Re: Icemud Goes LED: Featuring Top LED Grow: Cherry Pie - GSC - OGiesel - SFV OG - UV
Yeah when I was talking about the heat reduction "selling point" of LED I was comparing it to my Air Cooled HID lights, (not a open wing reflector).
I definitely am saving a ton of $$ in electric bills though after I switched to LED, and my nugs are much more frosty.
I think that the Mars II 80x5w is a very close comparison to a 400w CMH bulb in terms of brightness. I still think a CMH has a slightly superior spectrum in terms of PAR, but for the cost of running 1x 400w CMH, I can run 3x mars II lights much brigher
Hey Ice,I recall there was some discussion on heat with LED.I was using 400w magnetic balast, with balast monted in grow area also.My grow area is close to yours.I replaced this with 2 80x5 leds and there is still less heat than the magnetic 400.I also used an open wing reflector. These leds are also using less electric and I am also able to cover the entire area instead of just the foot print of the 400.Just some info for those with out cool tubes. Also with your experience with these lights, what would you say the 2 80x5's are comparable to in HPS.Grow looks great and thanks for all the detailed info.
