InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

Will do, and I plan on getting to the G3 tomorrow. Had a few side effects from my new cholesterol med which has moved the timeline a bit.

Thanks KBuenos! I always shake my seeds in an Altoids tin lined with sandpaper before I drop them in water, and I did sb's 10 as well. And after realizing how hot my heat mat got within a few days of first buying it I turned around and got a @VIVOSUN thermostat to control it. Excellent purchase.
yeah, the thermostat is key for sure, there was a time when I would use a cooling rack for cookies and some paper between my heat mat and my seeds, and then I had to watch it because of the ambient temperature, that works well enough for before I got med. I was fortunate because I had a gift card and a digital coupon,

A Happy Veteran's day to all who have served our country, whether still with us or passed on (my dad for example ). Thank you so much for your commitment to the protecting the constitution of the US of A.
:thanks:

Been a while since I've updated you on the attempt to germinate the 30 year old seeds that @smokesbetter gave me. I was going to walk you through the entire GA3 process from mixing to soaking to the results, but since the I didn't get a single one to split it seems like a waste of time to draw this out with that.

So instead, here are the seeds after 24+ hours of soaking in 125, 250, and 500ppm of GA3:

Not a split, not a tail.

In the event of failure, sb asked that I cut one open to see what they looked like inside, so I cut one of each batch open as well as the one I saved out. Here they are (details in the file names):

It looks to me that the seeds absorbed the water, but there was nothing in there to sprout (can you tell I'm not a botanist?).

Anyway, I saved the ones I didn't cut in case sb wants me to get them back to him, but otherwise this is the end of the sprouting-of-old-seeds experiment. It may have worked with the banana or GA3 if these had been stored in ideal conditions, but I don't think they were. Sorry to disappoint...I gave it my best shot.

For those interested in what protocol I used for the GA3, I kind of followed this video (sign-in required), except I dissolved the GA3 in 91% iso first rather than straight into water, and I used different ppms and amounts of distilled water for the dilutions (I mixed much smaller batches).

And finally, here is a last pic of the Candida seed germination tests that sprouted back on June 11th and were immediately attacked by thrips:

They've lived outside since and were doing fine with water and GeoFlora Bloom every two weeks (after I killed the caterpillar), but I decided to let them go long past harvest to see what would happen. They died because they're annuals.

That's it from me today. I'm thinking of dropping a couple of @Justin Goody's autos to keep in the tent this winter so I have something to do, so I'll let you know when that happens. Thanks for following along, and I need to go catch up on a lot of missed posts... :slide:

That sounds Great on your way to feeling better , new meds. can take it out of you for sure till you get used to them .
Thanks sb! As long as my eyes don't go yellow I might be okay with this one. Only been a week so we'll see. :)
I would be interested in knowing if there is a embryo in the seed or just dried up .
Done, and thanks so much for trust and opportunity to give them a shot. :Namaste:
Oh i was going to ask did you get any of the smoke over ur way from the latest fire ?
Luckily no. It's far enough north and the wind isn't carrying it down here.
Happy to hear that you’re feeling better Shedster. Wishing you n yours all the best. CL🍀
Thank you Captain, to you and yours as well.

Well nothing ventured nothing gained but maybe 🤔 if you tried seeds from this century you might have had better results. Interesting experiment 🔬 just the same though. TTYL ✌🏻 Shedster CL🍀

Hello Shed , Thank You Sir for doing this and giving it the time they needed to see if they would sprout . The first pic/seed looks like it was trying to form a tail but just didn't have the hump !
Yeah the seeds where found in a draw in my Dads old room , so not the best of situations. .;.
Toss the seeds I have no use for them plus i do have a few more / I may try some of them after being in the freezer this spring WE SEE anyway THANKS again !! :adore:

Funny thing about that expression is that when I was younger I thought it was "nothing ventured nothing lost"! Can you tell how risk-averse I am?

This century probably would have been better, but left in a drawer for even 20 years might not have given me anything to work with. I've got plenty of 5 or 6 year old seeds in the fridge I hope are as good as the day I got them. :)
Valiant effort Shed! Thanks! The seedtopsy almost seems like they may could have made it. They old!
Thanks Otter! I'm going to slice open one of my many Sour G seeds to see what a fresher one looks like inside.

Glad to be able to give it a go sb...for science! And :goodluck: with the spring planting (where I assume there will be a couple of Sour G's in the mix, yes?).
oh and Glad you where far enough from the smoke as not to worry all these fires suck i hate it for ya'll
Me too, as when they are close it's hard to spend any time outside.
Valiant effort on the seeds! I thought your Positive Karma would have given you Better results.
Thank you MedSci, and as I've recently learned, positive karma only goes so far. 🤷‍♂️
I am Happy to hear you will be running a couple plants over the winter. I watching you grow!
I'm thinking of grinding up some of The Wizard auto to see if my wife is interested in me giving that another try. 10.3 grams won't last too long if she likes it!
Does that mean you have to change your name to InTheTent?
Nah, I also decided against InTheBackyard. ;)
