Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing & Review

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

Thank you B A R!!!

Ice, you are productive, I'm sweating at reading about all your work!

Haha.. :) thanks Jaamzhow, I was definitely sweating too, thankfully it was only in the lower 60's today so I had a nice breeze blowing in the window to keep me somewhat cool :)

Here Ice. I just read the whole thing and I'm diggin it. Your little bushy girls look like they're loving life so far. Keep up the great growing.

Hey Governmentchz!! Welcome, really happy to hear you are enjoying my journal. I think these lights so far have impressed me quite a bit with the way the girls are looking. Now if they can flower just as good, I will be a happy indoor farmer :)

Real nice leaf structure going on but for 2 months they seem a tad short. Good video. Thanks for showing us into your grow.

For almost the first month, they were started off slow under the Gas Lamp Routine (from clones) and put under my other LED which doesn't veg as fast. Then after I got the Intelligent Gro LEDs, about a month into veg, it seems the growth just exploded under these LED's vs my other ones. I am so far very stoked on how healthy my plants look and really impressed with the size of the leaves on the Ogiesel... very large for a tightly packed indoor grow :) I appreciate the compliments and for you being here for the grow :) cheers.

looking good as usual ice! im crazy busy lately but i swear i will get a big update done soon, but at least i can look at your kik butt stuff till then im impressed with these lights too ! i have strain envy btw lol:rocker::rocker:

Hey BID!! Thanks man... I've been pretty busy lately too and the next few weeks are going to get even busier. Hopefully I will be able to keep up with everything in the coming weeks. I'm so excited, my brother is getting Married next week...so happy for him! And I get to be his best man which is totally an honor... working on my speech the next few days, wish me luck :)

I'm so far very impressed with these lights and can't wait to see how they perform in flowering. If they do as well as they are now, I will be in for a great harvest :) Yeah I'm a little in envy too of the strains I have... I lucked out with just finding the right people at the right time... I really can't wait for the Black Cherry Cola...I saw some photo's of it, and it is completely purple buds :) excited to have some purps on this run :)

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

Everything is looking awesome Ice. The veg growth looks really nice for LED, not too bushy but still respectable, and they are still stretching a little between nodes.
I find my LED lights are not the best for veg cause they make the plant almost to bushy, and node spacing is so tight it makes the plants hard to train. Looks like the intelligent grow light spectrum controls are really working well for veg though. I can't wait to see what those bad boys are gonna do in flower.
Keep up the great work.;)

Hey Stealthgrow... I have to say that I am too very impressed with these lights. My other LED's veg much slower and also like you said, produce very very bushy tight node plants which I actually like for scrogging and such, but I am overall very happy with the growth traits these lights are promoting... good internode distance, large leaves, very healthy plants :)

I'm excited for flowering too, I would say it most likely will be in the next 3-4 weeks, really once I get back from my trip in 2 weeks I will be deciding. I also have to take clones of each of these to make sure that I can keep the genetics around until I can make feminized seeds of all of them.

Really appreciate you stopping by and for the kind words!!

So you really like the Intelligent Grow LED so far and think it's better than the Top LED? I want to make sure I know what one's you are talking about.

Thanks Ice, your tent/grow is awesome!:bravo:

Hey PinkyGreen! I think it is too early to really say Yes or No on your question of which is better because I have yet to flower with the Intelligent Gro Led's.

As far as veg, I would say that the Intelligent Gro is definitely showing faster growth than the reflector series I used, however, I do want to note a few things that don't really make it a fair comparison either.

With my reflector series, I am only using the veg setting, and its only drawing about 180w total, vs the Intelligent gro led's which each draw 180w for a total of 360w...so its really hard to say which is better because they both so far veg very well, just differently. The intelligent Gro is vegging faster, but I also am using double the wattage of LED lights, and also I was running the reflector series in the Gas Lantern Routine, vs the Intelligent Gro I am running in 18/6 setting.

I'll put it this way, I so far am very impressed with both LED's that I have but it is still too early to really make a judgement until I complete a harvest. As far as the "cool factor" about the programmable schedules, I love the Intelligent Gro Leds...They also seem to blend the light spectrums together much better because of the lenses on the diodes.

Either way, stay tuned because it should get exciting, and have some killer strains this run :) new ones to me too so I don't really know what to expect yet :)

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

Enjoyed the Vid Ice. I usually don't get a chance to watch them as I do most of my 420ing at work. I don't think that would be to cool for the cubicles around me to hear someone explaining a weed grow. When I'm home & logged in I'm trying to stay caught up on the more than 100 journals I'm subbed to or working on a Photo Shoot (they're not all active but I do unsub from them once they're complete). I have the day off. I believe I may start watching the Vids as they seem to give a better view of the grower's personality with the voice & all but even the shortest vids are at least a minute long. I can read at least 4 or 5 post in that time. Maybe I'll allocate one day a week to watch videos. How? I don't know. The old Gal is already on my case calling me a 420 Geek & has no idea how much time I spend on 420 at work. LOL

Thanks Icemud, that's fair! I am excited to see what it does for you~
I really appreciate all of your info! :circle-of-love:

You are very welcome Pinky Green!

ROFLOL! This sounds very familier at my home. Lucky for me my job is either very busy (no 420 time at all) or very slow and requires monitoring email and such (perfect 420 and 420mag time). So on weekends and evenings I am trying to not spend all my time gardening or talking about gardening so my wife and children don't forget what I look like.

