Homer's Legal 4-Plant Max Perpetual Minimalist Garden In Ontario

Homer...Dope Seeds are a sponsor here. I won some seeds from them, I think the same month you did. Two fem strains are on my short list to grow out...Kalishnikov and Skunk.

Kalishnikov and Skunk are on my long list so I look forward to your results.

One thing I never anticipated from my clever idea to put my blurple between my floor joists was how severely I was restricting the airflow to the heat sinks on the LEDs and how much the thing would heat up. I don't think I was in any danger of burning my house down fortunately but I don't think my LEDs will last long at that considerably higher temperature. D'oh!

So I resigned myself to the fact I have to super crop my Chemdawg plant. I did that and stuck it under my MegaLight with the Amnesia plant that is at eight weeks and one day I believe.

Here is a close-up of Amnesia. Pretty happy with her all around.

My leaves look a little rough in the photo above, not because of a nute problem but because this plant is so tall I got some leaf burn so I dropped the wattage down from 200 to about 175 W.

Now that I am budding two plants with my big light it would be really great if I can get more distance between it and my plants since they are so tall. As you can see in this photo I can't raise the light anymore because the shrouding they have covering the transformer is too wide to go between my floor joists.

I think I will remove it and that way I could raise it so the LEDs are right against the floor joists. That would give me 3 inches and my plants are on trays that take an additional almost 4 inches so I think I will make adjustments to claim that distance so I can raise my light to better accommodate these two plants almost 7 inches.

Always something to modify in the garden I find which is just fine during the shut down because with that and my brewing I am keeping pretty busy.

Not yet, I just took several cuttings tonight just in case.
That is exactly what I was thinking. I can't believe it but those three cuttings that I left with the dome cracked just a bit overnight by mistake have not recovered from it fully. The one that is a week older is still alive so I'm hoping it's going to eventually root but I don't have much confidence in the other three so I was thinking tomorrow I will probably get rid of one or two of them and take fresh cuttings for insurance too.

The older cuttings still have green on top so I’ll let them go until they root or they fall over dead. I didn’t think the original simply Irresistable would make it but then I seen a tiny bit of new green on top. Took awhile but 3 of 4 made it.

Green on top is a good sign and when I see new green they seem to usually make it and three out of four is pretty good because at this point I am hoping for one out of about eight now. Sounds like you're doing pretty good.

Actually, that Amnesia plant looks like it is going to take so long to mature it looks like losing a few crops of cuttings isn't going to make that big of a gap in the cycle as long as I get one to root in the next weeks.

Always take more cuts than you can use
I took your advice today.

In the photo below the plant on the left is the one I took about a few weeks ago and ran it through that system that didn't work. Still, no roots showing but the way it is yellowing so severely I gave it a few millilitres of water with 2.5 g per gallon MC because I'm just afraid it's going to die if I don't give it some nutrients it's getting so yellow.

The one in the middle is one of the three that I accidentally left in the dome with it crack open so the three of them dried out. This is the only one that looks like it might make it so I culled the other two today and the one on the right is one I took today. So I have three cuttings all taken about a week apart.

I also put my budding plants on different trays to gain a few inches but unfortunately jostling them about caused my Amnesia plant to have a structural collapse. I hate moving them when they have that many big buds.

Good luck on the clones, don’t you hate it when plants fall over from the weight of their buds.
Thanks.

I guess there are worse problems to have, LOL.

First world problems for sure.
I have to fix it because it’s not getting much light now because it’s sharing the MegaLight with the Chemdawg so I can’t lower it.

Usually I just had to tighten the strings a little bit I wrap around the perimeter early in bloom and then I can hold it upright with my stakes as it starts falling over but I got the bright idea this time of giving each of my eight mains a wrap with the string so it wouldn’t fall down but that makes it really hard to tighten the bunch now. Live and learn.

I think in future I will just wrap it around a stock near where I tie it and one 180° across. Tomorrow I’ll have to lay this one down and re-rig the string and get her propped up properly. Another good problem to have is it quite sticky and a pain to try to sort out. Every time I touch the thing my arm hair is sticky for hours. Really nice plant and happy with it besides this.

I think I am going to try with my next plant to leave the main stock much longer so I don’t have such long skinny legs.

Try a silica product to beef up the limbs.
I was actually mulling that over for quite a while if I should try silica for that reason but I wasn't sure it really helped and then the pandemic hit so I don't go out that much but yeah if you think it helps I'll definitely order some online and give it a try. Thanks. :thumb:

It works, I think potassium Silicate is what I was using.
I read a bit and this seems pretty popular so I ordered a quart. Should be a couple of weeks but looking forward to testing it out
