Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing & Review

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

Mould is a major problem that does not go away easily and can always creep back once it originally appears.
I purchased a UV Hand Held Lamp Wand for getting rid of mold and then as a preventative measure thereafter. Was a bit pricy but.. was super easy as it literally just kills the mold right their on the spot.

Yeah I only had to battle mold 1x and I lost most of my crops. I ended up destroying them and tried almost every suggested thing to rid the mold but it just kept coming back. It is a systematic plant issue that you wont even see PM until it has already been in your plant for a week or 2.

I tried copper sprays, oil sprays, serenade, SNS, and a bunch of home remedies from cinnamon and garlic, to milk/water to even using PH up to try to raise the ph and it ended up getting the best of my crops. The best thing is environmental control, airflow and defoliation if necessary to prevent. I did also have a UV-A lamp that I used but it still seemed to spread, even with nightly UV treatments.

I hope I never get it again because it sucks to lose crops that have been worked on so long and with so much care :)

The only issue I am having in my head right now is during flowering time. it is one thing hooking it up to a vent but how you going to filter the air? usually air is drawn through a filter before going into the duct work and comes out basically filtered at the other end.
Most LED panels have vents all around the panel so adding a filter before the air is pulled through the exhaust on the panel is not an option.

Any thoughts.... I know their are a ton of different perspectives or ways to see something....what am I missing, here? SOmetihng is not right about just pulling air thorugh the led and shooting it out of the grow room..

I have a larger fan that I am going to put in my tent. I am also going to redirect the exaust ducting to a different area of the room and see if it makes a difference. It is really just a minor issue and I think that I can get temps lower by just adding a larger evacuation fan.

As far as future design it would be interesting to see how it all would work.. maybe a completely sealed LED that only vents on 2 sides through a 6" or 4" ducting connector... it would go carbon scubber...some ducting... one side of the light connects to the ducting... the cooler air gets sucked through the light and evacuates on the other side, and then another duct hooks up there, and goes to the inline fan, and out the tent. .

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

If you pull the air through vent from the room the inside of the unit will look like a 10 year old motherboard, a dust sweater over all the components. It would have to work like an HID cooltube, blowing filtered air over the unit, then that air exits out a duct to the outside.

isn't that the way the air is pulled through the unit now?

maybe it needs something to filter the air before it is drawn into the light, like taping a dryer sheet over the holes. That's what I have used on PC's. Or maybe cut some small pieces of a cheap furnace filter.

..let me put it this way...I think I can make sometihng that I can include inside each Panel box that can be assemble and connected to the panel for those who would want to attach a 4" duct.

As soon as I have it made and ready to be included for free with my Panels I will let you know. May take a few weeks.

just google 4 inch duct flange and you can find them.

probably be easy to attach with a few self tap screws, as long as they are short and will not interfere with whats inside the unit

wow makes me curious how hot my led's are
im sure they are all not equal when it comes to how much heat its putting off
at least I hope not

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

Which part of the led would read 80F? just curious. When I did the temp readings this is what I got..
Its definitely not a problem at all, but just a worthy mention that with LED, the warm air vents into the tent, with HID and a air cooled hood, a majority of the heat is vented right out of the tent.

Its not just Intelligent Gro lights, my other brand LED's also slightly raised the temps in the tent.

I was talking about the temperature of the room being about 80 degrees not the actual panel itself.
If you guys go abck and look at the you tube video you will see how the design of my panels are made to completely pull the heat away from the PCB/LED/COB. Our panels are entirely made of aluminum.. the heat gets dissipated through the aluminum and spreads out around the whole panel while at the same time the aluminum hEat sinkers with fan are pulling the heat energy out of the panel. So in short instead of only being limited to the heatsinks and fans to draw the heat away from the LED chips... it also is passively distributed through out the entire aluminum panel at the same time the fan/heatsinks are doing their job.

If anyone wants to re-write that for me. I am not a writer but I be glad to include this information as part of describing the LED panels on my website.

I could have two different back-side panel designs, then make it an option for the customer.

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

Hey everyone, just wanted to do a quick photo update for today. So far the growth rate is amazing with the intelligent gro lights. Much faster growth than my other led's it seems like :) I gave the girls a foliar spray of amaze, pgr, carboload, cold pressed seaweed and organic b yesterday and today I also gave them a little bit of R/O water, plain because they are thirsty. I will be mixing up a t and j tea tonight and most likely feeding them tomorrow or the next day.

Other than that the plants look very healthy!!!

I will get to everyones past comments tommorrow, very tired tonight...

Enjoy!

they look great ice and growing fast!! you know i been venting my veg tent with a 4in system all along when i was using the t5 i had no big problems i hang the carbon scrubber up high where the heat goes and suck it out with an inline fan i have reduced the frequency from 24/7 to 30 min every couple hours and temps have decreased i dont have anywhere near the heat build up with the i-gro led as i did with any of the other lights 400hps/600hps 2x4 6 bulb t5 , are you venting the whole room? i do it the way i do to get the cooling, odor control and fresh air exchange thru the vents on the tent works for me for the last few yrs:thumb:

Yeah the room is vented the same as I had it with a 400w Ceramic Metal Halide running. I have a fairly large carbon scrubber, and a 4" inline fan (probably at least 250-350CFM) and it is mounted at the ceiling of the tent. I also have 2x 6" ducts for intake air to come in and they let the air in at ground level. I have to say that the 2 IGrow led's run hotter than the tent next to it running 3x LED's of the same wattage. I am going to hook up my 6" fan and take out the 4" fan and see if it helps.

Re: Icemud's Grow 8.0 - New Intelligent-Gro LED - 2 x IGRO-228 LED - Testing And Revi

I can't wait to test mine later this week when my 3 units show up. It won't be as much as you are running with the 3 Mars400s but it will be 432w of LEDs, I think there are so many things that influence how air moves in a room/tent like these. I have had a bunch of closets and grow spaces before and have sometimes been surprised with what fixes things. My first tent I had a low intake that I placed a long hose on that I could move around depending on the household conditions that were creating heat. It was a manual pain in the rear but I could keep the 400w at less than 80 in the sealed tent during summer. But it showed to me how minor changes in the household micro environment can have a big effect on these small spaces.

Was that even coherent? I am in harvest testing mode and it seems to be working. :roorrip:

I think that it might just be that I need a stronger fan, but either way my plants seem very happy so as long as they like it, I'm good with it too :) I moved my circulation fan to a lower spot in the tent to help blow cold air around the plants and help circulate the warm air upwards and tomorrow I should be putting in a 6" duct fan too.
