Inside The Mini-Tent, 150W LED, Going Coco For Tropicanna Bananna

Hey burdock. The TB's looking great. I think mine finished stretching around day 25 from flip. I trimmed the hell out of it on flowering day 17 and then again around day 30 as it bushed right back up. She's solid and forgiving so you shouldn't have any problems with defoliating her. I found that super-cropping early on was futile as she reached straight back up even with heavy damage done to the bend. After she finished stretching I super-cropped again and the branches stayed down though the tips bent back up. I love this plant as it just grows. You try and stop it lol. (don't actually try otherwise I'll look stupid)

She hasn't got the largest flowers out of the 4 I'm currently flowering but she does have the most and they are pretty frosty as well....

I'm glad someone else noticed that, too!
I accidentally supercropped a branch when tucking under my net and I swear I heard her laugh at me...

Also coming in my update (coming tomorrow during the day. Sorry but life and work have been in the way) it can be seen that I cleared some under the net a couple nights ago but that hasn't slowed her down.

I'm very excited to show you all how she looks and what I've done to get her to where she is now over the past couple of days. I think I may have timed it perfectly...

I look forward to seeing your hard work.

I've been off too. The missus went back to work so I've had to become super dad and then we lost the internet for a week lol.

Totally understandable, Prof. Some things in life come first!

I'd love to be able to keep a great journal and get myself on of them fancy "Journal of the Month" titles, but I don't think the majority of the prizes can be shipped to the UK anyway so I'm not too bothered... Although the title next to my name would be nice haha

You're not off to a bad start. You have a nice plant that could be entered into POTM which will lead to nugs that could be entered into NOTM. There's some nice pics on here which could be entered into PhOTM as well. I never expected to win any competitions when I joined but then one day I received a message which said I'd won "Grow Journal of the Month"!
It was a mix of emotions lol. Part of me felt incredibly honoured but the other side was like "What!? There must be some better journals than this tripe" lol. Just be yourself and don't give up and I'm sure you'll get some recognition. In regards to prizes, I should have 3 butter machines by now but hey. I don't care, I'm here for the educational lol's and some good community spirit.

Yeah I'm basically here for the community and actually be able to speak to someone about my grow. Nobody aside from myself and my girlfriend know about the Mini-Tent, not even my 4 year old has been allowed to lay eyes upon it. The last thing I need is for her to go back to her mum and tell her about "daddy's flowers in the cupboard" haha.

Those magic butter machines look amazing. I was gutted to read they don't ship outside the US!

I agree with this so much, I have 2 kids that know nothing about the garden. Even though it’s legal here.

It's a complex one, isn't it?
On the one hand I agree with the normalisation of cannabis, and I'd really love to do this for a living when it eventually becomes legal here, too. But on the other hand it's still producing a psychoactive plant, not totally unlike brewing beer, and maybe I'd like to keep the wee one ignorant to these things until she's a bit older.
If it was legal maybe I'd be less secretive with it, and if she did see it I'd just like explain it as producing some medicine. Which is what this is, despite what the laws here state. I have a 40cm squared tent. My tent has been chosen specifically for stealth and humble harvests as I will never be a dealer again. That was just too risky and definitely not something I'd risk being a father. That was for 21 year old me haha.

Can I ask why you keep your garden from your kiddies?

Just personal preference really, it wasn’t long ago it was still illegal. They’re impressionable still at the age they’re at. I’d rather them grow up and make the decision for themselves. I built my rooms in the basement since they don’t go downstairs. They have no reason to it’s an unfinished basement. It’s not so much I “hide” it. They just don’t know it exists. Kinda a “don’t ask, don’t tell” scenario.

