InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

Well, I guess we can start with the beginning. Or perhaps a new special Shed's Oil thread. We can get Amy and Sue to chime in also. Of course we can put some finishing touches when Sue comes to town.

I guess to begin with would be what type of materials are needed to make it.

There may be people who are incredibly sensitive to THC that absorb it through the skin (or are very suggestible), but from what I've read (sorry I don't have the links), the THC molecule is too large to pass through the layers of derma to get to the blood without a specialized carrier (not the oils we use). What THC does do (and this is why it works) is get to the nerve endings under the skin to short circuit the pain signals. This is one reason the spot at the top of the spine works so well (first mentioned in a Green Flower video I have somewhere). That spot contains unmyelinated nerve endings, so they are less protected than other spots in the body.

I don't think SS means straight to the brain in terms of euphoria, I think she is referring to the nerve pathways being close to the brain/spine interface there.

I hope that was a little bit helpful anyway!

Thanks - we think you’re right on the ‘suggestible ‘ thing...

That’s helpful - I might seek out the green flower material. I need to send her something that’s more than just me saying - “this guy and gal on the forum who I really trust know their stuff, assure everyone it’s not psychoactive through the skin”!

I found an article about its application in eczema and dermatitis which mentions it in passing, and that was a bit helpful. But I’ve struggled to find anything else about it - that was good enough to share with someone still a bit in fear of Cannabis. She had a bad time once many years ago and hasn’t touched it since. When I asked her about the bad time she described some hash she’d been given and how she smoked it all at once... it sounded like about a grams worth! Imagine - of hash, all in one hit. She’s well connected too, it would’ve been some potent stuff!

yup i clearly missed that ... i can already tell that the second one lookslike a freshly hatched mosquito of some sort not persay a bloodsucker
the last one i suspect it to be a sort of cicade nymf (wingless pre adult stage)
the first is a tricky one im afraid ill check your reference

brb ;)

Nuts! Like eating an entire pie and complaining that peaches give you stomach pains :)

Topical pain oil is so easy to make really. It sounds complicated but it's just oil infused with THC. Give me a minute and I'll pull the links and instructions together for you.

ok ... the last one is a leaf hopper nymph like this one:

well heres a prime example of a luxury problem ;) ... but yea
... artritis can be a bitch ... topical applications could mitigate that pain via anti inflammatory effects ;)

Well, there's only so many folks I can give it too, unless I start gifting through the mail. Though giving has it's own reward, paying it forward is always a wonderful thing to do.

Yes, Arthritis is a bitch and a half. Besides have the normal stuff, I have several joints that have been damaged to an extreme if not pretty well blown out from life's abuses. The anti inflammatory I can take isn't good in other ways, besides I'd rather not contribute to Big Pharma anymore than completely necessary.

That would be great, if you are sure, I don't want to hijack your grow journal thread to far off topic. Then again it appears, others are interested in the process and knowledge.

My recipe so simple it doesn't even qualify as a recipe! I'm currently using 50/50 grape/pumpkin seed oil. I might just go with grapeseed next time because I can get that anywhere. Pumpkin seed oil I got from Amazon. This stuff is very quickly absorbed, so if you like something more of a massage oil feel, go 75% grapeseed and 25% fractionated coconut oil (not regular) from Amazon.

Cannabis

That's it. I used Oldbear's spreadsheet to figure out how much cannabis to use based on the 2 cup minimum for the MB2e machine. I've decided the oil doesn't need to cover all the bud at the beginning because the machine eventually grinds it anyway. I aim for close to 15mg THC/ml oil. 8 hours at 160º.

If you don't have a Magical Butter machine, you can do the same thing with a jar in the oven at 160º F for 6-8 hours, shaking every 15-20 minutes if possible. You may have to break the buds up into very small pieces to get the oil to cover it, as it takes a lot of buds to make strong oil. You can also run the oil through twice with more bud to make it stronger. I recommend a MB2e machine, and they sent me a discount code for $25 off if you PM me.

I pour it into these roll on applicators for work or purse:

Vivaplex, 6, Cobalt Blue, 10 ml Glass Roll-on Bottles with Stainless Steel Roller Balls
At home I just have it in a bottle.

Easy!

If anyone needs full on instructions with pics and stuff my post is here about half-way down. Ignore the capsules of mash at the end, I threw those out.

Fantastic @Pterostychus ! Thanks so much. I live in a forest near a wetlands and we have so many insects here it’s incredible. I’ll call on you more in the future if that’s ok! (But maybe I’ll just come to your journal to do it - things can get busy for some folks round here)

Never seen a bug with a fiber optic tail. Cool!
Incredible huh!? Just so beautiful.

Actually that wasn’t the video Shed, it was the one with Eloise Theisen “Cannabis for Neurodegenerative Disease.” She discovered this working with a geriatric population.

the lipids we use to dissolve the cannabinoids are way bigger molecules if im not mistaken ... it does absorb into the skin and subdermis and will stay in the fatcells there to have a timed effect on the surrounding tissues untill it gets metabolised and even those metabolites are lipofile and stay there for a while ... so if you were to take a bath filled with topical oil i guarantee you will get high and beyond but just a sore rub wont get enough cannabinoids in the blood and to the brain to have a effect there

The reason you’ll get a mild buzz from an infused bath - and to be honest, that would take a lot more oil than any of us would be willing to dump in a tub of water - is because you have openings that the cannabinoids can access to get inside your skin. :battingeyelashes:
