InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

I was going to do a bigger update today, but I want to focus on the Sour G leaves. Yesterday I watered with just 6ml cal/mag+ (2-0-0) in a gallon of pH water. There had been the previous leaf issues you've seen, but this morning looked like this:

Those look like a Mag deficiency, yes? Which also looks a bit like excess P or K. One leave looked like this:

I pulled them all off so I can see how it progresses:

I know that multiple problems at the same time can be a pH issue, but I have been calibrating my meter. Unless it's completely screwed up.

Everyone comment, don't just "like"!
:thanks:

They are looking better, in my opinion.

I think you found at least part of the problem. :thumb:

Well, you know I am in the same boat and my slurry test said my soil was fine. 6.8. It's been over a month since I tested it so maybe I should again. All of my leaves that look like that are lower where little light is getting to them. I have the brown spots and all. When I look at them through the loupe, it looks like something has been sucking on the leaves but I can't find anything other than fungus gnats and to my knowledge, they don't do that. You just flushed didn't you?

Which is what? Magnesium deficiency? To much P and K? pH?
I think you have a K deficiency. It is the only one that matches the most.

I did flush, and yesterday was just cal/mag+. Runoff indicates the soil is pretty well cleaned out. I'm not big on pH testing my soil though. It's store-bought and pre pH'd by Dr Earth so I don't consider that a source of problems. Nutes can be a problem if they vary too far from the soil's ability to buffer.

I was thinking K excess, but you could be right. These symptoms start to blend together. The green leaf with the brown burn made me think excess.

Perhaps a couple extra coins at a new higher quality ph pen is in order for the both of us.
Lol ok ok post. If your meter keeps moving up and down and won't stabilize could be time for a new one.
I think I'll order a new one today so I'll have it by Friday.

Meter? I have a Hanna, Growline meter that does EC, TDS, PPM, PH, and temp. Not cheap. $160. But worth every penny. Easy to calibrate too. Can replace individual sensors if needed. Best money I've spent.
When I say I don't trust it is when I was mixing different nutes up and 1 container said it was low and 1 said it was high. Had veggie nutes that were high and flowering nutes that were really low using the same rain water. Got out my drops and it said the same thing. Just a quick second way to make sure the meter is on

Thanks, but too dear for me Derby. I'll probably be going from a $10 meter to a $15 meter!

Is it a design that needs to be "stabilized or hydrolized" or whatever it's called? I have a Bluelab and it has to be soaked in a storage solution every now and again (24 hours).

I know it tends to be accurate.

It better be at those prices! I've been keeping mine soaking in the 4.01 solution like it recommends, but every time I turn it back on it's not at 4.0. It was 3.7 this morning so I just added .3 to my number when I mixed nutes for the AK! Tired of turning the tiny screw every other day .

Yeah, I tend to buy pricey items that gave me problems in the past (20 years ago). PPM, pH or EC meters will get some money thrown at them. Liquid pumps and air pumps would also be pricey if I was in hydro.

Ph is an exponential scale..... not sure that works. 6 is 100 times more acidic than 7 and so on.

You did a flush. So could be the result of the plant eating itself but it seems to be a lot really fast.

Well...the flush was April 3rd so it's been a week now. Next water I'll go back to regular nutes (Grow Big, Cal/Mag, Armor Si) and take it from there. Not like I don't have three months to sort it out! It's just hard to see a plant look like that when you wake up.
