Horse's Crawlspace Grow

Re: Horse's Crawlspace Grow.

Man - glad I found this one. Great stuff. I love the atmosphere, and clearly you and your wife have skills. It's almost a forgone conclusion we're gonna get to see some fat buds. I see you've almost got the bomb shelter built.

Fun thread - subscribed.

:peace::nicethread:

P.S. - Flush the Cat! That would make a great t-shirt and slogan for a cool dispensary.

Re: Horse's Crawlspace Grow.

Glad you crawled in Papa. You've become another one of my mentors here:thankyou:

I'm toying with doing a hempy clothesline SCRoG, but I'm a skeerit 7 plants in a 4x4x 4.75 tent might be pushing it. From the looks of mom, I might have some wanderers. What do you think?

Sorry its taken a while to make it. I appreciated all the tips in the sub, but have not been as social as I'd like.

I too was thinking of a hempy scrog! Great idea and setup for your situation. The only thing that can get scary with a scrog is you can't check the roots, so I would make sure you use a system you're comfortable with as far as watering.

I think you'd be fine! Square footage you'll be fine.

I use about 1.5 ' between plants as a loose guideline. With your situation it will be important to keep the scrog in control until you are SURE they are done stretching. You won't have the luxury of raising the light. So a few open squares here or there will not be a bad thing, although I have a feeling you will fill it. Keep the tops close to the screen and you'll have a monster.

I did a pretty good summary at the end of my completed journal in my sig of a scrog that was 2x4x5' - yielded 3/4lb. Up to you if you wanna fight your way through the whole journal, but the summary at the end is pretty good.

Basically my philosophy on scrogging is that you can't go wrong. No matter how you use the screen to train the plants, I can almost guarantee it will increase your yield. The finesse stuff requires a learning curve to make it look all neat and pretty - which as you can tell from my scrogs is always the first thing to go - but I think any scrog will help yield.

Re: Horse's Crawlspace Grow.

I have to do neat and pretty all day long... I like wild gardening<G>

I value your input/experience. I'm not trying to reinvent any wheels, I just wanna grow some danged pot!

I know, I know, just drill a hole in it!

So, SCRoGgin' in perlite. Probably have to solidly tie the plants at least 3 ways to start out, huh? Or, start scroggin them early, while they're tender young things? These chicks are pretty pliable right now... it only takes a couple of drinks, ha.

The hempy stuff is an old technique I've not used in twenty years. But you only have to look at DocBud's journal to know it still works like a champ!

Yeah, there are two basic ways - either grow them in the scrog, or put the scrog over bent plants. Unless you are planning to move the plants from a Veg room to a Flower room - I'd veg in the scrog.

I know I already sent you to one of my threads - here's a better overall summary I did, with pics and diagrams and techniques.

EDIT: Looks like a link to my journal - but will take you to the specific post.

Re: Horse's Crawlspace Grow.

PG, I've lurked through all your threads:thankyou:

I'm still trying to finalize the flower tent, so I probably can't scrog 'em til I get that straight.

Gotta go make some moola to pay for this hobby, later.

Re: Horse's Crawlspace Grow.

Scrogging is really pretty intuitive I think. As you said - this growing pot thing is really pretty easy. I predict nothing but the best. I guess my last pre-game pep-talk would be to go denser than you think possible. You really can literally end up with a solid layer of buds across the whole screen.

When I did my first scrog, I thought I had things pretty tight. I got 18oz from 18 sq feet. My last one was about 3 times as dense - wouldn't have thought it possible. Got 14oz from less than 8 sq feet and half the light.

And as far as when to move them or how to get them under the screen - same advice - just go for it. I use no Silica and minimal wind directly on the plants in veg. Keeps their stems flexible. And a little extra stretch is not a terrible thing. Then its all about patience and moving slowly while doing the initial placement.

I don't mean to chat your ear off - I'm excited about your grow.

And, thanks I :welcome: any and all encouragement. You guys have shown me the light(s). I've been out of action for too long. :thankyou:

I just read what Irishboy is gonna try. Dang, my mind is a terrible thing wasted!
