Icemud's Organic SCROG! Grow 3.0

nice job on the LST you're getting some nice colas developing

Hey Icemud, when you run out of liquid seaweed, try out Maxicrop powdered seaweed. I think you will like it. I have used it since the 80's. Quite a bit cheaper, dissolves rapidly, less for shipping....

I found them on Amazon when I was looking up the CO2 bags, there wasn't a ton of ratings, but there were a few, mostly positive, so I decided to grab 1 pack to see. I don't have a ppm meter to really tell how much they are releasing, so I will just have to see by plant response.

I think they were around 30$ for the pack. I've heard that the co2 bags are pretty nice too, but never tried either :) Lets hope they work like there supposed to :) I almost want to put one in now, but I read somewhere that once the plant's get used to the higher concentration then they need it consistent. I guess we will all see together how they perform when I add them into the tent :) :morenutes:

thanks for the info :thanks:

nice lst just like a scrog without the net

Exactly!! :) My goal is to get them as bushed out as possible before I drop in the V-Scrog

Thanks Organic TRees!! I'm working these ladies good, just about every other day tying them down again, or in more places..these are some dirty girls with there love of bondage and all...lol :peace:

Nicce ladys ice! :) keep it up bro

Thanks Mr MudP!!! I will get over to your journal tonight to catch up :) Should really start taking off from this point on :)

Thanks OG!!! I have heard a ton of good things about Maxicrop, the good news is that this cold pressed seaweed only requires about 2-3 ml per gallon so its lasted me for quite a while :) I do want to pick up some neptune's hydrolyzed fish though...nice ratio's and lots of zymes :) when I run out I will check out maxicrop...appreciate the suggestion bro!

Day 19 veg, April 11th.

Not much to report on today...I tied the ladies down with a little more LST today. Picked up one of the pots and the ladies definitely are sucking down water much faster at this point and should be ready within the next 2-4 day's for another watering so tomorrow I will be preparing another tea for the girls. I've been using Nylon's that were donated to me by girls I know, but ran out so gotta hit up the store and buy some, unless anyone else has any suggestion's of what I can use. I was thinking a long sock, but it may be a little to thick to really get things brewing... Most likely will hit up the dollar store for some cheap nylons... Other than that, things have been going great and they seem to be growing extremely fast at this time...

Here are today's photo's..

Paint strainers from home depot or lowes. Two come in a bag for around $3-5 and the mesh is perfect. Tight enough to hold in EWC or compost, but porous enough for beneficial's.

Your plants are looking super Luscious :goodjob:

Great idea about the paint strainers.... going to have to grab some at HD today....!! Thanks for the compliment's buddy!!!

Well I'm trying something new today to go along with the High Brix growing. Ive been reading about the product/process called sonic bloom which is taking certain frequencies of "chirps" around the 4-5 khz range and incorporating them into my grow. The concept say's that with this range of sound (birdchirps range right between 3.5 Khz and 5 Khz) and playing it about 1/2 hour before foliar feedings, during and about 1/2 an hour after is said by there claims to increase stomata size and increase foliar feeding efficiency by 400%. I downloaded some different recordings of bird sounds.... (morning, mid day, and evening birds) and have been playing the sounds according to the "time of day" that the plants are in, mostly as the light's come on (foliar feeding) and as the lights are going off, foliar feeding... This method supposedly had had a lot of positive feedback so I will see if it works.... I guess it can't hurt :)

Since my grow is small, I an not able to run a control group to see if there is any effect of the sounds with foliars vs no sounds and foliars. I guess we will see in the end product :) I also read that the sonic bloom audio is supposed to be played around 115db, which is very loud. My mixing studio rarely even got that loud so I will be playing them at a much lower decibel level that the product recommends, however, their product is for commercial agriculture, so for my small setup I am hoping that the lower db will still work :)

i really liked that bird chirping idea...as i'm sitting here typing this i stopped and noticed that i can hear the birds outside...so i guess i can forgo the sound-FX and have real bird noise:thumb:

Yeah I wish I had more birds where I live, but there's just not for some reason... not many trees and vegetation so that's probably why... the concept seems to make sense since everything in nature seems to work with each other, so I definitely can see that there might be some value to the bird chirps... I wonder what eats fungus gnats...I wish I could find out what does, and add in some audio samples of its predator... kind of like the ultrasonic mosquito repellant devices...that simulate dragonfly's wings, and keep mosquito away.... Wonder if that would work...??

Day 20 Veg!!

I shot some photo's today of the girls so I figured I would share. Today is day 20 of Veg, almost the end of week 3 from clone and there really starting to take off now. I would estimate if measured the main stem, they would be sitting around 14-16" as of now, but since I have been doing LST since the first week they have become so bushy with tons of tops already. I picked up some of the pots today and they still feel like they can go another few day's without water so I am going to hold off on brewing my tea until tomorrow, thinking 48 hrs of bubbling would take it to feeding in 3 days.. which seems about right. The girls really look healthy, tons of light green new growth and the stems look really neon/lime green colored and really healthy :) I can't wait to see what happens once bloom comes with the High Brix Soil Focus and the GLR!!

