InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

I don't often measure PPM runoff in veg, but I do every time in flower. Flower is when I try to hit some pretty high numbers so I want to see what's happening.

Right now I'm around 700 PPM in on AK and Gold Leaf. Sour G is on 75% strength, so 525 PPM.

Man, I can't get the GH Go-Box set to go over like 550PPM. I saw some nute burn after the second to last feeding when I gave more Bloom, CalMag & Bio Bud than they recommended. I probably went 2-5mls extra depending. I might do one more feed but then it's flush time. [Edit: ^That is regarding the Auto Cheese in Flower]

I haven't had much time to play with them since I added the silica but I will definitely let you know when I do. I'm just at the ¼ tsp/gallon strength now if that makes a difference.

Is this what I should do to bulk those wispy stems on Cheese5?

Sooo funny about the Trump joke, hahahahaha.

That Sour G looks really thick, I bet she's a monster when you finish. I wonder if her stalk is producing the straw-like canal for her feedings.

Your wife is a hoot, I play that joke all the time, I bet the hubby he can't do something, he does it and then I go smoke it, yup sounds very familiar from the wife code book.

Congratulations once again, I love all the goodies you get!

It's supposed to strengthen stems, but I don't know if that makes them any better at producing buds. Maybe just better at supporting the ones it makes.

With the FoxFarms line I can hit any numbers I want, but those are the only nutes I've used so I don't have an answer for ya.

Damn, it was from a code book? And here I thought she being was serious :)

Almost everything I'm growing is for her. The leftovers go to my topical oil for aches and pains. Anyway, yours isn't a hobby. She might not have you around if it weren't for the devil weed!

hehe sometimes I ask her if she rather have me blowing coke again when she blackmails me with it ... then i ask if she prefers me spending 50€ a day or 50 every few months. but she slowly is accepting that the devil weed will never go away ;) it brought me back from the dark side hehe

Ppm same as tds ? And measure run off even ppm with soil.? You Go for high numbers? Tell me more. I'm still following general Organics go box schedule and doses. But I'm hoping to never have to PH or necessarily know what I'm doing. I use coast of Maine premium mix for soil. Sounds similar to the gold ?

Lady G! Your not supposed to divulge code of conduct from the Handbook! But now that you have...Hey Shed, don't bet her that you have more money in your wallet than she does....cuz she'll pull Jane Jetson on you!:rofl::rofl:

And by the way! I love me some hemp seeds in my morning smoothie! Put them in you oatmeal too! I make hemp seed, almond flour, and flax crackers. I have to find that recipe. Yummy!

There's EC, TDS, and PPM. EC is electrical conductivity, TDS stands for Total Dissolved Solids and is measured in PPM. EC is the base number that PPM is calculated from. They measure the same thing, but depending on your meter and where you live, some manufacturers multiply the EC by 700 and some by 500. My meter is 500 scale.

Here is the difference between the two scales:
"The ppm 700 scale is based on measuring the KCl or potassium chloride content of a solution. The ppm 500 is based on measuring the NaCl or sodium chloride content of a solution and is also referred to as TDS - total dissolved solids."

I'm not sure why you wouldn't measure PPM in soil. It's a good idea to know that if you're pouring 700 PPM in and 1100 is coming out, you probably have a good deal of solids in your soil you may not want. If it comes out at 300 PPM, your soil could use more nutes going in. In veg I'm in the 500-700 range, and in flower I'm in the 900-1000 range.

I don't pH runoff but I absolutely pH what I put in. Between the high pH of my tap water to the high pH of my silica to the low pH of my nutes, I need to make sure that what I'm giving the plant is something in the range that it can drink!

And since I don't consider the Pot of Gold soil particularly "hot," I nute :).

Oh I would never bet that! She hands me a 20 when my wallet is empty so she's always carrying more than I am. Anyway, I almost never spend any cash and if I'm broke it's because I gave money to my son for food :).

Do you grind the hemp seeds first (like I do with my flax every morning)? They have the shells on so they look like they would pass through undigested.

I had talked myself into ro water, nutes as directed and add molasses and microbes on top. That the microbes would do my ph buffering so I figured what I put in was almost irrelevant. Makes sense tho

Not sure if Penny will chime in here but I know that he tried RO and gave it up for his tap water. He found it created deficiencies he then had to correct for. It was easier and better for the plants to start with what was in the tap water. Now, if you live near a Superfund site...

Penny a soil grower? With the amount of chlorine in my water alone I don't drink it or feed it to plants with microbes
