Anyone have any ideas on easy ways to clean smartpots. I have been scrubbing them in a bucket over and over again, but some of the built up salt is really hard to get off the pots. Anyone have any easy ways to clean fabric pots I would say overall this is the only drawback of the fabric pots over plastic, there much more difficult to clean
How do I clean my Smart Pot?
After use dump out the soil and let the bag dry. After a few days of being dry, the dust and small roots will easily brush off. For most people, this is good enough. At this point the Smart Pot folds easily for storage. However, a lot of our customers will wash the bags in OxyClean or peroxide to sterilize. They use a washing machine or dip the bag in a tub. Do not put the Bags in a dryer.
Taken off the smartpot website
It took me quite a while today to get those smart pot's clean but now they are just about brand new again and ready to be filled I measured out how much soil I am going to need to transplant and it seems that I will need about 3/4 of a plastic pot more soil, per #4 smartpot. So that will equal about 4 1/2 plastic pots of new soil mixed up. Since I have been also using this soil to make my compost tea's I will mix 1 extra pot's worth of soil so I can easily just drop it into a nylon and make teas So here will be my mixture...
6 pots of soil... :
I still have 1 1/2 pots of my premixed soil from clone stage so I will be using that....same mixture as page 1 of my journal...
remaining I will have to mix up 4 1/2 pots of soil:
1 1/2 pots FFOF
1 Pot Happy frog
1/2 pot perlite
1/2 pot worm casings
1/2 pot forest humus
For the remaining 1/2 pot I will be using :
2.2 cups of CalciumCarbonate
2 cups of soft rock phosphate
1.3 cups of gypsum
1 cup myco maximum
1 cup greensand
1 cup lava sand
1 cup indonesian bat guano .5-12-.2
This should get me just about the right ratio's of calcium and phosphorus and a highly mineralized soil.
Tomorrow I will be mixing up this soil and getting the plant's ready by untying all of the LST to let them stretch upward. I should be transplanting either thursday or friday depending on how fast the current soil dry's out.
That sounds amazing!
