InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

No different than tobacco... You have people that buy the mass produced garbage and you have people that grow their own or buy high quality from smaller scale growers.

Ignoring the addictive and destructive qualities of tobacco, a huge majority of people who want to smoke think Marlboros are just fine. I wish vegetables from Vons tasted like the ones from the farmer's market, but they're better than not eating vegetables at all.

well there is an inate problem with the whole bio-small scale farms ..i mean we all want to eat healthier or smoke healther ( as far as that counts) more taste full food and we all agree that that is the best way to go ... but ... we only wanna pay the prices that comes with mass production ... and you are guaranteed that mass production megacorps will try to cut corners and use illegal or harmfull products because they are dirt cheap , i mean every year there are incidents with large scale production facilities that allowed harmfull chemicals find their way into te foodchain, that hit the newsmedia i mean i can talk about a few just from the top of my head ... RoundUp and Fipronil to name a few or beef pumped up with steroids back in the 90's, antibiotics in chicken ... you only see that in mass production to cut any costs possible ...

sry for the rant ... but sometimes i get sad from the way our world is evolving ...

Also no different than wine, a limited few make their own. You can spend big dollars or get two buck chuck. I grow grapes over my porch on an arbor, so my wine is "porch wine".:thumb::Namaste:

I can only hope ganja doesn't go down that same route and start getting unhealthy unnatural fillers/materials added to it. But I wouldn't mind a pack of mid quality dank like the way cigs are packaged... Except all natural and rolled with hemp paper.

Nice! Your neighbors must love you :). And choices are good!

Exactly. And imagine a 20,000 plant mega-farm cranking out well-grown high CBD strains to sell at reasonable prices to all those who can use that but can't afford $45/8th.

Re: InTheShed Grows Photos Inside & Out! 420 Clones & A Rooster Farms Seed

Dude cbd ounce is always more than normal. They were selling charolletes web for 600 a zip. Funny part is they were throwing that weed away at one point because they couldn't even give it away. But now they know it treats hundreds of conditions it's worth 3 times more than normal quality herbs

i think legalizing is one thing but legalizing megafirms to grow 20.000 plants is another ... in my opinion they should limit to maybe 30-40 ... thats when ye gonna get the quality back and not the hyper hydro mega corp bulk... i hate the whole ganjapreneurs hype its ruining the whole cannabis culture ... i wish i could timetravel to the hippie age ... that must have been a swell period to be a teen in ... i mean ... music, sex and herb ... what more could one wish for ... now i see scenes where many dozens of ppl stand in line at a dispensary ... jeez

Drop by and grab me when you get your machine. Back to music and gonja, (I don't know about you but sex is still good around here!!!) to me, both were way better in the day. (Ganja in the sense of culture) There are still a few commercial growers who do care though. You can tell by the 2-4 jars at the dispensary that smell just friggin fire! The other 40-60 are just garbage. Being involved with the music industry for many years now, I've seen an extreme drop in abilities of musicians, especially singers. A few of the greats would record to tape, a whole song. No stops. No let's fix it later. You had to. No Pro Tools! Just tools of pros. I see that same attitude coming into the pot game. I miss Skunk#1. It stank like a skank! Now clients come in with "Oh you have to check this shit out man!" I smell it and realize I don't. "Where did you get that?" I ask. "The Dispensary" They reply. It's pretty bad when my hop-along-Cheese Auto is way better smelling that what they paid $45 for at the store.

Like dynamo said, it's good to hit all the price points. Pay for dank stank if you can afford it, but if you need to make oil for meds, dank stank might not be the goal. Also, for those of you who haven't known me long, I hate the smell of cheese dope.

Friday update is two pics of Sour G after the topping, smiling and with leaves reaching for the sun on day 34!

The clones got a tap water soak this morning, and I'll be making eggs this weekend to use the shells for a calcium additive (thanks MadDab for the link!). There will be pics of the process for y'all.

Weekend...I can almost taste it!

To each their own! I love that Cheese smell, even though mine is way sweeter smelling than Cheesy. Girls are looking good. I am very interested in the egg trick. I might try it too.

