Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spectrum

Re: Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spect

I used to do the tent thing but my electric bill got way out of hand for my budget so....just had to scale way down. BID was pretty small too, but had a couple small tents with 600w lights. I think his mom helped with the electric bill though. I miss being able to afford really good lighting so the sun has to be my light source after getting them started under T5 and large CFLs. I am still waiting for my kids to declare...patience. :cheesygrinsmiley:
Looking good in there ICE! :slide:

Hey SonicDlf!

Thanks for the compliments!!! I think 4 of the GODs would do amazing in a 4x4, given you have at least 14-18" of vertical height between the canopy and the lights. The COB panels are awesome too, I would suggest getting 2 of each, and then swapping out the modules so you have combo panels (1/2 cob, 1/2 god) which would give you best of both worlds. That is the next adventure I plan on after these current grows are up :)

Hi Ice , at the moment i am running 2000w or 1000w at the wall i think .
My plants are looking good i think but i am pondering the next step , i am getting another tent soon and would like to find some better quality lights that could lower my watts at the wall with at least the some amount off growth , i would prefer more light if possible .
when i am set up with new tent and light i will do a side by side with the lights i have now and new one's .
this is a hobby that i wish to push to produce great bud .
Be safe .

How much of an investment would that be? Can't argue with your results though.

Cheers

Here is the website for details...

The GODs are $1078 each, and the cobs are $697 each. So total would be around $3400 or so... (for 2x COB-4 and 2x GOD-4)

Co2 fermentation jugs ah i remember some thing about this some years ago !

I think it is some form of yeast, sugar & water = co2

What is your recipe, measurements & how long does it last Ice ?

Re: Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spect

Yep, I'm so happy that the plant health on the older plants is coming back, I've been giving them pretty much just water and epsom salts as the deficiency is Mg I'm almost certain on, and so I was reading that I think I may have locked out the mg due to excessive calcium, which is in both humbolt equillibrium and bloom which I have been using for both. So I may have to limit it to one or the other per feeding to prevent this from now on. I'm going to now hit them all with 2 round of compost tea and we will see how they do :)

The flowering tent is definitely doing well, I'm impressed. I can't wait to be done with this grow so I can finally taste the fire og and black diamond og which I have had for a while in veg, but never flowered :) Also will be happy to select which tangie pheno I will keep out of the 4 which will open up room for either new strains or to start my seed project. :) I'm debating whether to put back up my 3rd tent or not to get it going, but I'm also loving the extra room it gives me in my place...lol

Ye interesting comment about Mg lock out caused by Ca & not really worked out how much Ca is needed to lock out Mg but i would not point my finger at nutrients used just yet !

As other areas of concern may be addressed which i may ponder over amendments used which some appear Ca rich & a few of them !

Soil or Hydro?
Soil.... recycled and reused soil.

If soil... what is in your mix?
I am using a recycled soil which is re amended every time a cycle is finished and dumped into my soil bin to cook until needed. Most of this soil is probably 2 years old or more. The basic ingredients/additives are below

The Base Soil Mix:

ProMix HP
Worm Castings
Volcanic Pumice
Alaskan Forest Humus

The Amendments:
Azomite (trace minerals and micronutrients)
Calcium Carbonate Powder 97%
Soft Rock Phosphate (Collidal Clay with high phosphorus and CEC value)
Gypsum (Calcium Sulfate)
Crab Shell Meal 2-3-0 23% calcium(also a P source and source of chitin a hormone/growth regulator)
Fish Bone meal. (3-18-0) 24% Calcium
Lava Sand (adds trace minerals and supposedly adds paramagnetic value to the soil)
Kelp Meal (also has growth hormones and PGR's, plus trace minerals)
Alfalfa Meal. (2-0-3) (contains Trichontinol which aids in plant growth and health)
Powdered Humic Acid (Adds Carbons to the soil as well as trace minerals and aids in chelation of minerals)
Humboldt Myco's Maximum (Beneficial Bacteria and Mycorrizae Fungus)
Epsom Salts (Magnesium Sulfate)
Greensand (0-0-3) (Trace Minerals)
Dry Molasses (1-0-3) (Energy for the Microbes)

Now some of those amendments are rock dust's & take quite some time to break down like several years plus if not more !

But not sure on how you re amend per cycle/grow or what is used ?

If adding more high Ca rock dust or others per re amend might be an issue causing Mg lock out...

It is just some think i felt & i needed to point out for observation or thinking about :peace:

Re: Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spect

Calcium buildup also raises pH, making other nutrients less available.

And then there are the mineral salt byproducts, which we can't get rid of without regular flushing.

So many of us "invest' in all the fun hardware, etc, but I'd really like a professional soil testing kit. :cheesygrinsmiley: I've priced 'em and they run up around $1000. That's an idea for a fun side business, Ice - test soil for local growers. :slide:

well I don't really measure but I take a 2 gallon milk jug, fill it about 3/4 with tap water, add sugar (probably about 1 cup each jug) and use baking yeast that comes in packets and use a 1/2 packet per jug. Usually it takes about 2 days for the reaction to really start taking place but after that they seem to generate about 2 weeks of CO2. When I notice no more bubbles/froth on the top of the water I dump out about 4/5 of the water, then fill the jug back up, add sugar and back in business.

