Homer's Legal 4-Plant Max Perpetual Minimalist Garden In Ontario

Plants love silica period, it’s one of the most common minerals on earth.
I know it's in sand so I don't doubt that. Criminal what they charge for the additive since it is so plentiful. :( :p

Yes, I am going to take more because I don't want to lose this pheno till I get some bud from it and know what I have. If it is as good a sedative as my NL I may try and make some S1's from it.

I have been really enjoying my GG and BB as daytime micro – ish day timers. Not only do I find Sativas hybrids stimulating and keep me active I don't completely lose my memory the way I do with Indicas so it's easier to accomplish things in the day. So I am looking forward to my Super Lemon Haze next that is almost all Sativa.
Good Day Homer, and Merry X-Mas, I have been busy had my nephew and an old friend staying at my place all summer to Mid Nov, they enjoyed the free weed. I dry sift my sugar leaves and after 5 grows I accumulated a small mason jar full of dry sift, I decarboxilated the full jar and add just a pencil point of this dry sift into my coffee daily, I am not a smoker (its too strong for me) I find this Micro Dosing is great for me. My strains have been mostly Indica and Hybrids. Helps me out daily in numerous ways, I will start a new jar for Sativa strains to see the difference, I like it when they say they have a clear mind and stimulation and motivation. I get some from what I have but think the Sativa is the way to go. Thanks

That seems to be the problem with my old system; keeping them inside the dome in the humidity and happy sometimes they never rooted. I’m hoping this drying out method changes that. Starting today I was supposed to crack open my dome so that the growing medium can start drying out while I spray the plants twice a day. It is supposed to take three days till the pods are completely dry.

I figure it’s pretty important to control the humidity in my dome during this phase so last night I threw in one of my little hygrometers. Good and moist in there when the thing is closed.

IMG_6988.JPG

Here they were this morning before I cracked open the dome a bit looking mostly pretty healthy. The two in the middle are the ones that were outside the dome originally and the one second from the right doesn’t look like it’s fully recovered but I only need one to survive.

The one on the far left being the biggest also looks like the healthiest and the article I’m going by says the bigger the better which is the opposite of what I have read elsewhere. Seems to me I keep reading little ones root faster but they don’t seem to agree in this article.

I made a little hook out of malleable baling wire so I can adjust the size of the opening in my container to control my humidity because the secret is to dry out the pods in three days without killing the plants in the meantime so I bet there’s a sweet spot there I hope to find with my hygrometer.

IMG_6990.JPG

After a few hours, it was down to 86%. And then a few hours later it was down to about 68% but the plants were showing quite a bit of stress, shall we say. After hearing Penny say they mail them for a week without any moisture I figure they can take it until the pod’s dry out.

It struck me these pods are never going to dry out sitting in these cups so I put the pods on top of them. I would have just removed them but I need to keep track of which had hormones added and which don’t. Next time I probably won’t use cups at all but I need to come up with something to put in the bottom of this thing to make it level. This container is really made to sit flat not tall like this.

IMG_6996.JPG

So I’m going to be babying these things for the next three days watching my humidity levels trying to keep the plants health-ish while the pod’s dry out timing it to three days ideally. I think if I can keep it around 85% humidity that would be best but that’s just a wild guess but my starting point.

Hope everyone’s week is going well.
Homer, could you please post a picture of your suitcase or Dome, I am sure it is minimalist and a good idea, I have not taken any clones yet, will try this with the Jack Herer strain next run, looking for idea's. Cheers

I was a journeyman molder making transmission parts for Ford and Chrysler
Oh, that sounds like it would be an interesting job. You certainly have had varied careers.

I worked a lot in big steel mills where all they did was pour about 30 tonnes slabs and then they would roll that into big roles mostly for the car industry. But I did work for about a year a fair bit in a smaller foundry where they made brake drums but of course that closed because they couldn't compete with Mexico. All I did there though was work on the conveyor systems mostly.

Merry Christmas Buddy.

Merry Xmas to you too BudShark. I have friends that would never have left if I gave them free weed. :D

Sounds like you have a pretty good system for collecting sift. I guess you don't use dry ice or anything?

I have also only tried Indicas and Hybrids; I want to try some pure Sativas but haven't gotten the opportunity to grow them yet even though I have the seeds. I find with a good Indica I pretty much lose my short-term memory but with Sativas I find I can think a lot clearer and keep my mind focused better so they are better for the day but personally I find if I stay straight during the day my evening Indica gives me a much better kick in the head.

