Thanks Millertm! yea its a bit tricky running 2 different tents, with about 8 strains total all needing slightly different care, but I have got it down where the results now are right in the zone I was lookign for still hopefully getting better with every grow always more to learn and improve on

Those blue lights are interesting, however I used similar ones by Advanced which were all blue, and noticed the lack of red in the spectrum creates very stretchy plants. Not sure if the BM's are any different, however due to the research I did it seems that all blue spectrums do this without any red. The Ex-VEG that I used did an amazing job vegging the plants, very fast and happy plants, but just very stretchy as well.

That was an interesting comment about blue led panels perhaps not so practical for mj vegging but may be for other plant species.

At work i often get trade magazines land up on my coffee table for a gander & some times news on commercial led panels or products most suggest it is finding the right spectrum or blend of light for species grown as each & every one prefers some thing a little different for optimal growth results.

Ye a lot of research & cost then the standard stuff on the market.

At work i often get trade magazines land up on my coffee table for a gander & some times news on commercial led panels or products most suggest it is finding the right spectrum or blend of light for species grown as each & every one prefers some thing a little different for optimal growth results.

Ye a lot of research & cost then the standard stuff on the market.

In the research I have done, there is still a lot that "we" need to learn on plant spectrums and each species of plant varies on how it uses light. I've even seen where the same species of plants but different phenotypes from different geographical areas also use light differently. I think overall, the closest we get to sunlight the better off we are, as plant have naturally developed for millions of years under the sun. What is interesting to me is green is the most abundant wavelengths in sunlight, and plants reflect more green light than other colors... and my thought is we should almost treat plant lighting like a music equalizer. If a song is heavy in mids but lacks in bass and treble we use the EQ to turn it up. So being that plants are more sensitive to red/blue and reflect a small portion (about 20% of green) that we should actually be pumping them with more green, and less blue/red. This is my theory of course, but when looking at the suns spectrum, and the plant response curves it makes sense.

Lots more research needs to be done though on plant lighting in general, as it is still understood to a point, but there is much more to know in terms of photoperiod manipulation and photomorphogenesis.

Quick Update...


So today I noticed that 1 of the Tangie 5 clones and the 2nd Harlequin clones had rooted so I moved them into the soil pots and put under the GOD light on 1/2 power. I noticed that for some reason the cuttings of Tangie 3 and Black Diamond OG weren't looking too good so I replaced them with some fresh new cuttings and into the humidity dome they went

Still waiting on the rest to root before flipping to flowering so should be about a week or so.

I also while taking some cuttings trimmed up a few of the plants in the COB tent, removing the underbrush, dead leaves and small branches which never will develop into any buds. I did this in preparation for flowering in about a week to help allow for better airflow, as well as removing the branches that will not produce

other than that, no other updates for tonight.

I have a question about Refractometers. Mine calls for distilled water to calibrate it. Do you actually go buy distilled water or will RO water work?

Hey DrCannabi.

I believe R/O will work, as long as it has 0 TDS. The TDS of the liquid causes the light to refract at different angles, so you want to use either distilled water with 0ppm or if your R/O has a D/I filter then its probably at 0ppm already.

Well I may not know a fraction about led compared to you my friend but photoperiod manipulations in terms of lighting hours etc. Then I can say without doubt most of the rules and worries we all have when starting out are complete rubbish! these plants let you mess no end and I've had some great results through extending light cycles
Just my two cents, now back to the shadows lol

I agree, so many things we are fearful of are just misunderstood as well as many things we "know" may not be correct I love how the internet and forums like this bring growers together to share knowledge and grow into better gardeners I couldn't imagine being a grower 20 or 30 years ago and only getting information from other growers if you happened to run into them or know them. Now with cannabis more legally represented and the "refer madness" idealism going with the wind, its opened a huge opportunity for shared information and bonding on a level never imagined years ago.. I can't wait to see in a few years how things change even more

Updates to come later tonight when the lights turn out. Sorry for not updating as frequently as normal, but the veg process is sort of boring so I don't usually update as often as when I am in flowering...LOL

Still waiting on some of my clones to root, and then we will get into the start of my seed project coming very soon (the one I have put off for almost 2 years )

Update time!!!

So we are still in veg which is why I haven't been updating as frequently as this is the more boring part of the growing process. I am very happy to announce all of my leaf discoloration issues on all 8 plants has successfully been addressed and now all the plants are healthy and happy I basically just made sure to check and adjust if needed my feedings for the past few weeks as well as made sure to water only when the plants were getting just slightly wilty. This worked note to self, always check ph before watering, adjust with potassium silicate or hydrolyzed fish for up and down, and only water when plants need it, not when I think they need it...LOL

So the clones are all coming along and still waiting on some of them to root. I ditched some of the clones that were not rooting and took new cuttings of the black diamond og, tangie 3, tangie 6 and ogiesel so just waiting for 2 of each to root and then we are ready for the seed project

Other than that I will be flipping the current COB tent in the next few days to flowering, as the plants are getting pretty tall and height may become an issue, however I have also considered topping them 1 more time to lower the height (especially the towering fire og) and then flipping a week later. we will see soon though

Looking great in there, color and leaf size are spot on. Looks like your left back corner has an outlier or fast grower. Very healthy in there as well you can tell you tent is dialed in nicely.