I also recommend changing out the jugs every cycle.... for some reason the yeast, or the alchohol it makes seems to react with the plastic on the jugs and over long periods of time I have found the jugs get weaker and eventually will leak, so I suggest not using the same jugs over the course of more than about 4 months, and replacing them with new every cycle.

For all you light lovers out there..... Apogee just released a new PAR meter, the MQ500. I looked at the accuracy and its much better than the MQ200 that I have, and rivals a Licor for about 1/2 the price... much better accuracy in blue and red areas which was the fault area of the MQ200. Nice piece of equipment :)

Very good point and I am pretty certain that the high levels of Ca is what may be causing the lock out of Mg. You are right, many of the amendments I use have calcium in them, fish bone meal, gypsum, calcium carbonate, crab shell meal so there is a very good chance that may be the cause. I've been adding epsom salts to every feeding and laying off the calcium and my plants are looking amazing again, so its working :) I've also actually been checking the PH of my feedings before giving them to the plants, and in case they need ajustment i use hydrolyzed fish to lower the readings (phosphoric acid) and use potassium silicate to raise the PH. Not sure if this also is contributing to the plant health, but they are looking good now and really growing fast :) I think we are on the right track :)

I appreciate all that have chimed in to help a brother out :) Thanks everyone!

I wish I had a soil tester, it would be interesting to know what my 2+ year old recycled soil tests at. Maybe one of these days I will bag some up and send it to "the lab" to see what it reads at. I have a feeling it would help me greatly to increase the effectiveness of amendments and future success.

Maybe I will after I get a new job and have some funds available. Having a testing center would be awesome. I wonder if any of the local goverment facilities test or even if there are any local testing facilities. will have to check it out.

Re: Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spect

Many State Universities will have soil testing services for agricultural outreach. The right test is the strong-acid test which typically runs around $80. I priced the equipment and ingredients for that, and the price isn't out of line, maybe 2-3 times cost. I vaguely remember the cost of a basic kit with supplies for around $300? :hmmmm:

It wasn't terrible. I've been having a great time lately, designing a 41-COB ceiling o' light, using Vero13s at 22 watts each. :slide: Only runs about $1500. :cheesygrinsmiley: Uh huh. Sure, I need to spend another $1500 on lighting. Pffft! I need to spend some time and money sealing and insulating my room first, and then things like a soil test kit would be a lot more useful that a bunch of new lights.

Heheh, and in your case too, the last thing you need is more lights!

Crazy, I'm using my nutes same way, pro tekt (K Potash) very alkaline, age old fish and seaweed is acidic. Here in Portland, bullrun water district has set PH of 8 to keep pipes from breaking down. My Fox Farms lq nutes are also acidic, my issue was off feeding water was to alkaline. Got it covered now but my grow had some PH casualties.

Cheers

GEEZE Graytail!! 41 COB!!!!! thats insane!!! and awesome!!! COBs are amazing! I'm really impressed with what they are capable of :) $1500 though is not bad for a huge 41 COB panel when compared to other options, can't wait to see that beast !!!

LOL yea I have so many lights, but recently I have been selling some of my old one that I never plan on using anymore (marsii and igro) to make room and also supplement my income for now. There has been some lucky CList people out there getting the hook up.. LOL :)

Yea Its been years since I've checked my PH levels in my feedings but since my issue on this grow with the veg tent i've started for the past 3 waterings taking measurements and so I figured instead of using salt based ph up/down I would just use either the acidic fish, or the high ph potassium :) works like a charm :)

Re: Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spect

Hey Everyone!!! Update time!!!

The Budmaster COB Tent: VEG

So I am really pleased to see all the plant bouncing back after their lockout/ph issues and not all the plants are showing nice new healthy growth. I think they still need some recovery to be back to 100% full health so I'm going to be checking PH of feedings for the next few feedings as well as giving them a nice full nutrient drench of earthjuice in a couple days to make sure they have everything they need. I've layed off anything with calcium in my nutrients for the next few feedings but have added epsom salts to the mix to prevent the interveinal chlorosis they still are showing. Its getting better!! but still not 100% yet... I'm happy with how things are going otherwise and the plants really have kicked up their fragarence lately :) nice!!!

Re: Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spect

I'm quite a firm believer that the correct PH of soil is the main factor of making nutrients available & more so with organic methods.

But i don't PH correct these days once i had observed the self buffering nature of soil/compost which general returns to its ambient levels with in 24 hours after feeding/watering to which i may include when i had used organic biobizz nutrients & the more salt based stuff by Hesi which i'm currently using for soil.

Now i am aware of build ups of some stuff...

Salt based nutrients & mainly so in mid to late flowering when an increase of nutrients are used may effect soil PH leading to a more acidic state this would largely depend on how much you feed tho or how many times per week.

Hard water or alkaline would suggest contents of Ca & Mg which it is derived from bed rock or type to how it is sourced but Ca is largely though as insoluble so build up can occur from long term use of hard water or other sources as an example.

Just for fun & reading...

The flowering Tent:
Day 48 Flowering!!!
Today is day 48 since the flip, and the plants continue to get more and more trichomes and are starting to get fatter and more dense but still have a while to go :) I'm probabaly about 3 weeks from harvest but could be longer and the plants are looking pretty good. I haven't fed them much the last couple days as I gave them a good soil drench about 3 days ago to just give some clean water and compost tea to the soil, and the plants seemed to love it. So most likely tomorrow they will need another feeding which will be the earth juice tea I have prepared.

Not too much else to report on this grow currently so here are some photos :)
