Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing & Review

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

Hey PinkyGreen!! Welcome and I very much appreciate the compliments! I would suggest maybe reaching out to some companies and seeing what you can work out :)

This is the 2nd brand of LED that I have used, and so far I have to say these are very quiet, and also very bright. I love the flexibility of the light controller and custom programs and have high hopes for how my plants turn out.

I do agree that custom light schedules and programs is the next big thing. Plants don't receive the same sunlight all day, the color changes, the intensity changes, and so the way I look at it, our grow lights should too :) Also they allow for greater power savings because young plants don't need full intensity in veg, so with these lights, I can tune down the intensity, and save money on electric, where as other panels, I am stuck with 1 setting.. I definitely see this being the future of growing!! I can't wait to experiment!

I wish I could, but I don't really want to "rank them" for 2 reasons, the 1st reason being that this journal is sponsored by Intelligent-Gro and I don't feel it is fair to discuss or compare other light manufacturers on this thread. The 2nd reason being that I just received the lights about 2 weeks ago so I am very far off from finishing my journal/test grow (probably 3 months away) so I can't really give an opinion on growth or anything until after I am finished. I wish I could help more and I would say just stay tuned to my journal and you will be able to see how these lights do :)

Thank you so much PinkyGreen for the compliments and respect and I wish I could have given you a better answer, but just not there yet :) Respect!

You are so right Icemud! I am so sorry I asked. I have to tell you, I am very impressed with your LED! My birthday is in a couple weeks, but I have a feeling it's still out of reach.

Have a great day! :circle-of-love:

Hey Pinkygreen!! No worries about asking, I wish I could give you a better answer, but still gotta get at least 1 grow finished before I really can make any fair observations :) Stay tuned though because I have a feeling these lights will be amazing!

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

Nice grow! I never thought about different light spectrums thru the day, sounds very awesome to duplicate that!
Question, what size air pump and diffuser you using on your T&J?
I'm using a 110lpm and my neighbors must think a jumbo jet is landing in my living room! I need something a lot quieter as i live in a townhouse.

Thanks Brazel!! Yeah the custom spectrum on this light is awesome!!! I can't wait for all different types of experiments!

As far as my Air pump, its an Active Aqua AAPA7 model, which is a smaller aquarium size pump, with 2 air output hoses. For diffusers I use the large round 3 or 4" circular round diffusers, and I use 2 per bucket. I actually bought the whole t and J kit which comes with a round diffuser, but I didn't need to use it yet :)

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

I use those dual outlet pumps for my cloner and my veg girls
my bloom girls get commercial airpump the one im not using anymore was a 600gph 4 outlet 2 inch stones
got a 1110 gph sitting in my closet and currently using a 65lpm which sits about in the middle of the 2 previous pumps mentioned
all using 2 inch stones I got a 6 way splitter on the one im using now
I cut the noise down by sitting it on a soft cover book have a hose connected to the air inlet helps cut down noise

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

Air hose on the inlet, that's crafty......another thing i haven't thought of. I'm really happy to gain so much knowledge from the 420mag crew!

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

wow icey those girls have doubled maybe more sinct the first day!! i know mine are moving along fast too!

I have to say they are really liking the I-gro light, I definitely can say the veg growth is very similar to my 400w MH Ushio I started using originally back a few grows ago..

I know you guys like DIY stuff..who doesn't? dont answer...lol
I just had a thought. You said your "air pump and diffuser" was too noisy.... this may sound dumb but.. you can always place it in the middle of a 4" or 6" air duct muffler! Theoretically that should work. I have a 6" duct muffler on my carbon filter to inline fan combo and it is amazing and how much noise vibration is removed when the muffler is attached. If you were concerned about to much noise then this is a way for you to put your air pump and diffuser in the middle and it would allow ventilation for the air while muffling the noise that is being made.
I have a bran d new muffler I could snap a fun video to record how lod my air pump diffuser is then I can place it right into the middle and we can see how low the sound drops. not sure if you will all be able to hear ...it thorugh camera....hmm..lol

I'm really digging your style Ice. Very descriptive and narrative. After the first page alone I was hooked so I'm definitely subbed. Dave, you need to give Ice his propers; Now I know exactly what your LEDs are all about and I'm impressed. I'll have to go back to the video later when I have time but you can count me in as part of the flock Ice.

Man Cronic, I go through that no matter what time of day I'm 420ing.

Great suggestion. I actually did a DIY for quieting my blower fans on past grows. I put my blower fan in a rubbermaid container, cut a hole on each side for the air ducting, and wrapped the blower fan with studio foam, and closed the container, I swear it took the sound down by more than half.

You might even be able to put it on a mouse pad to help reduce the vibration which may help reduce the noise as well. Mine is pretty quiet (my pump) it just sounds like a small fish tank in my room when brewing tea :)

Hey B A R!!! Glad to have you here and really happy to hear that all the effort I put in is appreciated :) I look at testing from a consumers standpoint and myself, I am a very critical consumer, so I try to give all the information that "I" would want to know so others can learn from what I gather. I have to also give credit to DankyDave, so far I am really impressed with the I-Gro lights and I was blown away by how much info he has on his website regarding the product specs. Most LED manufacturers are very weak when it comes to giving the details about spectrums, and build and all, and Danky Dave I have to say has more info about his lights than any other LED I looked at, and I looked at them all.

I am happy to have you here, feel free to chime in whenever, ask any questions relating to the lights, and enjoy the show! Welcome!