Nice job with that topping ITS. Looks perfect! Happy Saturday! Cheers, LG

Thanks LadyG! It's been a busy Saturday so I'm getting here late. My son's HS baseball tryouts were this morning (he did pretty well!) and this is the first time the school has a team so it would be great if he made it. We find out about second round on Friday. I transplanted Gold Leaf today, made a Ca supplement from eggshells, ran my topical oil through another round to make it stronger, got a headache, took a nap, and finally here I am.

If y'all promise not to "Reply With Quote" I'll put it all in one huge post, okay?

First up, Gold Leaf up-pot! Not too big, not too small, let's see how it looks:

Here's the root ball...looks about time:

Happily moved in:

Moving on, my wife made scrambled cheese eggs for her yoga crew this morning (and me :) and our dog of course), so I had 9 eggshells to work with for the Ca for the AK. I washed them first with soapy water inside and out, put them in a baking tray, and dried them in the oven for about 30 minutes at 180º F.

20180217_150159.jpg

Then I broke them into little pieces and put them in a sauce pan. I was about to use a frying pan but then realized all of our frying pans are teflon, and given that there was a lot of heat and very little to absorb it, I thought better of that. Stainless steel:

This part took a while and was very smelly. I cooked them over varying sized flames depending on how fast the whole thing was going and stirred them as they browned. I wanted them all as dark as possible.

Into the grinder they went:

And then into a mason jar:

20180217_153750.jpg

I ended up with about 1½ tablespoons, to which I added 9 tablespoons of white vinegar. I can't find a ratio for this anywhere on the web, so if anyone has any hints here, please let me know. 9 tbs seemed right for no reason at all:

20180217_153136.jpg

It bubbled for a while, and when it stopped, I screwed on the lid.

20180217_154342.jpg

I shake it ever time I walk by, and when I burp it it stinks! It's supposed to ferment for 2 weeks or something but I don't have that long. We'll see.

Okay, on to the oil! If y'all remember, I had made topical oil a while back in a crock pot. It turns out, after calculating the strength, that it was on the weak side at under 7mg THC/ml oil. I wanted to be well over 10mg so I decided to run it through again.

OldBear created a great oil-strength spreadsheet and posted it in the Oil Study Hall thread and gave me some advice on how to calc a re-run of the oil. Using his numbers I needed about 45 grams of decarbed buds for my 18 ounces of oil. And now that I had a Magical Butter machine (thanks for your votes!), I decided to try it out. I must say that making this would be oil would be incredibly expensive if I didn't grow my own, as that would be like $500 worth or something. I used almost all of Blueberry 4 for this.

Here's my decarbed bud which lost about 3 grams in the decarb process (240ºF for 1:20 which includes 20 minutes of getting the buds to temp):

20180217_140950.jpg

I poured the oil in first, but probably should have done it the other way. So I mixed it all up before I put the lid on:

4 hours at 160ºF:

20180217_142925.jpg

4 hours later I was up from my nap (I wasn't asleep the whole time!) and here's what I saw when I opened the lid:

20180217_182909.jpg

I poured it through the included straining bag (190 screen mesh) and squeezed out what I could with the big green heat-resistant glove. Then I put the mash into the potato ricer to get out a little more:

20180217_183445.jpg

I put some of the mash in capsules which my wife said she might consider taking. I said I didn't think they'd be very strong given how little oil would be in that small amount. We'll see:

20180217_185421.jpg

I started with 18 ounces of oil and got back about 14, so there's 4 ounces in the mash. Eventually she may make brownies with all of it. I hope it's not too gritty and the chocolate covers the flavor :).

So that was my day...how was yours?

So that was my day...how was yours?
Crazy busy in the shop today poking holes in people. TGIMF.
Looks like you had a good productive day. And you even managed a nap. Lucky dog! I wish the MB didn't spin the blades so hard cuz it flings stuff everywhere. Doesn't it seem that a gentle mixing would do the job? Not sure the reasoning behind the whirling blades of death.

Re: InTheShed Grows Photos Inside & Out! 420 Clones & A Rooster Farms Seed

Cool to see you doin that with the eggshells.. will be watching to see how it works out for ya. Always wanted to try grinding em up and putting them in the soil. Didnt think about cookin them, then adding the vinegar too.. nice looking oil too man!! ..
