Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing & Review

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

not sure why its giving you issues, but I just sent you a pm for Intelligent Gro, they should be able to help you out or take your order directly.

Got it ordered today. Would have responded to the pm but I haven't reached the 50 msg minimum yet. I appreciate your help and Dave is great to work with! Ladies are looking awesome Ice. Are you programming the glr with the controller that comes with the light?

Very excited to hear that you are going Intelligent Gro! You are going to love what these panels can do. I am not currently using the GLR for veg, I wanted to run the 18/6 factory veg schedule to show what it can do, and so far I am very impressed. I think that one of the other Intelligent Gro "growers" here are doing GLR, but I can't remember who. You definitely will be happy with the panels and Dave is definitely a good guy to work with as he really does put a lot into the design of these panels.

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

Icemud...I have been lurking through your journals for a while as well as BID's. Just recently bought 4 700w Mars II Bloom only (after watching your grow)....and then I find this Journal of yours....lmao!!! Well...I will be following the rest of this Journal and may have to split my room in two depending on how this trip goes..>!!

I do have a question...have you made a run with Bloom only LED's? I have been looking around to find some information...but haven't been able to locate any info....wondering if having mostly red....would that increase usable bloom light...would that technically increase yield...(thought process is....you are not wasting so to speak light that could be/should be red)

Hey whynot! Glad that I was able to help with my journals. Out of respect for the current company I am sponsored by, I will only talk about Intelligent Gro LED's here on this thread.

To answer your question about using bloom only leds (I'm assuming you mean just red) I haven't used them only (and don't see a point, I believe plants use a modified PAR full spectrum lighting, by using red only, In my belief, the plants will not reach full potential). With the current LED's I am using by Intelligent Gro, there is no need for purchasing separate lights for bloom or veg because the Intelligent Gro LED's have custom channels that the user "grower" can program to fit whatever needs are at hand...For instance, with Intelligent Gro in your situation, all you would have to do is turn up the "bloom" channels intensity and you would get more red, and lets say then you wanted to use the same Intelligent Gro light for veg.. Really simple, all you have to do is custom program the light, and minimize the red, boost up the blue, and you have it all...One light with infinite combo's of Light color adjustments and intensities.

As far as giving a plant more light to increase bloom, yes by giving a plant more light, you will generally have larger buds....that is up until the light reaches the "light saturation point". The Light Saturation Point is where a plant can not use any more of the available light (too bright) and increasing light intensity past this point will do nothing more to the growth and possibly can Hinder a yield. Now at the light saturation point, there are other "auxillary receptors/pigments" that will step into action and help use any additional light, but this can only go so far, therefore to answer your question, yes, giving a plant more light will result typically in a larger yield, but only up to the light saturation point.

Now regarding wasted light, LED's are made to address the "usable" light that plants like, basically most colors but green are used in LED lights. This is due to the PAR curve, in which plants see a different light than us humans do... So with LED grow lights, there really isn't any "unused light or wasted light that should be red" All of the colors that most LED lights use are also used by the plant. Its just getting the ratios right which is what us growers and LED manufacturers are trying to figure out, whats the best ratios red to blue and so on.... with the Intelligent gro lights, since I the grower am in full control of the "ratio" then I am free to do what I feel is right as a grower, where other growers may choose a different approach or belief... the nice thing with the Intelligent Gro lights, is the same light would be able to satisfy both growers... :)

Hope this helped..

Ice, are you familiar with 'fast version' seeds? I have noticed more cos. offering them, and was wondering what they were..

Hey Dr Ziggy! Not sure what those are, never heard of them. I have only grown from clones so far, so seeds are definitely not one of my knowledge areas. I would say that just a shot in the dark guess would be that they mature faster??? not sure in the least though.

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

they are fem non auto flowering seeds, mainly stabilized hybrids crossed with 3rd 4th gen auto to create a plant to flower quicker, ahh the goggle search, id never heard of them.

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

Hey everyone... Just a quick update...

Today I decided was time to take clones of all the girls before they hit flowering (very soon) and I also wanted to do some clean up/maintenance on the plants. Basically removing any dead leaves, cutting off any small little branches that never will be anything, and overall just a gentle lollipopping of the girls.

I also decided to cut the tops off all the plants one last time before I flip them to flowering, I really want the plants to push up those smaller branches and create a few more tops before budding, just to max out the grow space :) I will be flipping them within the next week or 2 so stay tuned as we see which ones of these are jacks magic beans! LOL Before flowering I will be removing the plants to put in bamboo poles and tie them up slightly so that as they stretch the go upward and not as much outward.

