Icemud's LED Grow With Advanced LED XTE 300 Series With EX-Veg 200

Congrats on your harvest IceAnd I too had the same issue going on in my Bloom tent under LEDs. After upping the Cal/Mag dosage as prescribed by Judge John in Denisse's journal all new growth is healthy after only 2 feedings. What's your ratio of epsom salt you used for the foliage spray?

Yeah it seems that once I give them a dose of Cal/Mag then they look better about a week later. I have been feeding them general organics cal/mag in their soil feedings every other feeding and in the foliar sprays it varies..I don't usually measure the amount but if I were to estimate, maybe a spoonful to a gallon of water for my foliar feeding.

I too share a similar dream of some day have a nice sized property, enough to have a large workshop, garden for veggies and food and for herbs :) and a huge pond to relax at and throw in a line to catch dinner :) Anyhow, I really appreciate you sharing your insight with me and it helps me to realize my dreams aren't that far, and really its just putting together my interests into a revenue generating machine :)

Right on, line in the water is a beautiful thing - Cottage 420 - my shangri-la right there - island in a big lake # 420 in bass heaven and I kid you not. Lets go ... ahem... cross country skiing ! haha fishing next summer. Ah well.

LED yes in it's infancy for sure, you will see. I don't think we've really seen anywhere near the potential. What I've done with LED technology is use them for a constant current sink to drive an amplifier or driver tube (glass tube from the 20's-60's) in audio. The usual technique is to use a resistor or silicon chip or combo of those to draw current thru the amplifier device. The LED has proven to be the most reliable and the most linear of any device as a current sink which does wonders for audio sound quality and distortion. I did not invent that circuit I just use it and experiment with it and am talking about it to point out that what little I know from practical use is it's definitely in its infancy. The time is now.

Wow...now that is really cool! I actually worked with a platinum engineer a while back that also built his own gear, he recreated a old tube driven microphone which blew the dynamics and warmth out of 10,000$ microphones... I always was in awe of the ability to understand circuits and resisters and such. I know that this is the next chapter of learning that I need to do in order to keep fulfilling my curious mind, and the knowledge will allow me to tinker with designing LED grow lights as well. I definitely think this Needs to be my next educational chapter :) electronics, circuits and technologies :) I think we are going to see a rapid exponential growth in application, technology and efficiency very quickly with LED technologies :) and it makes me excited :)

How do you compare the xte to the other led you used?

Well I haven't finished the grow so I can't comment on harvest related details yet...but here are my observations so far...

I love that they run about 10-15 degrees cooler than previous panels (case temp)

I love how the cooling fans blow a lot of air, but remain whisper quiet...

I love the fact they use premium brand chips by Cree and Osram which have much longer expected life than other chips such as bridgelux, epistar and epiled.

Customer service and my interactions with the company have been very informational, and caring (I am sponsored though so this may not reflect actual customer experience)

The lights produce much higher PAR measurements than previous LED's used at different heights directly under the panel.

I love how spectrum can be dimmed, and manipulated through 2 different dimmer/dials allowing for many spectrum outputs. (I can run all red, all blue and white, or a combo)

My plants seem to be very happy with the lights, and the leaf posture, lower plant growth both seem to be equal if not better than previous grows...*this is opinon though and a actual side by side would be a much better comparison of plant growth..but overall the plants do seem to be much happier.

In comparison to other grows, same strain the lights seem to be producing slightly denser buds and a slightly larger size at this point of the grow vs previous grows, but again this is only visual observation based on past photo comparisons and memory, so take that with a grain of salt :)

So as of now, these are the observations that I have noticed regarding the Advanced LED vs others I have used... but I will be able to give a more accurate comparison after the grow is complete.

Happy Danksgiving Everyone!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful day with good family, friends, food and fun!

Happy Thanksgiving to you Icemud.

Just catching up Ice, the plants look awesome.:goodjob: Hopefully the job hunt is coming along well. Like so many of you guys, I know all about whoring myself out to some sub par employer for a paycheck. Good luck man.

I just started the thread in my sig, would you (or anyone else) mind chiming in if you get a chance? I think my Mars II 900 might be a little much for my setup, but I was hoping for some input from some of the local experts.

Have a great Black Friday everybody, be sure to stay away from crazy consumers. :peace:

Happy Thanksgiving:)....just read your last post....after i sent the pm....by the way...pm sent:)lol

Happy Thanksgiving weekend Green Dreamz!!!!

Hey Everyone!!!

So I want to say a few things...

I am thankful for....

My friends...
My family...
My 420 family...
Life...
Unlimited opportunities...
Cannabis...
Health...
sunshine...
LED grow lights...ahhahhaha :)

Actually there are so many things that I am thankful for, I could go for days and days... I hope all of you had a wonderful thanksgiving!

So today makes day 37 of flowering and things are looking spectacular in my tent....

