InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

Quick question....

Which would you rather clean your paint brushes in?

Re-re distilled Everclear or Terpinator?

Thanks for your time.

Well the general rule has been 1Tbs to 8oz of oil, rather than per mg of THC.

8 ounces is 236ml so the rest is up to you!

Remember, liquid sunflower lecithin goes in after infusion (and straining), not before.
Hi Shed, I am four pages behind. I had forgotten all about the benefits of lecithin. Is it really worth adding to oil for meds? I know you said EVO for meds and coconut for recreational, but I do my meds in coconut so that I can have that with coffee. How will it make a difference if I add Lecithin? Will it make it more potent, or longer lasting, what? Thanks Shed.

I know Shed can explain it better than me, but the short answer is Liquid Sunflower Lecithin for all edibles. Not needed for topicals. My opinion is: The type of oil you use for edibles is mostly your own preference. Whatever tastes better to you. For topicals, most of us here use grapeseed or pumpkin seed oils or a combination. They absorb into the skin better. I hope this helps.:Namaste:

The point of adding liquid sunflower lecithin is exponentiate your meds. A previous member, far more knowledgeable than I am, said this:

Use liquid sunflower lecithin in your process and you'll increase the bioavaibility from around 25% to more than 80%. Not a bad deal, eh? Use the oil as capsules inserted as suppositories and you stand a chance of getting up to 90%.

What's the scoop on the clone roots?
The scoop will never be posted at 6:09am Pacific time, but it will be posted for the Thursday update!

Here are the cuttings this morning: Sour G on the left, Jack Herers on the right:

Here is the Sour G, with two root nubs:

And here are the Jack Herers:

Though it's not scientific yet, the one not treated with Dip'n Grow rooting hormone has the most roots. This is preliminary data so take it under advisement!

I won't be keeping the Jack Herers, but the proof of concept is 100% proven for me! I'll be making Sour G seeds so I will be giving that one another week and then planting it if it has roots.

:thanks: to @Heavenly Hybrid and @Virgin Ground for guiding me through this very simple cloning process!

On to the quotes >>>

Thank you to BL and HG for jumping in with the answer to your question! The only thing I have to add is that it was @Cannasavvy (a professional canna-chef) who did the original research on when to add LSL (after infusion/straining but while the oil is warm), and you can find her posts on the topic starting here. I'm not sure the percentage numbers from the post HG quoted are accurate, but the concept is grounded in the scientific work that Cannasavvy did.

[edit: One other point is that I recall being told that using LSL for topicals is helpful as well. Though rubbing LSL on my skin doesn't seem to be something I want to do, so I haven't done it!]

Use liquid sunflower lecithin
Thanks HG. Do you or does anyone know if it is only sunflower lecithin, or whether soy lecithin would work too? Is it just that it must be food grade or what?
Thanks @BeezLuiz and Shed

I think soy lecithin has some hormones that can be detrimental to some. Mostly men I would guess since they are highly estrogenic.

Liquid sunflower lecithin is what has always been recommended. Here is an article about the differences:

I can't vouch for the website and most "health food" websites tend to make me think it's all just snake oil, but the general info is something I have read elsewhere.

Also, this:

Also, yes...food grade is a must!

Missed this...
You knew it would, and I'm glad you were part of it. Maybe we can partner again soon on something, and if you want to stick to English, "bless you" is perfectly acceptable.

Regarding roots, would you plant the more-rooted JH (or even both), or wait for more?
I plant then as soon as they have a few roots. Those have plenty.

Bless you!!
You've earned it.;)

Re above, the former member I quoted before said this about LSL in topicals:

If you add a tablespoon of liquid sunflower lecithin, it helps make a smoother topical oil.

Thanks VG! I found a taker for the JH clones as well as all three Red Dragons, so they will live on. :)

Thank you HG. Having put LSL in my oils and having had to wash it off the spoon, I don't care how smooth it makes it (like oil isn't smooth enough?), it's not something I want to add to my topicals!
Nice nubs Shed. And very nice roots! Well done, I’m glad to see it worked well for you.
:thanks: for your help and persistence!
