Saturday in the park...you'd think it was the Fourth of July...
Just listening to some old Chicago and thinking about Summer. It's 23 degrees F. Just gettin' high and dreaming about warmth...but since it's Saturday, here's the next
PROJECT 28 REPORT!
At least it's Summer inside the secret attic grow lab...72 degrees and sunny!
It's been almost 36 hours since I flipped the grow to 12/12...and still no flowers. Patience is not my strong suit.
Overall, the right side is noticeably taller than the left, even though the left started six inches higher at the start...plus, the lighting is better on the left so what gives?
In the beginning, I selected eight large and four small seeds from the 50-odd I had. I wanted to maybe see some correlation between seed size and plant size. Obviously it isn't definitive science but it's interesting to try to observe something since this is the first grow I have ever done using all plants of the same variety. I put the smalls in the front buckets. The middle one never germinated, and the one on the right front is a beast. The two in the front left are smaller, there's no doubt it's a slight variant. Both small seeds.
BUT, the one in the back-left is ALSO lower and wider...obviously the same variant as the front two...yet came from a big seed. So the conclusion is...not conclusive.
So now I'm wondering if I should isolate the taller-varietal seeds from the shorter-varietal seeds...or accept some pheno differences if the plants all perform similarly in final bud quality and quantity. leaning towards B since I think almost all seeds you buy contain different phenos, it's kind of just Nature's way, you know? If these plants all perform like I think they will nobody will care that some grow a little taller than others. These variences are certainly no problem in my grow which I think is fairly representative of small home grows. It might be a good thing for grows like mine where you can move plants around, stack things most effectively for your lighting, who knows..
I just took a moment...it's like a field of dreams...
Okay a tiny field, but five minutes in there made me feel transported back to June as closed my eyes and inhaled the fragrant canna-scented air, my two remaining hairs blowing in the gentle breeze. It's soooo cool, I literally step from a 30 degree attic into paradise. Only the strength of two Hyenas keeps me from grabbing the latest issue of Cigar Aficianado, a six-pack and a lounger and spending all weekend in here.
Regarding the target reversal plant, I am considering one more spray-down of the Queen as a security measure, maybe Monday. I'm not doing it daily because I really want to see if limited, thorough application is sufficient to produce the result, as I have a suspicion that a lot of failures may be related to over-application...but I think one more spray will be a fair compromise.
She looks just peachy with no noticeable effects from the drenching:
So we now wait.
It's this time in early Winter when I have to watch my consumption, not just of weed, but food, drinking, sweets...all that stuff. The next four weeks there's nothing but opportunity to get fat and I'm already fat enough. And weed definitely makes me think it's a good decision to eat almost anything.
So I have to rein it in through New Years...
Might do it.
Peace, Hyena
