Re: Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spect
Ye been awhile so i best pop in for a nosey.
GOD looks amazing with health 'n' frost, COB ah those girls must be around 10 weeks at best from last count roughly ??? but i'm pleased to see the def thing looks to be reasonable tame & more likely would of agreed with Mg perhaps a ph issue or lack of nutrients or may be that just ol leds may create Ca / Mg issues, who knows ?
I don't PH correct nutrients & never have done !
I'm firm believer that the soil PH value is the most single important value to under stand some where between PH 6 & 7 should be just fine for most macro nutrients to work & that micro nutrients are often a chelated form not sure about organic nutrients tho ? which make em work over a wider range of PH.
Organic & chelated, i'm not sure if that works to organic standards ? as it appears some bonding of what ever perhaps a chemical process to make micro nutrients available over a larger range is at play ?
Yes i use to use organic bottled stuff but know use the more chemical salt based nutrients, i don't or never PH correct either of em ! doing just fine even tho i have checked tap water which holds an average PH of 6.5 & 500 ppm for around a few years of soil growing.
Also i'm aware the soil is self buffering by nature & general returns to ambient levels with in 24 hours after feeding /watering !
Just going to point this out, PH up or down are acids in the acidic or alkaline range which can come in different % strengths & that most nutrients are acidic in nature, we are also looking at PH range of water used to what we use.
Knowing that PH up/down has more likely got a PH value & i'm pretty sure most peeps calibrate their PH pen in PH solution once in awhile will click on to this... but do these PH up/downs sit in the soil altering PH over time & that is the question !
Hey Fuzzy Duck!
Thanks for the good info and vibes
I haven't tested PH in a long time either, and just learned to trust my soil and roots will work it out which for the most part has worked for me. I think with the veg tent, I may have overwatered, which caused the PH to fluctuate, causing the issues. Since I let the soil dry out completely and then flushed them with plain water and Mg, things have really improved. I will be giving them a good compost tea on the next feeding to get that soil active again and should see them thrive
All of the plants now show nice healthy new growth so I think I may be in the clear
I probably should check the PH here and there, but so far haven't needed to since probably my 1st or 2nd grow. I just kind of learned how long to bubble certain nutrients and run with it..LOL
I have been dabbling with a little bit of salt based/synthetic nutrients here and there. I do add potassium silicate which is synthetic, and from time to time also add some madd farmer bloom booster, but use them in about 1/4 strength so they don't harm my microbes
I've been wanting to try a full synthetic grow just to see how it would turn out in my soil, but I gave away all my monthly prize winnings that were not organic so I would have to buy some now...
Wow... your tap water is 500ppm! holy toledo! I though mine was high here in Socal around 350-400ppm. I went out and bought a Reverse osmosis system which takes my 8.4PH, 400ppm water and turns it into 0ppm, 7PH water... I also use it for drinking water and wow it tastes so good
I mainly didn't like how my water has a lot added to it including chlorine, chloramines, and also some other chemical to prevent the water from stripping arsenic when its pumped back into the aquifer. I got 2 carbon block filters inline too to remove all the chemicals and VOC's.
I appreciate your post
What differences do you notice going from soil and organics to synthetic? pros cons?
