Hazeman at Infinity Genetics. I asked Hazeman where he got the Gods Gift from or how he made it and was told:
"No they where seeds and there f2 grand daddy purple x og kush. Got them in a trade from a guy in California. Grew them and it was outstanding strain so I made seeds."
Germination:
8 of the Gods gift seeds were put into water 2 of the seeds cracked first and for some reason the seeds cracked wide open and the entire taproot and embryo with cotyledon came out and was floating in the water. Those were put in soil about a week ago...(Around December 13th (Friday the 13th), 2019, is when the seeds were put in water).
Of the remaining 6 seeds, 5 cracked and the taproot showed and all were placed into soil about a week ago as well (a couple took longer). As of December 20th, 2019, of the 5 seeds in soil. So far 3 of them have emerged from the soil, 1 seems to be struggling and 2 look healthy. 2 of the others have yet to pop out of the soil, and the other 2 mentioned above which separted from the seed, also have not come up out of the soil. I'm hoping over the next week more will pop, but only time will tell. 1 seed is still soaking in water and has not popped yet.
The 2 healthy ones began to grow, the 1 straggler took about 2-3 weeks to really grow at all, but now has corrected itself and caught up with the others. None of the other seeds emerged from the soil, so I took the remaining 4 Gods Gift seeds and put them into water. All 4 cracked and were placed into soil.
About 1 week later 3 of the 4 new seeds has come up in the soil, bringing the total amount of plants to 6 gods gift.
VEG:
Around January 29th, or a little more than a month after germination, all 6 of the gods gift plants were topped. The oldest 2 were about 12" tall and the 4 younger plants were about 10" tall. The plants are growing very uniform in size, structure and leaves. Not much difference between the plants visually is noticed. There are 2 with a slight more taller/lanky build but not by much. At this point the plants are about 30 days old.
GODS GIFT PROJECT UPDATE (last day of veg) April 28, 2020
The Gods Gift project has been in veg now since the seeds were first placed into soil around December 19th so they have been now in veg for about 4.5 months. (much longer than I would have liked). Due to my situation and having perpetual grows, its very hard to judge the timing between my veg and flowering tents, therefore due to these plants intense vigor and the long veg period, I've had to top them numerous times through the 4 month period.
Plant Sexes:
Overall out of 6 plants, 4 are suspected at this time to be male and 2 are definitely female. All 6 of the plants are almost identical in height, node spacing is very similar, branching is similar and leaf size and structure is similar. All of the 6 phenos do have slight differences but overall the seem to be less variation that I would have expected. Stem rubs on the males do show that there seem to be 2 distinct terpene profiles, where one has a more fuel/dill pickle smell which I would assume is leaning more OG kush heavy. The other stem rub reveals a sweet, slight berry, hot wax smell which is definitely more of a trait of the berry strains like BCS and GDP.
The 2 Females:
Both of the females are very similar in structure, height and branching, however they also do have distinct differences between them. The terpene profiles are both different based on a stemrub, leaf profiles are different slightly, and branching structure although similar does have some unique differences.
Phenotype #4
VEG:This phenotype definitely leans more towards the GDP parent in structure/branching, stem rub/terpenes and leafy/node growth trait, however has the long stretchy internodes of typical OG kushes. The stems are thick and seem to be quite rigid. The internodes on this have very leafy nodes similar to how GDP grows where a lot of "cleanup pruning" is needed to control the larf quite often. This phenotype also has the lanky long "wacky" branching that GDP typically shows on the lower branches where it has vine like characteristics. On a stem rub, the terpenes reveal a sweet berry mixed with a hot wax smell which is very similar to other berry strains I've grown. The leaves on this pheno are showing a slight nitrogen toxicity from their last feeding as well as slightly "bluish" leaves so I will have to ease up on the nitrogen next cycle. GDP is definitely a very finicky plant in my experience, so also this phenotype definitely shows a little more stress to nutrients than the other pheno which has none shown.
Flowering: This phenotype of gods gift grew tall and topped out around 5’. The buds were quite large, and I had 1 primary cola and a few side colas. The buds overall were very leafy, definitely not “trimmer friendly” but did pack on some good weight and girth. The trichome development was not great, but not horrible I would rate it probably a 5 out of 10. The fragrance and terp profile was definitely the typical gods gift.. gas/kushy blended nicely with a slight grape/fruit punch and a spice. The terpene strength was also not very strong so I would rate the terpenes around 5 or 6 out of 10. Overall these were F2’s I believe, which usually have quite a bit of variation, so I think that if worked a little this line would have some promise to it. Pluses: ease of growth, large heavy buds, good solid structure, terpene profile was good smelling, but light…. Cons: mediocre terpene strength, trichome density average or below average, leafy.
Phenotype #7
VEG:This phenotype definitely leans more to the OG Kush parent. Although similar in overall structure, height, branching to the other phenotype of gods gift, this pheno definitely shows more similarity to traditional OG kushes. The stems on this phenotype are sturdy with long internodes and much less "larfy internode leaf" as the other phenotype which is more typical of an OG kush. This phenotype still does have some of those "wacky" branches on GDP but overall the structure resembles more of OG kush. A stem rub on this phenotype reveals a dill pickle/fuel smell which definitely is a trait of OG Kush plants so most likely the terpenes will lean more in this direction. This plant is showing less nutrient stress than the other phenotype so it seems to be more tolerant of "hot" N feedings than the other.
Flowering/harvest: This phenotype was NOT the select phenotype of the 2 females. Overall the buds were smaller than pheno 4 (although there were 2 main tops instead of 1 on #4), the girth was significantly smaller. This phenotype was also very leafy and would not be pleasant to trim, however under the leaf there were decently dense buds. Trichome development was average at best, and the buds were definitely not as sticky as I would have preferred. Terpene profile was fairly bland where nothing really stuck out or was amazing, and it had just a bland kushy type cannabis smell, but defintely not the grape, or gas that Gods Gift usually has… The pros are that the pheno overall was pretty easy to grow, and actually grew quite well until I stunted their growth by giving too high of EC nutrients mid flowering. Overall pheno 4 would be a much better choice for future breeding.
Overall Veg impressions:
Its been actually quite pleasant growing the Gods Gift through Veg as they have been extremely hardy, easy to grow, tolerant plants which exploded in growth once the roots established. All of the plants including the males really throw off quite a bit of fragrance when the leaves and branches are moved around. Having grown both parents (GDP and OG kush) I find that the Gods Gift is a great blend of the best of the attributes of each strain and look forward to how they perform in flowering. Thus far I would say for ease of growing 5 out of 5.
Today I will be setting the timers for 12/12 and we will watch as these beauties go into flowering. I have taken clones of each of the female phenotypes and will chose one for future seed projects based on how they perform in early and mid flowering.
Overall flowering and harvest observations:
Overall, the Gods gift was not a horrible project, but it was nothing amazing either. The Gods gift phenos (both) grew fast, hardy and were pretty easy to grow which was a plus. The plant structure, bud size/density was good and node spacing was good. The cons: terpene strength was sub par, trichome formation was also below average, and the buds were extremely leafy. In mid-late flowering I gave too strong of a nutrient feeding which burned a lot of the leaves that were in direct light on the buds as well as many of the fan leaves, which could have hurt the trichome and terpene production, but overall I think this lack was because of the chemotype, and not the feedings, as prior to the feeding the terpenes and trichomes were also still mediocre. Overall I think that the Gods Gift line would need to be pheno hunted from pheno #4 as I do think there is much potential in the line, however the 2 phenotypes I received that were female were definitely not “farm ready” in any way.