Thanks for the comparison Ice. I know you were sponsored, but if I am not mistaken there is a major price difference between all the products that are out there. (?) I think that can make a big difference in reviews too. It wouldn't be fair to evaluate a Honda and a Mercedes in the same review and criticize the Honda for it's lack of features and refinement. The Honda is a great car and the Mercedes would be incredible to get to drive everyday. Is it possible you have the Honda and Mercedes of LEDs? Both really nice but targeted at different user segments? A head to head may not be fair in the end.

Bob ;)

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

LMAO...I guess we're all in the same boat then. I'm only starting my 2nd grow now because my wife wanted some fresh herbs (yes, basil, mint, etc,) after my last harvest. I also have a tendency to go from 0-120 mph once I decide to do something and then I'm "all in". I think she wanted to slow that roll just a bit. Also, about half my forum time is from work too. :reading420magazine:

@ Dr Bob...I couldn't have said it better regarding the analogy between car makes. For instance, the light I have right now wasn't expensive comparatively. It doesn't have any switches or different settings, but I know it can help ME grow some GREAT meds. It just doesn't have any bells or whistles. But, for what I needed (and expected) it to do, it did very, very well.

peace

LOL!! I totally hear ya about being at work and watching videos and such, however, I did once work for a 420 related online company, a dispensery mapping site, and I remember the first day walking into the building, dressed to impress and I was shown to my desk. I look at all the other employees and they were dressed casual, with bongs, and bubblers and weed photos, nugshots all over. I was like wow!! It was almost awkward to be there being that most other professional companies I've worked for were the complete opposite..LOL. Unfortunately I only worked there for 2 days because of some contract related inconsistancies on their part, what a bummer because it would been such an awesome environment to work for, a pro 420 cubical office :) LOL

I too find it difficult to keep up with all the journals I have subbed for, sometimes I feel bad so I try to make the effort, but sometimes time and life get a hold of me and I fall behind....wow 100 plus journals... I thought keeping up with like 20 threads was a lot.. LOL thats some solid dedication man! I even more appreciate you taking the time to stop by and hang out :)

I try to keep the videos going because I agree, it gives a different perspective of the grower, allows for better explaination. My scrog how to video would be impossible to do the same way with just photos and words... so I like the different look into personalities, as well as a more 3D type look into the grow environment too :)

Anyhow BAR Thanks for coming thru, your always welcome anytime :)

Hey Bob!

I want to point out that even though these lights were sponsored to me, I am in no way swaying my actual results in the favor of I-Grow, nor misrepresenting anything I document here on 420 magazine. I'm here for all of you, to test these lights and see if they work, produce good results, and compare with other lights that I have used. (HID and LED). **Just wanted to point this out so everyone knows that whats here is real, and in no way is my sponsorship altering what I write or communicate here. :)

For the most part, I would say 80% of the LED's on the market are pretty much in the same range of prices, with the exception of going directly to the manufacturer. I do like where you were going with the Honda/Mercedes analogy, but I think that with plants its slightly different, because the comparison is not, can it get you from A to B (can it grow a plant that buds) but more of a comparison of which LED can grow the best cannabis.

A lot of the "upgraded features" such as lenses to help focus and blend the light are definitely more of an improvement that is beneficial and will help penetrate the canopy further. But also does inquire more cost in manufacturing thus an enhanced price.

LED's with 10 bands will definitely grow better plants than LED's with 5 or 6 bands. (*assuming that the LED wavelenghts are in the PAR spectrum key points.) but there is more cost in certain diode chips vs common ones.

Features like Intelligent Gro offers with custom programs can save you extra $$ over non adjustable lights because when you are keeping clones or have plants in early veg, you don't need "flowering power" out of your lights to get them growing. So if you go with a all in one solution, that cant be "dimmed" then you essentially are paying more for electricity over the course of the grow than going with an adjustable solution.

So to me, we are paying more for features that we need, yes we can go without and still grow a fine plant. I do also use the "honda" version lights as well, which do a fine job, but I think my results with the mercedes version will be of better quality, because of the beneficial upgrades that benefit the plants quality.

So all and all, If comparing lights of different prices, but of the same power range, I think it is fair to compare them. The Test grow isn't finished and who knows, the cheaper lights may work better??? I know with HID lighting, my $40 Ceramic Metal halides could kick the living crap out of bulbs 4x the price, because it was all about the spectrum it outputs....

I honestly don't like how expensive all of the LED grow lights are....and I think that prices will come down, as more companies enter the market, technologies emerge and grow, and marijuana becomes more socially accepted and legal.

Thanxx Ice. It's not really that hard unless I fall behind. I read faster than I can speak.

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

Hey Icemud, with these lights, I'd say they are priced more like the sports model Honda, and not a Mercedes at all. There are other LEDs, I've looked, that have the price tag but not the full features of these. Most have a veg and flower switch, not a programable spectrum. And these I-gro flower autos very well, so far. Peace
Plus they have a muffler!!

Thats funny you say that Grizzwald...I was almost going to write the same thing, its more like a base model honda vs a fully loaded honda..LOL

i decided to put both the i grows in the big tent so i can get max intensity and power for the best opportunity to rock the scale @ the end i got some new D.J. S. auto blueberry crosses so im still gonna do the sog and the blue dreams in the ebb n flo but i really want to run these new autos ,i already know how they veg photo strains (quite good) and im anxious to get something flowered from the gitgo the cool thing is i can move the autos to grow under veg or flower schedules and they will do good! :rocker:
