InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

Mental note Gas Station cbd Bad! Lmao CL🍀
I think most of the stuff that they call CBD that is in the market here is microdosing nonsense that is really just ineffective and expensive. I don't think CBD growing is much of a thing here. @Lerugged what do you know about CBD products here. I mainly see the gas station versions. I once got my hands on an awesome CBD oil privately made by a nursery owner, but I think that is fairly rare. At least I think CBD at the levels we need it to be is unlikely to be legal for sale. I wouldn't bother taking anything off the shelf here.

There are a couple decent ones. They are crazy expensive though. I have a 50ml dropper bottle that cost me about R2500 which to me is a lot. I use it for events when people have consumed too much THC and it works incredibly well. I generally wouldn't touch gas station cbd.

Gosh! I was going to ask you to hook me up but at R2.5k that's Cape Town prices lololol... the good one I got from the nursery guy cost me R650 if I remember correctly but it was a 20ml I think. Of course that was before these things became popular. Now you see the gas station type in lollies, carbonated cooldrinks etc all over the place, as well as pharmaceutically produced lotions, salves that sort of thing but honestly I think it is a kind of scam in a way. I am going to try to grow some high percentage CBD but I probably may, as Shed suggests, try and do a photoperiod grow. I just need to figure out the logistics. The dark period is the challenge because I am in a complex with lots of streetlights... time to start shopping around for a 2nd hand starter tent methinks....⛺

Monday miscellaneous mish-mash update!

Let's start with the winter grow in the tent yesterday (today too...rainy here) on flip day 16:

And there are finally pistils on the Le Creme CBG:

Speaking of LeC, I took a tester off the auto hanging in the shed (that update was here if you missed it) and flash dried it in a toaster canoe:

Weighed in at .458g after that:

I ground it up and gave it to my wife who was headed out for brunch. She and a friend shared it in a clean pipe, so the early smoke report is:

"It didn't get me high."

That's a good start anyway!

Finally, I floated out two of the four perlite cups of cuttings (they've been on the desk longest).

Candida (cut 1/1/23):

LeC (cut 1/19/23):

Nothing yet. Maybe they're too cold even on the heat mat. Either way, this is why I use soil and domes for cuttings I really need to root quickly!

Anyway, that was my weekend. I hope yours was exactly as productive or lazy as you wished. Contests? Go vote! :peace:

No gas station CBD...noted! :)

Almost more important than high percentage CBD is really low THC (like under 1%). The breeders that try to come up with some balanced ratio are usually not even close to specs at harvest. Candida isn't really high in CBD (12-15% I find) but the very low THC is what makes it valuable.

Also, whatever ratio breeders come up with might not work for you at any given time. It's best to be able to create a blend that works for you using some THC and some CBD until you find the sweet spot.

A tent to grow photos can be a big help (load shedding aside) when trying to keep your medicine cabinet stocked with what works. :thumb:

Looking great at Flip Day 16, almost time for a cleanup. And I love the toaster canoe :)

Thanks LKA! Next weekend I'll do a good cleanup on the LeC, but I may leave more than usual on the LKA since it's got more of a sativa structure than most of my plants. If it's never going to do solid top colas I'd rather keep more down below so not to ding the yield too bad.

That toaster canoe is great for testers...no waiting for it to dry on the DVR but same green taste. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Your plants are looking lush as usual Shed! :Rasta:

And from the peanut gallery:

FTFY!

At least they still look healthy. I’m sure the humidity domes are helping there too.

And the tent is just clean a comfy. :thumb:

Friday update on the Le Creme CBG auto! Today is day 79 and I'll be taking it down tomorrow, so let's have a detailed look at it before the chop.

It's very frosty, and I'll be saving the trim for sure. The leaves are pretty much shot but it might be rootbound in there...we'll see tomorrow. đź‘€

And here are some many trichome shots for your viewing pleasure:

In other news, I transplanted the lemon sprout that was merely a seed back in September. No root ball but that's now how citrus trees grow:

That's it from me today! Rolling into the weekend like :surf:

Sunday update of Saturday's harvest of the Le Creme CBG auto on day 80!

Last pic before it met the pruners up close:

After a quick water-only bath:

Here they are trimmed and hanging in the shed, with a fan blowing about 3 feet below them:

And finally, not root bound:

There were a lot more aphids than I expected, but I never did spray it with anything since it went into flower so early. They all got trimmed away and dumped in the green bin. :)

That's it for me! I hope your Sunday goes swimmingly... đź’¦

Why thanks Carmen! It never occurs to me to enter anything into PhOTM.

Google?

"All cannabinoids start out as a singular compound, called cannabigerol (CBG), that eventually degrades into several different molecules. These include cannabidiol (CBD), cannabichromene (CBC), and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)."

I certainly don't want THC!

Thanks, done and done!

Fat oof! Hope you got paid well. đź’°

Thanks Otter...it is a pretty frosty little thing. 🎇

Thank you Bode! This one is supposed to not get her high. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Thanks sb! I hope to get nothing but positive (non-high) feedback from this one. :)
thats broken asses n krissi roots looked. guess they didnt rootbound either.🤔

"It didn't get me high."
That was what you wanted to hear... good news

I was thinking that too. There was an extreme flood in their region last year and the whole area washed away. I believe the nursery was taken with it. I must ask around and see if they have opened up again anywhere else.

Right. I was told that terroir affects the thc levels in cannabis plants. Is that correct? That some regions are able to legally grow hemp and others cannot produce hemp with low enough thc levels to qualify? Does that sound right?

Thanks GDB!
Har!
Looking healthy Shed! Certainly worth a round of toaster canoes.
Thank you Stunger! The rest of the plant is taking its time drying in the shed with nights in the mid 40s and rain the last two days.
At least they still look healthy. I’m sure the humidity domes are helping there too.
Thanks Nev...they look happier than they oughtta with no roots yet! And no domes either. Hydro cuttings (perlite/bubble/aeroponic) don't need them.
And the tent is just clean a comfy.
Trying to run a tight ship since it's in my son's room. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Probably why they looked so good (drought notwithstanding)!

Yes! I may even take a hit on some of that tester to see what it does to a THC virgin...or maybe not. Maybe I'll just make oil. :hmmmm:

Damn, shame about the flood and the nursery. Mother nature is not a happy camper these days.
Right. I was told that terroir affects the thc levels in cannabis plants. Is that correct?
The grow environment definitely plays a part in cannabinoid levels, which is why breeder THC numbers are probably the max the plant can produce under perfect growing conditions. What we get is most likely lower in our plants.

In states without progressive MJ laws, the only cannabis that can be grown is hemp, which is federally defined here as containing no more than 0.3% THC.
Those two winter ladies are having a couple of days of inner beauty.
Again with the poetry...thanks Otter!

I didn't realize that you have never tried THC. It would be quite interesting in that case, to see if it has any psychoactive effect on you.

I know, it's happening all over the place, isn't it.
no more than 0.3% THC.
Same here.

I started getting high in the early 1970s and quit in 1981 and haven't smoked since. I'm going to have some other folks give it a try to get a range of opinions and I'll update here.

It truly is.
Same here.
Oh good, we can synchronize our watches!