The ladies are getting fatter and fatter by the day, and seems that trichomes are just coating everything now :) The smell is amazing when I open the tent and definitely seems much more noticable than past grows...might be the strains, or the lights or just overall happy plants but they stink in a lovely way !

So this week I gave them a compost tea for 2 days before it spoiled and then gave them a dose of dogget simpson synthetics for 2 days. Today I mixed up some hydrolyzed squid (worst smelling stuff on earth), some 0-10-0 10% Ca from humboldt, and fed the girls. They will get this mix for 2 days before it spoils and then I will give them another compost tea feeding.

I haven't done any foliar feeding for the past week because the humidity again is down in the 10% range and its not good to spray plants when the humidity is that low (from what I have read).

Well not much else to report on today, the plants are doing amazing!

Wow those girls are frosty....and still have plenty of time to stack more.....very very nice Ice:):high-five:

Yeah they are looking quite delicious :) I don't think my GSC has ever looked this good. I went back to previous grows at this time period and the buds definitely are really fat for this time in the grow :) can't wait to see what the harvest brings :)

man they look frosty:woohoo: those ladies are packing weight :morenutes:

Job well done

Thanks Danishoes! I definitely am excited about this grow! All the plants are looking beyond amazing me and daily impressing me :)

Update time :)

The VEG Tent:

Well the time has come, to choose my next 6 plants that will be going on to flowering next grow, and which will go in my 3rd tent to mother for the time being. It took a lot of thought on which ones to choose since I have so many amazing strains but here is what I came up with.

University Hills OG= Unknown OG x Free Tibet (Nepalese Hash Plant x Afghani Hawaiian) x Professional 3-Way [(Unknown DJ short x Unknown Sensi Seeds) x Northern Lights #5 male)]:
I've had this strain for quite a while, and I guess I have a bond with it, since it was one of 6 strains I ran on my very first grow. I did a lot of research to track down the genetics of this strain, and I can't guarantee they are accurate, but its the best I found online after piecing together a bunch of different sources.

I am running it again for a few reasons...first off I haven't run it in at least 3 cycles, so I wanted to throw it back into the mix. Also, I am debating if I am going to keep the strain around, or get rid of it for a different OG. I really am sad I lost my cut of SFV OG, but I'm sure I can get another one or maybe even a different one, so this upcomming grow will determine whether or not the University Hills OG stays in my collection. Because of its rarity, and the crosses within it, I really would like to at least make feminized seeds of her for future use, but we will see. I also ran it in my very first LED grow, so I want to compare the results.

Blue Dream I love blue dream, its the perfect smoke for having things to do, whether its just work or projects. Blue dream definitely has one of my favorite smells and flavors I have ever come across, and also is a great yeilder which both are pluses in my book. I had to run the blue dream again because I love the strain and love to have it around. I also am a blue dream whore..haha and I have tried tons and tons of different samples of blue dream over the past few years, so I want to rate my growing ability vs what I have tried :) this will give me a good gauge on how I am doing :)

Grandaddy Purple: Another one of my favorite strains, and the taste is unique to itself. I have never tasted anything or smelled anything like Grandaddy Purple. Its kind of like blue dream where it just has its own qualities you don't find in other strains. Anyhow, grandaddy purple is another one of my favorites and I am so happy to have it in my garden. So I wanted to run it again to see how it does. :)

Mystery Kush: This is a cut that was mislabled when I recieved it, so I have no idea what it is. All I know it is some kind of kush, but really I have no idea what is in it, and the place I got it from was so incompetant, I couldn't even trust them trying to tell me. So I just named it mystery kush. It definitely seems to have some bubba kush traits, but also has some traits that resemble master kush, and some traits that resemble bubba kush.. so really who knows? Anyhow I don't really like having strains that I don't know the genetics, so I decided to run it 1 last time for a few reasons.... to see if its worth keeping, even though it has no known origin... and also to see if the quality compares to past LED grows that I ran this strain. I don't think I am going to keep this strain past this grow, but I will take cuttings of it before flowering just in case.

Purple Urkle:Another one of my favorite purples, and also the half parent of Grandaddy Purple. This is such an amazing strain an just always has a fresh, sweet, grape taste to it and really packs a punch. I haven't completed a cycle with it yet, but already what I am seeing is making me really happy, so I decided to run it again.

