Hey LKV - yes we all bought probe meters too, finally figured out how to repurpose - they are best used by the grill as double hot dog or marshmallow roaster :p I think what I noticed from the start is the terra cotta pot was long and cylindrical or in 80‘s vernacular - tubular dude. Think the root mass was not sufficient enough in that shape to protect itself from the heat since the pot was long and narrow. Anywho my 2 cents but you are in great hands with VG, Shed and this whole cast of 420 brain trust characters
Y’all are awesome I’m learning a ton on my first grow from ya and I really appreciate your help and patience with me

THANKS Y'ALL! I just watched this interesting vid on watering small doses of water frequently! Thoughts?
He doesn't seem to be giving any solid information, just basically that his way will work in a very small set of circumstances. He seems to be advocating a lot of guesswork on the users part. I guess if you have exactly his circumstances, it works. Otherwise, I would recommend @Emilya's How to Water a Potted Plant for the why's of how it imo *should* be done.

He explains why he does it and why it should work better. He isn't adding huge amounts at a time. He's just keeping the soil consistently moist so the microherd can flourish.
I see folks using watering systems that run for one minute once or twice a day and the roots are amazing. It does take some know how.
There is certainly more than one way to water a cannabis plant.
Imo ...the agronomist may know a thing or two.

If you want to experiment that's cool. I would just maybe start with a single plant and go from there. Not risk your entire crop on a new method.

watched Emily's post, she grows indoors, maybe a bit diff for outdoor? Thank for sharing that!

I have a good sized garden with all kinds of potted plants. I have some (not cannibis) that are connected to my drip system ( running 6 mins a day ) have incredible root systems!

I take forever to water mine.
It may have something to do with smoking constantly while doing it.
I give a half gallon to each plant and then smoke, repeat until my mix is fully saturated and I have run off.
If I go too fast I make mistakes. So I've learned to slow down and be more mindful.
I grow only indoors and run a smaller three tent op. I seldom have more than a dozen plants in their various stages of growth.

I grow outdoors and water my plants with enough water for it to come out of the bottom of my cloth pots, every time I water. It takes me 1 minute to water a plant, and my 7 gallon pots get 2 gallons each when the plants are full-sized.
you're pretty speedy, but I'll bet those cloth pots dry out fairly quickly, no? About how often are you watering them?

I'm going insane fingering though my plant leaves daily looking for and white pistols to emerge. It is July 21st after all !!! Should be about time for my photos to start showing off. I just watched a good video on what to look for, This guy goes through stages of what your plant looks like just before and after it flowers: youtu.be/InQwSYeQCwY
He says right as it's going in to pre flowering, It has a growth spurt that makes it shoot up it's stems making room for the buds with big long growth spurt. ..sorry but this red rocket sock em robot is was what comes to mind.... any day now for white pistols, please oh please, I cant stand it❤️

In full flower they need water every other day. And I find that watering frequency is much more about the amount of root mass than the type of pot.

If I water a 7 gallon cloth pot with no plant in it, it could take a week or more to dry out!

Plants use water a lot faster than it evaporates through the cloth or off the surface.
so yours are probably just beginning to preflower unless they are auto's? How often are you watering at the beginning of pre flower ( yes i understand "is much more about the amount of root mass")

I don't flip my plants outside any more. I move them in for 12 hours of darkness when I'm ready to send them into flower, and then back out in the mornings for their 12 hours of daylight. At your stage of flowering I'd say mine would be needing water every 3-4 days or so depending on the temperatures and the plant-vs.-pot size.

Mine are currently 58 days post flip, and one of them will be coming down in the next week or so.
