter because I exhaust the air out side and I live where growing is state legal, wish I could be of more help in that area but I've never used one so I'm not sure what brands are worth the money. If you don't have a lot of plants then I'm sure even a small filter will help keep the smell away. Hope I was a little helpful with all that lol. I'll be sure to check out your journal!

Here is a shot of the Papaya, she is almost ready and I think I am going to harvest her top main colas and let the bottoms finish up a little while longer.

I pollinated a lower branch of each strain with the hermy Papaya flowers. They are still a little ways away from being done so that's another reason for the staggered harvest.

I will also let the Jock Horror and Aurora go a few more weeks. Harvest time is near and I'm already planning my next run.

So im not sure why but my HPS bulb went bad again, I think it may have to do with the digital timer but have no idea:/ I've decided to do away with the HID light all together and go with just LEDs so I bought 2 of these King Plus 1000w LEDs from amazon for $109 a piece.

I'm sure there are better lights out there but my grow area is small and the price was right so I went for it. I should get them Saturday some time and I look forward to revamping the setup. I can now get rid of the super loud exhaust fan and us my much quieter one. I will also be doing a little staggered harvesting on Saturday as well. Pictures of both to come!

Got the new lights in yesterday and after a successful test run I removed the hid light and installed them in the tent. It's hard to tell from this picture but they are significantly brighter than the other led I have in there.

I also removed the main cola branches from the Papaya and trimmed and hung them up to dry, it has been a bit rainy lately and rh in the garage is around 55/65% so they should dry nice and slow.

I left the bottom branches to finish up another week or so and then I'll harvest it and the Jock Horror and Aurora. I did find a few mature seeds while trimming and put them in a container for storing. I'm assuming they are self pollinated but can't be 100% because they were not on a branch that I pollinated and marked. I guess I'll find out when I plant them.

I had given a few nice samples of buds to a friend of mine a while back, he ended up giving me 7 seeds, all dark brown and healthy looking. I've got them separated and in a baggie with others of my seed collection. Can't wait to see what they are. I'm guessing hermied seeds from a stressed plant, I've only had one and the stress was pretty bad so I'm thinking the genetics and pheontype should be just fine. Always nice when you have some mystery to work with! Plants are looking great Jay!

Thanks, Age! I'm sure I'll find a few more when its time to smoke plus I still have the branch that I self pollinated that I haven't harvested. I'm thinking I'll run a bunch of the mystery seeds with a 2-3 week veg and see what happens. I have 16 different strains calling my name and its hard to decide what I want to do next. Such a horrible problem to have, right?! lol

I've got a fair amount of seeds, and now I'm working with my new ones so everything else is taking a back seat. I've got some great strains just waiting in the wings for their moment to shine, but I've got plans. Oh, have I got plans!!!!

Definitely a first world problem!

Cant wait to see the rest of the harvest.

It should be a good harvest, Sam! I just ordered new jars for curing and storage, and while consolidating my back stock of bud I realized that I have some bud that's been curing for almost a year!

Interested to see how your Jock Horror and AK48 come out! I think my JH was slowed down due to the cold in my old garage, once I moved to my new place with a insulated garage she really seemed to start putting on some good bud. I have some AK48 seeds from Nirvana that at some point I'll try out, I gave your journal a quick scan now its time to go give it a proper read;)

The first harvest of the Papaya is still drying, I actually had to set up my small veg tent and run a small fan and dehumidifier to help things along. It had been four days on Wednesday and they were as wet as the day I chopped them. After 2 days running like that they are finally starting to dry out a bit, I turned the dehumidifier off for the night and will check the RH in the morning, I'll probably alternate running it for 12 on and 12 off till the bud is ready to jar.

I flushed the remainin Papaya and the JH and Aurora with plane water. I want to see if there is any difference between flushing and not before harvest. I will let everything go for a week and then it's harvest time. I'm already planning the next grow and getting excited to try some new things, thinking of doing a proper sog and vegging for a few weeks and keeping them small and one main cola. Can't wait to start a new round!!

Decisions decisions decisions.... Ready to get the next round going but I'm having a hard time deciding what to grow!

Seeing all those film canisters brings the memories flooding black! I've used those containers for all kinds of things, including carrying film...

I can remember when I had them everywhere just waiting to store stuff in them, funny thing is I actually had to order these when I wanted a bunch to store my seeds!
