it will do 5 gallons water and 20lbs sugar in 3 days!! rather than a week or 2 for this purpose i would just add 5lbs every few days you can keep it going strong by dumping it out and adding fresh water and sugar before it gets to 25% booze and the yeast dies off,
some times you can resurrect the yeast buy saving the sludge in the bottom and adding it to fresh water yeast and shaking it vigorously to get oxygen in there, btw that also helps the yeast (adding o2 by agitation or an air-stone) look up yeast farms on u-tube for different versions, i use a hygrometer(7-20$) to keep an eye on the specific gravity aka alcohol level of the wort/slop lol
if you want mass co2 2 5 gallon carboys(water jugs) loaded with 10lbs sugars ,half a pouch super yeast x-press (or 1 cup of yeast from yeast farm) slap an airlock on top and a tsp yeast nutrient and i bet you'll hit 2500-3500ppm in a 4x4 in a day and last a week then refresh,
well i guess thats a bit more than 2cents lol but for alot less than a co2 tank and gear you can diy a decent option for good co2 supplementation
Does the brand of yeast matter?
What ratio of yeast to sugar to water do you use?
I have yeast for making bread, would that work?
Thanks

Honestly I don't really know the details of whats better or not, but per 2 gallon milk jug i put 2 yeast packets, one active dry and one was highly active yeast. I filled the jug up 1/2 full with water, and added a good 4 cups or so of white sugar. I poked a hole in the cap about the size of a pencil in diameter and shake it 1x per day, when I am in my tent.
I've acually used the larger 2 1/2 gallon water jugs too...
good info guys my 2 cents here, i have used bread and champagne yeast the wine types will last longer and produce a bit more co2 1 trick you can do to save money and have a steady supply is to build a yeast farm with a gallon jug you add yeast and yeast nutrient sugar i like to add some malt extract and various different sugars brown, white, honey, corn syrup, i have lots of leftover supplies from my brewing days i use that knowledge to make killer co2 farms when i feel like going to the extra effort, with a yeast farm you can keep the yeast breeding and growing and not have to buy more for years if you are so inclined, you can take a few tablespoons of the goop in the farm and spread it out on waxed paper , let it dry out and bag it up write the date on it and freeze it for up to a year to save your yeast culture so if something goes wrong and it all dies you can restart anytime, theres a really good yeast called super yeast x-press thats crazy aggressive and will withstand alcohol up to like 33% i think 25% for sure. With my 2-liter bottle setup, I can get upwards of 1500-2000 PPM in a relatively sealed 4'x2'x5' grow box. 0.5 Tbsp yeast/1 cup sugar maxes out at around 1500 PPM, averages around 1000 PPM and lasts around a week. 1.0 Tbsp yeast and 2 cups sugar maxes out at around 2000 PPM, averages between 1000-1500 PPM and lasts longer, typically between one and two weeks.
