Smoke Report: Ogiesel


Initial Impression:

Ogiesel is one of my favorite strains that I have on hand, and I have kept this strain going for at least 2 years. I usually use it as a gauge to tell my grow success and even though its never been a high yielding strain, the high and indica dominance of it is incredible. I usually call this strain my "night night" or "sleepytime" strain. There has been many occasions when I have smoked this strain, a few hits later and 4 hours later I wake up next to my bowl that is still half packed... LOL.


The smell:

Well this strain is definitely one of those that you smell, no matter what. Its extremely pungent and strong and even a small bud that is broken up or grinded will fill the room with a skunky OG smell. This run of Ogiesel proved to be the best smelling run I have done to date, and the smell of minty, skunky kush fills the room.

The inhale:

This strain is not for the faint of heart, or anyone wanting to get things done. Upon the first inhale you taste a very smooth hit with little throat burn but definitely the smoke expands when it is held in the lungs. not to the point of discomfort, but definitely a large hit would leave you coughing and gasping for air. Immediately upon inhale you taste a very minty, skunky, kush flavor that overwhelms the tastebuds and sits in the mouth for a while after smoking. One of those strains where the exhale fills the air with pungent smelling smoke and definitely nothing discreet about this strain.


The Effect:

Immediately after inhaling you feel yourself sink back in the chair or couch you are sitting on as the high engulfs you. The thought process is very clear and the high is very clean, but it just demotivates you completely and about an hour later after smoking this one you will feel really tired where all you want to do is close your eyes for a while. I smoked this one and literally passed out for a nice 4 hour mid day nap. Not intended, but I guess my body just needed it or the Ogiesel told me to...LOL

This is a very very strong indica strain and definitely a full couchlock feeling.

Here are my total weights for all of my grows and G/w
Grow 1: 1000w HID (400w CMH + 600w HPS) Total yield 574g or .57 grams/watt
Grow 2: 1000w HID (400w CMH + 600w HPS) Total yield 547g or .55 grams/watt
Grow 3: 1000w HID (400w CMH + 600w HPS) No Yield Data (Powder Mildew took over)
Grow 4: 1000w HID (400w CMH + 600w HPS) Total yield 325g or .33 grams/watt
Grow 5: 580w (400w CMH + Mars II 400w) Total yield 245g or .42 grams/watt
Grow 6: 540w LED (3x Mars II 400/180w models) Total yield 308g or .57 grams/watt
Grow 7:>300w LED (2x Intelligent Gro, GEN1, 180w each on dimmer) Total yield 191g or .63 grams/watt
Grow 8: 540W LED (3x Intelligent Gro, GEN2, 180w draw each) Total yield 367g or .70 grams/watt
Grow 9: 494W LED (2x Advanced LED XTE300, 247w draw each), Total yield 391.4g or .79grams/watt
Grow 10: 750W LED (3x Advanced LED XTE300, 247w draw each, Total yield 475.1g or .63G/Watt
Grow 11 (2x Advanced LED first 30 days of flowering (247w each), 2x Budmaster COB-x-4 at 400w total) Total yield 327.7g or .81g/watt @ 400w, .65g/watt @500w)
Current Grow, 340W (2x Budmaster GOD-4, 170w draw each), Total yield 228g or .67 Grams/watt.



So overall the Grams per watt seems to be towards the higher side of my LED grows, but my yield was way down this run. Now this I believe is due to a couple things...
-I had an overwatering issue in mid flowering which seemed to stall out the plants
-The plants had gotten way too tall, and required constant adjusting and supercropping and overall got much too close to the lights, which caused shading of some of the plants inbetween the lights, as well as the lower canopy.

Now I know that Grams per watt is only really a guage of my rate of success in my personal grow, however even between grows things change such as nutrients used somewhat, watering frequencies, temp and humidity...etc... so I only use gram/watt in sort of a broad range aspect, of how decent overall the effiencie of my grow space is, and not an indicator of a lights performance since every grower is different...


