Homer's Legal 4-Plant Max Perpetual Minimalist Garden In Ontario

It helps some, and also when you let pot dry out it’s pulling in oxygen. That’s why fabric pots work so well
Interesting... I had heard fabric pots were good for oxygen but I didn't know letting it dry out was part of it but that makes sense because people say you should water a lot during flower but I find my plants are happiest when I let them dry out pretty good between waterings even when flowering.

You could try vermiculite and clone tray with inserts no dome. That's my tech I will be taking some clones in a few weeks I will post my procedure in my journal when I do it.
Thanks, oldsmokey. I would be interested to see your no dome system since I have no luck with that method. If you remember, please shoot me a link when you take your cuttings. The method I am testing now claims I should have lots of roots within 7 to 10 days and today's day four so soon I will know if this system works or not.

I should have posted the instructions for every day that I posted pictures of my cuttings but better late than never. At the bottom are day five instructions I am going by.

Today according to the instructions because the pod felt pretty dry I was supposed to add some water to the bottom so I put three-quarters of an ounce of just water in each lid and put one of the pods in each.

Drying them out was supposed to kick-start the roots and moistening the bottoms today is supposed to get the roots searching for water. I’m supposed to leave the lid closed but tomorrow they say I should see roots on half of them. After tomorrow when there are roots I’m supposed to close it up again and get it really humid because that stimulates root growth once they start.

I think realistically the big one on the left is the only one that has a chance of surviving. Oddly enough the two in the middle were the ones that got so dried out because I left them out for a day but the one on the right is the worst off. The two on the right received no rooting hormone and they seem the weakest so from this preliminary snapshot it kind of looks like big and with rooting hormone did the best like the instructions say so I give credit where do but whether it roots in the next couple days is a completely different story.

DAY 5

Keep vents on dome open and check to see if pellets are dry.

If the Rockwool or Peat Pellets are dry to the touch we will add half a liter (~2 cups) of water to the cloning tray itself which will fill the grooves in the bottom of the cloning tray.

Important: If you add water, add it to the cloning tray itself to fill in the grooves at the bottom of the tray. Do not add water to the tops of the pellets at this point, or roots will take longer to form!

The pellets will absorb the water from the bottom of the cloning tray. We want the roots to search for the moisture, and forcing them to move downwards to find water will force the plant to root more quickly.

How long have they been rooting so far?
I took them Monday. If there are roots showing tomorrow or the next day I will be pretty surprised. But that is what they say.

Ok give them time
Yes, slow and steady.

I don't think I should close the lid tomorrow like they say unless I see roots; they assume roots are going to appear but don't really say what to do if they don't but if I put this thing under maximum humidity and the roots haven't started they are just going to, as you said get stunted.

So until I see some roots I'm going to hold at this stage which is spraying them twice a day but leaving the dome cracked so the humidity is between 60% and 70% instead of 99% with it closed, I think the secret is to not make them too comfortable until I see roots. But who knows, I'm just guessing. I'm gonna do a little jig though if I do see any roots within the next two days.

I wouldn’t want 99% humidity with no roots. They’re getting their moisture through the leaves. No need for producing roots under those conditions
Glad you agree. :thumb:

Mine are still looking perky for now. Still waiting though.
In my last attempt with this strain, I waited five or six weeks, and when I took them out of the three-quarter quart containers not a hint of root. That's why I switched to the little pod's so I know a lot sooner what's going on or not.

My old system worked pretty reliably initially but I find some strains are just more difficult and Chemdawg seems to be one, at least for me.

Looking perky is a good sign! Impressive to me with no dome.

Chems aren’t the easiest to root or reverse they just take time.
These are third-generation so if I did it once I should be able to do it again. The first generation plant from the original seed is about two weeks into bloom and it is a really nice sturdy healthy shrubbery that I was able to grow to just about the right height with the way the stretch seems to be slowing down. Once I see it bud I will know how much I care about continuing to cloning this strain. Hopefully, it's a nice medication because it's a nice plant to grow so far though budding is the real test but if it is I was thinking of reversing it, LOL. I will definitely give it a go though!:headbanger:

Actually, I have the chemicals left over from what Old Salt sent me. Has anyone heard anything about him? I miss the guy.

I haven’t seen Old Salt in ages
The last I heard was a from a relative that sent me a message from his account long ago saying he wasn't feeling well so it sad not to hear from him again. I found him to be a gruff but kindhearted intelligent man. He was a good guy.