-------------

So That is going to be the next 6 plants you will all get to see go to flowering... If anyone would like me to swap one out for one of my other strains... let me know..and why.. and I may consider it :)

My goal is to narrow down the amount of strains I have on hand which right now is 10. I would like to keep a solid 5-6 of them so I can change up a few things about the way I grow and also get a few projects done that I have wanted to. I have wanted to get a feminized seed project started so having less strains will allow me room to do that in my 3rd tent. I also have wanted to possibly reduce the amount of plants I flower instead of 6 to maybe 2 or 3, with much larger pots... I am curious if by reducing the amount of plants I can get a higher gram per watt/yield because more light will be able to hit the plants, and they can spread out more in the roots and soil. I think right now by me doing 6 at a time really is hampering the capabilitys that I can have going on so hopefully by narrowing down the amount of plants/strains, I can then focus on just a few very large plants :)

As far as the all blue Advanced LED EX-VEG lights, I couldn't be happier... with the growth rate they are producing, I have already had to chop my plants in half about 3x just so they don't overgrow the area. I have to wait until my other tent is done flowering to use the space so I gave all 6 of the plants a very very good trimming... It wont hurt the plants, as I have done this before, but what it will do is really get them to branch out and lots of tops to form, so I will really fill up the canopy :) Either way what I am saying is these EX Veg lights work amazingly and I am still only using them at 1/2 power!!! so a total of 200w in my veg tent is the draw! I'm amazed! As far as plant health, I haven't checked the brix yet, but will in a few weeks once they have grown more rootmass.

I repotted the girls from there 2 gallon round pots to 5 gallon plastic pots... with each plant I gently scored the roots with my fingertips to break up the root circling. I couldn't believe how dense the root mass was in each pot, definitely they were ready for transplant as each of them was just packed with roots! The soil that I used to fill in the rest of the 5 gallon pots was from my new rubber/plastic Bin that I use to cook/re-use/mineralize soil.

Curso turned me on to taking all the leaves and trimmings and throwing them into the soil to compost, so I have been doing this with all of my leaves and literally within a week or 2 they are gone and nice soil humus :) Each time that I dump old soil into the bin, I add worm castings, the 6-5-3 and some Azomite along with some crab shell meal and fish bone meal. Then I mix up the soil and let it cook.. I don't even know how old this soil is exactly, but probably has been used about 3x or more and is over 1 year old :)

So here are the girls, the next 6, completely bare, naked and trimmed, in new larger pots, fresh filler soil and lots of room to grow :) All of them were given just plain R/O water with no additives to help reduce any shock as well as wet the new soil to help moisten it. I also tonight hit them with a foliar feeding of R/O water, amaze, Pgr, micronutrients, cold pressed seaweed, hydrolyzed fish and carboload and yucca extract. (very very little amounts of each in a gallon of water) This was used on all my plants tonight including my flowering tent and 3rd mother tent.

Update time!

Flowering Tent: Advanced LED XTE 300s on day 39 of flowering...

Well... what can I say besides I am impressed. I know that Advanced LED has been around for quite a few years, and there's a reason for it, their lights kick ass! :) I honestly couldn't be happier with how things are looking in my tent and how cool it is and quiet it is.. I can barely even tell its running because I was able to not only turn my extraction fans down, because they are cooler running than previous panels... but also they run almost whisper silent so you can barely even hear the lights running :) but yet they run cool :) Definitely a plus in my book :)

These lights are very bright in fact about 8-10" away is too close and I have noticed some bleaching on a few buds that are within that height.. unfortunately I don't have much more vertical room to raise them, so I have had to supercrop a few of the taller branches in the tent..which is cool with me as I usually supercrop anyways in flowering to increase the yield and help adjust for light penetration.

I have to say looking back at past grows with the same strains, there is definitely becoming a noticable difference between these panels and previous grows... now obviously that is just a visual observation but it seems to me they are definitely producting much denser buds, much more penetration which is showing growth even low down into the plants without sacrifice of bud density.. Now its still early to make any conclusions, but these lights are really impressing me a lot :)

I have to say this is one of my most smelly grows yet.. I mean I open the tent and my entire room smells of heavenly buds :) way more than I have ever remembered which makes me very thankful for my carbon scrubber :) not that it really matters because I am legal, and its cali where everyone seems to be cool with it..

Well I gave the girls a foliar feeding tonight.. I wasn't going to give them any more but its been a while and so I decided to mix up my personal brix mix :) 1 gallon off r/o water with 15 ml of amaze, 10ml of PGR, 20 ml of carboload, a few drops of yucca extract, 10ml of hydrolyzed fish, micronutrients, potassium silicate, and fulvic acid. I pretty much always use this mix, minus the potassium silicate but added it to the mix to increase the P levels which I am pretty sure at this point of the grow are key for increasing brix, and increasing thc. I've seen plant leaf sample analysis of 4 different strains on each week of the grow, and all 4 of the strains definitely ramped up the need for K or at least the concentration in the samples towards mid late flowering so trying something a little new :)

As far as my nutrients for the next 3 days, the mix will consist of my earth juice tea with a few additives. I mixed up 5 gallons of R/O water with 80ml of EJ bloom, 40ml of Ej grow, yucca extract, a spoonful of tea activator from TandJ, a spoonful of Bio-Vam, 40ml of FloraBlend Tea from GenHyd.. Each day as I use some of this tea I will add more water so the mix gets more and more dilluted. It will be used for 3-4 days and then I will be switching to my next feeding in the cycle.

Well... here are today's photos.. Day 39....