Re: my dome there is a picture of it below as per request. I've had that thing for about 30 years because I used it for the same thing when I used to grow back in the day, pretty much unsuccessfully. If I put it on its side like that I can put pretty tall cuttings in it which I like because I have read recently the bigger the better.

Here is one I was thinking of buying but it's only seven a half inches tall but you may find it to your liking. It has a vent you can open and close to adjust humidity.

Good Day Homer, Thanks for the picture and reply. I think I have a few friends like that as well. Lol I have a very simple homemade sift screen, used dollar store tray and some contact cement, I believe its the most common size 120 lines per inch, I don't work it too hard and get a pretty good quality sift in no time at all, I just dry the leaves and then freeze them for a few days and run it a couple of timesm very simple and inexpensive. The jar will last me a very long time. Really like your posts on the cloning process, I have an aloe Vera plant, aspirins and honey at home I think these might help the rooting process, will give that a try before I go buy commercial rooting powder . I like your Humidity done, I will be looking around the local thrift stores for something I can use, there is no way I am paying more that 10 dollars for this, I am pretty tight, I agree about the room, more the merrier. Lol Your pictures are amazing and like your growing techniques, will be dropping in from time to time. Cheers

Thanks for the explanation about your sifting method; I admire your frugality. Good luck with the aloe vera, aspirin and Honey with your rooting endeavors. I have read about aspirin before but not the other two.

Here is my first generation Chemdawg that came directly from my original seed at four weeks and three days since flip.

IMG_6960.jpg

She is budding up nicely and is already fairly sticky and pungent. I would say at this point it just smells mostly pleasantly fruity.

IMG_6970.JPG

Here is my second generation Chemdawg which is the cutting from the first topping from the previous plant. She could be flipped any day with her size but I won't have a light ready for her in the bud room for a few weeks until the Amnesia plant is done. Hard to get the colour correction right when I have the blurp on the Bloom setting.

IMG_6951.jpg

After her total structural failure last week at 9 weeks since flip I have tied up the Amnesia plant with some stakes with tie-wraps. She may be looking pretty pathetic but she has a good crop of buds. From my test a few days ago it looks like she has a couple weeks to go. My silica additive won't be here for another 2 to 3 weeks and with this kind of collapse, I'm really looking forward to seeing what kind of difference it makes.

IMG_6973.JPG

Her buds are nice and sticky with the orangest hairs I have ever seen on a plant I have grown.

IMG_6978.JPG

Here are the Chemdawg cuttings that never seem to want to root. I'm going to try to nurse these three as long as I can hopefully one will take but after this, I have to move on. I can't keep trying to root cuttings that will never root. Besides, I have one of these Chemdawg plants budding and another one in veg ready to go so I will have a big supply of this stuff and once I test it out I will have a better idea if it is worth all the hassle of trying to clone or even reverse. I do have two seeds left after this.

If these clones die then I will start a Super Lemon Haze and another 1:20 CBD.

IMG_6964.JPG

This is the oldest one I think about three weeks old and it was getting so yellow I started giving it water with 2.5 g per gallon MC because it looked like it was going to die soon. I got the only successful clone from this plant using my old system so I am going to try that but it's not even worth talking about because it probably won't work either.

IMG_6953.JPG

So I'm not having much luck with the Chemdawg cloning but it's no catastrophe and everything's going along fine generally. Hope everyone is getting by okay. :ciao:

Looking super, I may reveg the Chem D if I can’t get a cutting rooted.
Thanks. Hmmmmm.... What is this reveg you speak of? How long has it been in bloom?

About 2 weeks, when harvest is done cut the plant back and put it under 24 light until it reverts back to the veg mode.
You have got to be kidding me? I don't doubt you I just find it absolutely astonishing that it will revert back to veg so late in life. I have never heard this before. This I gotta try.

It works it just takes time

I take your word for it I'm just pretty shocked because I haven't heard this before. I am definitely going to try it. Even if it takes quite a while having a root already establish gives a considerable head start so to me it seems to have advantages also, of course, you keep your strain going.

Here’s a GG4 reveg, notice the single blade leaves? It will eventual grow 3 blade leaves then 5. After that it’s ready to flower a second time.
Unfortunately, I don't see a photo?
