InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

I orphaned this morning's pics...they're here!

Oof...I completely forgot to include the mother-trimming pics in yesterday's post! I took the cuttings Sunday, but cuttings in perlite look pretty much the same all the time.

Here are the before and after on the mother trim from Sunday:

Thanks Jon!
They do? You put them in the perlite all sweet right after you cut them and they stay that way? They don't droop for a day or two and come back to this? Interesting. Would that be true in a medium other than perlite?

They stay the same in perlite, and pretty much in hydroponic and aeroponic cloners as well (no domes needed). The only drooping I've seen is in solid media (peat/soil/coco) if you take the domes off too early.

Soil is pH'd higher because it contains micronutrients. They pH it higher to prevent the plant from taking up too much of anything creating toxicities. Peat is inert, so they pH it lower to allow for maximum micronute absorption from the synthetics we use.
Every day learning something new, thanks Shed! Lol haven't ever even looked up why, how&when to use peat.
Thought it's just buffered to 5.7 to be more "seedling friendly" substrate. But that makes perfect sense!

Being wiser if I ever end up dealing with soil again :cheesygrinsmiley:

Thanks...we'll see how painful the trimming is at harvest!
Well I'd take that at any second - scissor finger itches :laughtwo:

So when folks mix them together they're trying to achieve what, a happy medium?

I hope that's soon Verbalist, once you can put the grow back together again. :Namaste:

LOL :welldone:

It's also called more trouble than it's worth!
Why so, Shed? PH issues?

Why so, Shed? PH issues?
Mostly, yes. It makes it harder to diagnose any issues that show up down the line.

Most soils have some peat in them anyway, but they're blended at the factory by professionals. Folks like to think they can create something better because of some sense they have, but they often lose track of the what makes each medium unique and different from the others.

If you want to blend your own mix of something, you would need to test it and be able to understand the results to see how it works in your situation. And you shouldn't be surprised if it doesn't go as planned.

Well I am testing it real-time. I just mixed a smorgasbord for some clones I'm running. Not only that, but I'm growing them using Realgrowers "Grow Dots" for the first time.

If things go haywire, I'll likely have no clue why! But thanks for the advanced warning. :laughtwo:

The cuttings look lovely and fresh in the perlite, the Trainwreck and Purple Urkle look so happy in their new pots and the mothers look lighter. Your Jack Herer looks beautifully in flower... all appears well in your grow, Shed. You just keep them running like clock work. How are the seeds developing?

LOL. Happy & High medium (c) :laughtwo:

Well, the cop raid was only a two week temporaly mental regression.
Now we're again in mid way of new Gorilla glue autos in Hempys!
This round was supposed to be a rebuild, but well had to buy the new toys…:laughtwo:

Someone would call me stupido or careless. But gotta do what Verb likes to do :cheesygrinsmiley:

I actually could see a couple walking on top of the leaves. Thrips aren't microscopic like mites are, and they leave similar damage. Nebula Haze has a good collection of thrip pics so you can see them for scale (if I'm still allowed to link to her site).
Thanks for the link, Shed. I'll go review that again.
I also measured the post-stretch Jack Herer 1.1 for @BeezLuiz' spreadsheet:
I'm calling that 39.5"!
Very similar to your other JH. Not much stretch at all.

Wednesday update of the Sour G STS spraying/seedmaking process, per @Carmen Ray's request:
How are the seeds developing?
Let's roll up onto the sidewalk and take a look!

Here are the "seeds" on the plant that got sprayed (flip day 42):

You can see some seeded areas at the top and the large number of sacs still opening.

Please remind me not to do this again when I'll have anything else in flower (like the Jack Herer 1.1). STS alongside veg from now on! I might need to put a box with a light in the garage for this.

After the pics I sprayed the underside of the leaves with diatomaceous earth/water (because this plant will never be smoked) to see if I can stop spraying with anything at all from now on. We'll see!

Here is the first Sour G I flipped after the STS one, on flip day 34:

And the one I flipped a week after that, on flip day 27:

They're wet from 1% citric acid spray because I noticed a bit of PM on a few leaves.

I have no idea how to count days of seed development because I tried pollinating many days in a row, plus they were all together in the tent at that point anyway, so who knows when the pistils saw pollen. I guess I'll wait until they're dying of old age before I chop, just to be sure.

That's my news. The Candida that I upcanned a few weeks ago looks ready to flip, so I'll probably do that Saturday night when I get back with my son from college for the summer. :surf:

Thanks for all those encouraging words Carmen! Clockwork is definitely what it seems like, though I keep unsuccessfully trying to pair it back a bit. I'm hoping to have this whole operation slimmed down by winter so I can just have the tent plus mothers from November to March.

A Verb's gotta Verb! I'm glad to hear it was just a very minor setback. :thumb:

:thanks: BL! Good info for all those looking for a plant that won't double in size after flip.

That's Jack Herer from @Weed Seeds Express for anyone interested!

I think it already worked, and you're gonna have viable seeds out the wazoo! :)
Better get to the hospital, Shed! That might be painful if you have a little wazoo.

I call it appropriately heroic. Lol. F the cops. You know from my hide it in plain sight methodology I'm with you all the way.