Also, I found out that I had gooped up the backside of my cool tube last cycle with a yellow sticky card, and it seems that the fungus gnats must have loved to hide here....and so there is a ton of dead ones from last grow... :) I definitely smiled and might even try doing it to the other side as well, to catch any that decide to land there... I don't have a lot, and have already given my soil 2 doses of mosquito dunks with each of the last feedings (broken up in my hands into the teas) So I only notice occasionally 1 or 2 flying around and I try to kill them when I see them...(fast lil mofo's!! ahaha) So anyways, I snapped a photo for all the fungus gnat haters out there like me to smile at :)

And here is a photo of the girls as of today :)

I have been giving them a foliar spray every morning as the lights come on as well as trying to remember *if I'm awake at 3am, to give them a spray as the light's go off.... Right now I have 2 sprays going... One is more mineral/enzyme/sugar based and the other is just for feeding the microbes...

One first foliar mix is this is fuel for my microbe supercharger This one gets sprayed in
RO water
Calcium Carbonate (very little amount powdered)
Advanced Nutrients Liquidcarboload: (Arabinose, Dextrose, Glucose,Maltose,Xylose)
A half Tbsp of soft rock phosphate
molssess
fulvic acid

My 2nd foliar mix is my additive one
this one contains: (all added at very low amounts 1-3ml per 1/2 l)
RO water
cold pressed seaweed (micronutrients, trace elements, PGR's, other goodies)
very small amount of EJ microblast *micronutritent sulfates
general organic cal mag 5:1
molasses
fulvic acid

My 3rd foliar is fed all the time (whenever its made) :)
RO water
Compost/soilmix tea
molasses
humic acid

I also as mentioned in the above post started to experiment with adding higher frequency bird chirps (4-5 Khz) in the morning, and evening, about 30 minutes before, during and after the light come on, as well as before/during/after the lights go out. (at the times I foliar spray). This method is used by a product/process called sonic bloom and seems to have some good reasoning behind it and science so I decided to give it a try...I'm already simulating nature indoors, so why not add to it with bird chirps...make it more like the real thing. I was able to find some really good audio samples of some morning, mid day and evening birdchirps so I have been playing them in correlation to the time of day I foliar feed the plants. I don't have a test group and control group to actually see if it makes a difference, but its peaceful anyways so I don't mind it too much :) Supposedly the claim's of sonic bloom are that this sonic chirping frequency increases the stomata size and that plants are able to increase there nutrient uptake by like 400% because of the addition of the sprays with the audio chirps... Who knows if it actually works, but seems it can't hurt :)

Here are the photo's of the ladies today,

Another High Brix journal, wootwoot!!!:thumb: But your babies are really starting to take off, just like mine did after mineralizing and using teas/foliar. But sorry im late and am front and center now. :welldone: :Namaste:

YeP, I am facinated by the High Brix method, and so far my plants look healthier than I ever have had them :) I can't seem to read enough about High Brix, I'm really into this water/vortex idea too, I just have to figure out how to make a DIY one and see if it works... Thanks very much for the good vibes Mikey!!:peace::high-five:

You are welcome! And what water vortex are you talking about? Im not familiar. And I feel ya on reading up on high brix. Thats literally all I do all day, is research on organics and high brix. :Namaste:

Day 21, last day of week 3 veg.... april 13...

The ladies were ready for a feeding and I have had a compost tea brewing for a little over 24 hours so I gave the girls a feeding today :) Before I fed the girls I placed some wood blocks under the pots to raise them up out of the drip trays. This will allow more airflow to the roots as well as let the soil drain better so hopefully it will work :)

I also decided that since the ladies were taking off so well, I would add one of the CO2 GreenPad's that I bought to help raise the co2 content in the air. It say's that 1 should be fine for my sized tent and they are good for about 2-3 weeks, and I guess you are supposed to add a new one every week. I think since my tent is smaller, and I also have the fermentation CO2 going I am going to add 1 sheet every 2 week's until I hit flowering, and then I will add a new sheet every week :)

Here are the photo's for today, after I fed the girls :)

It's a concept that re-energizes the water and allows it to become highly oxygenated as well as re-structure's the molecules in water to help increase bio-activity...as the theory and study's seem to show. Since I am using RO water, derived from city water, my water "aliveness" is pretty much not there, and bubbling can only do so much as far as re-energising the water. So the concept of the double helix water is creating a vortex that flows thru a magnetic field, that actually re-structures the way that the water molecules are, and adds 10x the energy to water that just aeration would provide. I am still reading up on this, but sounds pretty interesting. I am thinking of somehow making them out of the 5 gallon water jugs, so that I can energize my RO water before drinking it, or even using it for my compost teas... I believe the method is known as water implosion, double helix water and also AACT (in compost teas)

Here are a few links that introduce the water energy properties...

Day 22 Veg, april 14th...

I am amazed by how healthy the girls look today after yesterday's compost tea feeding, and foliar compost tea spray :) amazing! plus the addition of the CO2 sheet and it seems that they have really kicked into overdrive lately :) I am amazed by how blue/green/and shiny the older growth is, and how lime green and fresh the new growth is, its unreal!!!

I shot some photo's of the girls with the regular point and shoot camera I have, and decided to try my cameraphone as well since it is about double the amount of megapixles. The regular camera photo's will have the date in the corner, the cameraphone wont. It seems the cameraphone actually picked up the shots much better, the colors are more true to life, and the resolution is very clear :)