Now on the plus side, even though the weight was low and the gram/watt was mid-high range of what I normally get, the one thing that really stands out with the GOD grow is that the buds were unbelievably fragrant. The Ogiesel which I sort of use to guage the sucess of the grow and have run it probably on 5 different grows under different lights is a pretty key indicator. This grow under the GOD panels took the Ogiesel to a whole new height, I mean it was like a new strain to me the way it tasted when I packed a bowl. Just utter skunky and the sour diesel came out very strong along with the og, just complete mouth watering dank smelling and tasting. The best flavor and overall quality of my ogiesel to date :) very pleased.

As far as the other strains, the same is true, and all came out extremely fragrant and potent smelling and loaded with trichomes. :) I will snap some photos of the individual strains later but I'm tired after a long day of working on my garden and apartment, time to relax after this post :)

I definitely am happy with the budmaster GOD's and with 340w total draw I wasn't expecting much as far as yield which proved true, however the quality of the buds was I would honestly say the best I have grown yet.. they are absolutely mouth watering :)

Hi Icemud! Considering all the facts of your grow, I think you did a bang up job. So much great information, it's easy to see why light vendors seek you out.

My last grow I cropped .56 grams per watt and that was the best I've ever done lol. It doesn't matter when the quality is so superb to HID/HPS. Your determination stands behind what I've believed since my first LED grow, quality of terps (tastes), scent (smells) and smokeability (smoothness) is far superior with LEDs.

Hey LA! was that intended "red with envy" as forshadowing to the reveal ;) haha. Yea I'm super stoked to be testing those new things too... I have to say with all the innovations and ideas Paul at Budmaster is working on, they really do an amazing job with their products and by the looks of it many exciting new things in the future for them too :)

Thanks for the compliments, and you are right, with the grow having the best flavor so far out of any of my grows, the GOD lights really did their part, and I did as well :) I definitely see a trend with LED as well, and definitely they boost the flavor/terps quite a bit. I saw a side by side grow a while back on Utube, and they did a 600w LED vs a 1000w HPS and the yields were almost near the same, but the LED buds had about 3% more cannabinoids as well as they did a lab test for terps and the LED definitely had more terps, as well as brought out ones that weren't even there on the HPS side :) Really love LED growing :)

I agree, yield is one of my least concerns as quality, flavor, effect and scent are also my key things that I like :) I would much rather have 1 oz of that "amazing" than 2 or 3 oz of mediocre :)

Thanks for the compliments on the smoke reports and harvest :) more to come... unfortunately I have 2 sativa's left and not sure if I dare smoke them in the evenings or I will be up all night...haha so the other 2 smoke reports may have to wait until friday :) but we will see :) I may not be able to wait..haha :)

I almost forgot the #2 reason I love LED. Safety! I seriously have never given a second thought about leaving for the weekend or even up to a week at times. When an LED fails, it just quits working, or with newer tech like Budmaster, one panel fails. I've seen a few HID grows in the paper here that caused fires. The illegal ones were prosecuted. Not trying to scare anyone, just saying. It's a low heat lower risk scenario with LED. :circle-of-love:

That's a great point. My bare bulb gets hot fast. But $72 got a nice hi temp cutoff swtich. If my tent ever sees 90°F lights out. I was worried about my extraction fans failing while I sleep.

This is a huge "sell point" for me too with LED. I was in a company a few years ago that I was traveling a lot as well as taking family vacations and every time I left home with my HID setup going, I couldn't help but picture the worst and a fire breaking out. Being that I live in a 10 unit apartment building I always was worried from the time I left until the time I got back usually a few days to a week later. Once I dumped the HID's and went LED the fear of a fire disappeared and now I can travel safely without worry. Great point Dr. Cannabi!

Here in Cali, about 1x per month on the news there will be a fire in a grow room somewhere in the area. Even though the cause is never explained in most cases, I can almost guess that it had to do with either faulty wiring or HID ballasts and bulbs :)
