Inside The Mini-Tent, 150W LED, Going Coco For Tropicanna Bananna

OMG not the 30’s! Lollllling

I nursed an Englishman last year, he came out here to see his son for xmas on a background of COPD and our heat coupled with our humidity had him literally unable to breath. He couldn‘t believe we could function in such conditions. Funny thing, it wasn’t even hot by our standards.

My girlfriend is from Prague and we went to visit her family. It was 35c and I honestly thought I was going to trip over my nuts.
Scots and mild to extreme heat don't mix haha

I'm starting to wonder about when is the best time to defoliate the last of the stuff that's not going to make it.
Monday will be the beginning of week 4 so day 22. Is that a good time to chop the developing buds hidden under the net that won't be worthy to keep?

That's about when I do it... around 21-24 days post flip. I try to stay at less than 30 days in.

I've done defoliation later in flower, but I'll pick at it over a week or 2. Only taking one or 2 branches at a time.

Perfect, mate. Exactly what I needed to know!

Hope you're well, bud!

From what I have researched, you should wait until just after the stretch is finished. If you defol too early you run the risk of stressing Your girls and potentially limiting the stretch. Check out some of @Asesino85 journals, he goes pretty hard on the defol and his journals provide loads of good info about timing and strategy. I can’t remember which journal exactly, think it was one of his earlier ones, but he goes into a lot of detail about his approach, very informative. Roll a couple fatties first, lots of reading. This forum is an absolute goldmine of good grow info. Great all round community!!

I costs like a hundred quid for the postage and packaging. AngryBird gave me hers but I can't afford to actually get it to my house lol. Sweet Sue is currently holding on to it but I doubt I'll ever have enough spare cash to pay for it to be shipped.

I'm glad you were going to tell him about this one and not the previous two lol. That would have been awkward.

How are you and @burdok420 coping with the weather at the moment. It has been mental down in Devon. I've had to have all of my tent doors open and even then I couldn't get the temps below 29C. The plants seem ok for the moment and it looks like cooler weather is on the way but this has easily been the hottest my grow room has been this year.
Its killing me here Prof. Seedling suicides ( my forgetting to keep them moist !) Now got to emergency pop some more quick sharp.

It's a complex one, isn't it?
On the one hand I agree with the normalisation of cannabis, and I'd really love to do this for a living when it eventually becomes legal here, too. But on the other hand it's still producing a psychoactive plant, not totally unlike brewing beer, and maybe I'd like to keep the wee one ignorant to these things until she's a bit older.
If it was legal maybe I'd be less secretive with it, and if she did see it I'd just like explain it as producing some medicine. Which is what this is, despite what the laws here state. I have a 40cm squared tent. My tent has been chosen specifically for stealth and humble harvests as I will never be a dealer again. That was just too risky and definitely not something I'd risk being a father. That was for 21 year old me haha.

Can I ask why you keep your garden from your kiddies?

I don’t have kids, but if I did I wouldn’t show them my garden until they’re 14-15+. My concern with a 4 yr old would be that he goes to school talking about daddy’s medicine garden. I remember one case in the US, all it took for this woman to get investigated by LEO was her child saying, “ my mommy calls it cannabis.” to the wrong teacher.

I’m glad you’re thinking about defoliation, cause Anna is in dire need. If I were you I’d start now and go slow. 10-12 leaves a day, just the ones that are directly covering bud sights that would otherwise be looking directly at the light. That’s where I’m at with one of my Cookies n chem plants

Gotta get all the leaves covering the buds out of the way... regardless of how small or large they are.

That's exactly my thoughts regarding my daughter. She doesn't need to know so she won't!

Thank you for the defol tips!
What about the tiny little buds forming under the net? I really should have had them sorted earlier but I'm wondering if I should chop them off so she focuses on what's up top?

Just seen this!

Thank you bud, I'll check it out

I would wait til stretching stops to see what is still too far away. You’re going to have to make judgement calls on the bud sites under the net... whether you wanna defóliate in that area and take them through to harvest, or just get rid of them.

Thank you, Chef. I'll wait another week before I think about what's under the net. For now I'll do as you suggest and start clearing leaves for the buds

@ChefDGreen
One last question haha!
If I were to chop the smaller buds off next week, do they contain thc at this stage? Would I be able to extract it?

Probably yes, but it may not be all that enjoyable of an effect. That’s the kind of clipping I put into my topicals

Hmm, I'm wondering whether or not to leave them be and turn them into hash or dabs come harvest time

Probably a better option if smokeables are the only thing you’re interested in

This round I'm aiming for smokables mostly. But we'll be making some edibles, too

Just a lil update!

It's now day 20 since the flip and she is growing like a beast, as per usual. I'm thinking I'm going to have to raise the light over the next day or two but I'm really wanting to keep it as low as possible for as long as possible. The fan blows right between the top of the canopy and the light and I've held my hand there and it didn't feel hot at all so I'm confident she can take it. I'll move it up if I start to see any signs of stress.

Other than that the only difference is I've started clearing the leaves from under the net and a few fan leaves up top that were blocking bud sites (thanks @ChefDGreen)

There is still some work needing done with her but I'll get to it over the next few days.

Oh, and she stinks now. She is a pungent girl. I'm going to have to buy something to remove the smell from the cupboard that is released from the tent when the door is open!

Not much else to say, she is just too easy.

Hope you are all well! :ganjamon:

Ohhh yeah, very nice. Definitely some Defol that’s still needed but I think you went with just enough restraint.

how much more stretch are you anticipating? She may need more tucking cause she’s looking pretty tall.. unless she’s about done.

The stank will keep getting more intense.

I certainly hope so! I'm wanting some proper shtank shmoke!

Cheers, Chef!

I'm expecting roughly another 9 - 10 inches of stretch before she settles. I've got plenty of space for her to go a bit more if need be. But I have thought of the possibility of her needing tamed further but I've got my fingers and toes crossed that I've timed it right. All the research that I've done via different grow journals show roughly the same stretch in the sameish time so I'm thinking that unless mine is a completely different genetically I'm safe
