Hey Ice, How do you handle the run off water after watering in your scrog. I have been thinking about creating a platform high enough to be able to put a bin or something under it with a valve or something so I can drain out most of the run off water since the scrog is pretty much unmovable. I really dont want to need to vac it out every time, I usually water after the wife is in bed already. Currently I just stick the pot in a bin and then once its done draining I empty the water into a bucket and dump it on my yard palnts. My single little scrog i just try and not water enough to have a bunch of run off but this isn't always ideal esp at CD time.
Well, actually I rarely have runoff anymore.
I changed my watering schedule and so now I only water with 1-3 cups of water a day (cups as in the measurement unit).
For 5 gallon pots this pretty much just gives the plants enough water for the day and the next day the soil is pretty dry and ready for more water.
I used to water 1x per week in very heavy volume (like 6-10 cups per plant 1x per week) but my soil was not drying out fast enough and it was causing problems.
When I do "flush" or try to correct salt issues and water collects in the trays, I have been using a turkey baster to suck the water out...long tedious process where a waterproof shop vac would work much better probably.
Yea a turkey baster doesn't sound like much fun I don't usually have much run off but just enough that I don't like leaving it sitting in there. Its hard to get the sides watered without some poring out with the root builder pots. I think I am going to build it up about 6-8 inches that would give me enough room to slide a shallow container under and drain them out. I don't think loosing 6" of height will kill me since it will be a scrog I should have enough vertical room.
Are you guys talking of a flood table?
Looking good ice how long are you going to continue the cal mg / silica?
