In The Lab

What ranges are best for tea leaving time?
I plan to water tomorrow and have the jug full of RO water, should i tea it now and water in 18 hours or tea tomorrow? What's best? 18 hours? 10 min? 2 hours? Why?

5 minutes in warm water will do just fine. More time than that won't help much, less time won't hurt much.

I add the Tea, fill the bucket (siphons from the water tank so it takes a couple minutes to fill, then put in the drench....pour it back and forth between two buckets to thoroughly mix and aerate....and then water plants.

Good afternoon gentleman. Can anyone please tell me the measurements and ingredients for a Rescue Drench? I have a Malawi in second runs soil who had what I believed was burning from putting her under the lights too soon after a foliar, and then it accelerated and I realized that's not what I'm dealing with.

This really ramped up in the past few days. She's suffering guys... : ( Neiko suggested flushing her thoroughly to get rid of the root zone distress that's obvious to us now. I just can't find my notes on the drench.

I don't want to find out that my soil has a problem again. That may be the last straw for me. None of the other plants sitting in second run soil are showing this problem, so I'm a bit stumped. They look fabulous, a true testimony to the magic the kit offers with sativas.

This was a clone from Neiko, from Doc's soil and raised exclusively with the kit. Anybody have any insight into what may have caused this? All three of the plants are in the same run soil at about the same age. This is my only problem child. Her clone, growing in a hempy with RX Green Solutions isn't showing any signs of this distress either.

Seems to be going around ?

I wonder if the PRO-MIX has changed something in there product ?

I think your way is the "best" way for personal gardening. Mass production of clones=aero cloner. I'm sort of in-between, so I use the rapid rooters.....but am looking for another substrate.

Have you considered perlite? I soak mine in a dilution of aloe gel before I stick them in, but give them three weeks and they're all ready to go. I'm sure you could find a way to make it work under your conditions. There's a thread up on how rediculously easy it is to clone successfully. Most of them stick the cutting into the soil like OttawaGreen or into simple cups of water. The success rate is amazing. I'm running 100% using the produce bag method Lembatoast taught me.

Explain please Gazoo. I don't get to these pages often. Those med threads take a lot of time and I'm running around 20 plants at the moment. Is this a rampant problem with our soils?

Not sure if its rampant but its certainly being seen more than I recall in the past, have not been around a long time
but seems a recently its happening more.

Sue, you have a massive case of photoperiod stress, that's why the single bladed leaves, etc.

This one needs to be culled. Sorry.

Mine root in 5 days, which is why I'm still using "rapid" rooters. But I don't like the moss that grows from time to time.

No, it's not a "rampant" problem at all. The trouble seems to be that for some reason a lot of people are using felt pots and a lot of people are also not following directions on drench schedules, etc.

And no, Promix has not changed. We run upwards of 60 plants at a time, was even more a few months ago. We don't see these issues with the plastic pots and we from strong roots before transplanting.

Doc , a few of mine, No photoperiod stress. The purple one also had those weird one/two bladed leaves. I must say that there are more than a few of us with crops toasting. All have the same look , but are in different runs, pots , strains etc. All have one thing in common,...using the new formulas in the 'kit'. Your thoughts .

I tested the new formulas extensively for months and had no problems. No problems reported in the field. Nothing but good reports.

I'm watching very carefully and as far as I can tell it comes about with too many runs on the soil and/or fabric pots. There might be another cause that escapes me, but the new formulas aren't new anymore. I've been shipping them since April, 2017 and have not had a complaint.....till very recently.

Again, my garden is running perfectly and I'm using nothing but the new stuff.

I'm not the only grower with this problem Doc. All five I know of right now - the numbers keep climbing - have the same problem occurring at the same time, around three weeks into flowering, and immediately following the first CAT. Duggan, me, Kazoo, BrixNewb, and TheRedDragon all report the same crisping of the leaves you're looking at.

So I don't buy that it's a photoperiod stress. WTH is that anyway?

TheRedDragon assures me that the problem didn't hinder either yield or potency, but his plants crisped up just the same way.

I looked over my records more closely and discovered the difference in my girls. The Malawi was the only one to get the CAT from a new bottle, purchased in March or April of this year. I don't know if that's the answer, but I can tell you I'm reluctant to try using it again, and I have two bottles of it.

Any suggestions Doc?

Second run soil is not too many runs.

I grew about 20 plants outside this year, 3 still going,- few in plastic pots above ground, some in ground no pots- I've experienced plant stress from every angle but no crisp leaves due to drenches. In fact IMO they look(ed) really good for what I've been doing and pushing them.

My theory is that fabric pots lose a lot of root surface square area due to air pruning- especially in smaller fabric pots.