I see what you mean. I suppose stopping the kids seeing the grow mitigates the stoner influence at a young age. My daughter doesn't see me smoke, either.
I'm actually desperate to quit cigarettes for that exact reason, I don't want her to see it and emulate it later in life.
If my daughter, at an appropriate age, tells me that she smokes weed I'll be 100% okay with it. I suppose I'm like you and would rather let her come to that decision in her own way and by her own reasoning

Couldn’t agree more, that make you a great father. I will not condone it, but I don’t want to influence it either. I also need to quit smoking cigarettes but I don’t feel like I’m ready to yet. Someday hopefully sooner than later.

Ciggies are bastards! Tasty little murderous buggers. I hate to love them

Your up late, Isn’t it like 2?

It is indeed! And I've just finished work. Almost finished my 2 mile walk home to give my plant her second feed and a bed time dooby!

INCOMING UPDATE

I'll be going over what's been happening over the past couple days, as best as I can. So skin one up or pack one and catch up with Anna and I!

This was a big day in the Mini-Tent for both the plant and me. She got poked and shimmied and snipped, and my skills as a grower were tested.

This is what was removed from below the canopy. This most definitely hurt me more than it did her, as she has shown no signs of slowing.

Here is the difference below the net:

And after the snip:

She's going to need another trim at some point soon to help her focus on her tops.

Which brings me to my next task that day. I needed to rethink how I'm going to get an even, uniform canopy in the havoc that's been tucked below the net. My real concern was that when I leave her alone and let her grow up the branches will find some way of straightening and make my efforts wasted. My second concern was that tucking in such a small space under a net leaves very little room for real control over what goes where. I didn't want branches getting too think to be manipulated into a different space when the buds are forming.

My solution is to lift the net off of the plant and then untwist and organise the branches.

She sprung up when I lifted the net. She is really a beast, if I left her alone she wouldn't fit in my tent, guaranteed.

The next step was to bring the net down again but this time guide the branches through the squares in the net. I wanted to get the best spacing between the buds as possible. I then began the long, long process of bending the branches down to where I want them and securing them to the net with soft garden wire.

Starting the job:

After about 45 minutes:

And finally, after about an hour and a half:

Sorry about the mixture of picture sizes. Resizing takes ages.

All in all I'm pleased about the work I did this day. I managed to get a nice even spread and get a good few inches of growth contained above the net along with the growth contained below.

She was fed 800ml of megacrop at 1.9g per 1200ml and 1.2ml of calmag at 5.8ph and then the last 400ml 6 hours later. This is the feeding that she is now receiving with no difference except a drift in pH.

This day was round 2 with the garden wire. Here's why:

She just sprung up with a false sense of freedom. Not yet, my dear.

You shall be free soon...

24/06/2020

This brings me to today. Now. Ahora.
She has been left to do her thing since her second round of bondage.

Here she is, in all her glory:

The photos aren't the greatest because I didn't want to bother her when she's sleeping for long so it was a quick snap shot as I wont have time to today when the lights are on.

Look at those buds!

That's all for now, really. If I've done my research well enough I'm expecting another 10 or 11 inches of stretch before she settles and I've measured that I have plenty of space for that. So all in all I'll call that a success!!

Thanks for stopping by, guys!
Another update coming soon

Talk about maximizing the footprint eh @burdok420, good job. I think I may try a screen on my next run, seems fun.

Haha, that was my plan, bud! I hope I've pushed the yield as far as I can. Really excited to watch her grow without stressing now!

Do it! Fill your room as 1 massive scrog and harvest kilos per plant!!

Lol, I think I might. Although the Tropicanna Banana I got is filling out nicely already. I think I got around 30-35 growth tips in the 2x2 footprint it covers.

Looking great Burdock.
I'd say you have it all well under control, hands on is the best way to learn,
You should see the biggest stretch over the next week or so.

I'm impressed buddy, keep doing what you are doing and as long as you keep good airflow you're on to a winner.
I've a feeling you're gonna get a very impressive yield for such a small space :goodjob:

That's impressive, very well done. I need to pop along and have a peep!

Thank you very much! And I've got my fingers crossed for some tasty flowers filling my jars. I've just got to finish without any mistakes now haha.

Thanks for popping in, bud