Well here are some photo's of the girls after I topped them 1 last time (gave them a haircut!)

And photos of the clones I took. I ended up taking 3 clones of each plant, including both of the GDP plants because 1 seems to be growing much larger than the other, so I'm going to keep both of them and see what happens in flowering, if its the same then Ill keep the bigger one, if they are different, then I may keep them both :)

Here's the photo's enjoy!

G'day icemud, plant look beautiful man. How tall are they at the moment? How often are you raising your light? How tall do you plan the plants to get to? Will you keep light at 18" from tops or bring closer? Peace man

Hey Grizzwald!! I appreciate ya stopping by!! Before I gave them a topping today, the girls probably were about 18" to 2' tall from the top of the soil. I am going to be flipping to flowering soon, probably within the week or maybe 2 at the most. The plants are loving the Intelligent Gro lights so far, and seem to be growing about 1 to 2" per day/night cycle, and currently I have them about 18" from the lights to the canopy. I usually let them grow up to about 12-14"" away, and then move the lights up.

Nice video Ice!! Question: I assume the light you're using is either cfl or maybe led? What wattage? And color temp? Ijust did a few the other day and I'm using my IGRO 114 in clone mode. But in the future would like an easy setup like that.

We're almost on the same schedule Ice. My girls are from seed and not nearly as big, but I'm on week 5 of veg and plan on going 6 weeks then flip which will be another 9-10 days.

cheers

The IGro 114 will work great for clones. I am currently using a 26w CFL 6500K bulb to illuminate the clones. I put it on 24/0 for the first 2 weeks and usually by then I have nice rooted clones.

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

Hey Ice,

Would the 114w be a good option as a flowering addition like Doc is doing with the UFO?

Seems like a good all purpose addition to any grow.

I would have to say yes, more light especially in the PAR regions would definitely be a nice addition to any current grow light.

I wanted to add to my 1st reply as well...

The actual setup is quite cheap and you can usually pick up at any hydrostore or online hydro/growshop retailer. I think I purchased the clone tray/humidity dome filed with peat pellets and a pack of clonex for around 30$ and the heat pad was around 20-30$ as well. I like it cause its easy, doesn't take much effort and works very well. I'd say most of the time I get about a 80-90% success rate.

You could easily hang the Igro 114 above the tray and I'm sure the clones would take off. I actually should be using a slighly bigger light myself. Maybe a future thing for me to consider as well :)

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

Hey Everyone!!!

So just a quick update.... I am preparing to flower this tent very soon, so yesterday I spent some time adding 4' bamboo poles to my girls and tying them up. I want to help give them space but not overcrowd each other, as well as something to guide the girls as they go through their pre flowering stretch. Some of the strains like the GDP have very thick stems and will be able to hold up large buds, but some of the others like the green candy and the black cherry cola are very flimsy whispy stems in which the support definitely is needed.

I still am having some kind of nutrient issue on a few of my plants.... Here is what the leaves look like...I believe it is a Mg issue/deficiency, but I am not 100% sure either. Any others who have seen this before feel free to chime in.

DSC091842.JPG
DSC091852.JPG

I have a nutrient tea bubbling and will feed the girls tomorrow, started it yesterday and its been brewing for about 24 hours so tomorrow or possibly today they will get fed. I mixed 5 gallons of R/O water with:

2 spoonfuls of TandJ tea activator
3 spoonfuls of TandJ Biominerals
1 spoonful of Azomite
40ml of Earthjuice Gro 2-1-1
30ml of Earthjuice Bloom 0-3-1
2 spoonfuls of epsom salts
10ml of mango coconut juice

I have to run and get more Cal/mag...I was going to get General organics again but then I saw that Humboldt nutrients has a product called equillibrium which boasts a 12% CA 2%mg instead of the general organics 5%:1% Ca/mg.. A slightly higher Ca;Mg ratio which I like. For high brix soil the blend should host a 7:1 or higher Ca/Mg ratio (soil)

I also gave the girls a foliar feeding last night of 1/2 Gallon of R/O water mixed with:
2 cups of "tea" from above
yucca extract
added 5m of Amaze
10ml of PGR

and soaked the girls!

Well today will be the day that I put the girls into flower, so technically tomorrow will be the 1st day of flowering!!! I can't wait any longer because otherwise they will get too tall :) So lets flip em and see what happens. I will be using the recommended Bloom Schedule on the custom controller with the Intelligent Gro lights.
