Homer's Legal 4-Plant Max Perpetual Minimalist Garden In Ontario

Oh, I got the notice today, my seeds are through customs and I should get them by next Sat.

I have been looking into Canada’s “Micro Producer’s“ laws and will let you in on our countries “dirty little secret” concerning Cannabis genetics. ALL of the Standard Producers (the big guys like Tillray and Aurora), their genetics were all illegal at startup and these are the guys we are “supposed” to buy our seed and clones from.

When they wrote the laws for the Micro Producers, they put a clause in there to allow for what they refer to as “Grey Market” genetics. If you get approved for a craft license, you can grow whatever Grey Market genetics you have on hand the day you start production. In other words, if you have seed from 100 or 1000 different strains, this is what you are allowed to produce, and they have to be on site and accounted for when they do their initial inspection for license approval. This was, and is, something the Standard Producers were, and are, not given the option of.

The Canadian gov’t doesn’t want to block the importation of seed, “grey market genetics” for this reason.
Because of your mention about “Micro Producer“ I did little research and in Canada to be a regular producer is $23,000 for the license minimum but to be a “Micro Producer“ the fee is a pretty reasonable $2500. I retired with nothing to do and all I seem to want to do is grow my plants and photograph them so I might look into this. That would be awesome.

It almost seems like they are trying to encourage very much like a microbrewery industry. I have to give the government credit for leaving this door open to the little guy. But then again I haven't really researched it yet so my opinion could change. The devil is in the details.

The license is only $2500 but to get it, it’s all upfront costing with no guarantee that you will be approved. Legal fees alone will run $50k and up, then you have to have the building and gear ready to produce before they will even come inspect and give you a “yay or nay”

If you are starting with nothing, and need land, building and equipment, you better have around $500k sitting idle somewhere and not be concerned about going bust if you don’t get approved.

There is a reason I don’t have a craft license YET, but time will tell

Hmmmm... I figured something like the 500K number would apply if you were getting a standard cultivation license for $42K, not with the $2.5K “Micro Producer“ license.

I guess I was a little naïvely premature lauding the government for looking after the little guy; looks like they are just taking care of big money interests as per usual. That sucks.

I haven't heard much about it lately but there was a group of growers in British Columbia that were talking about starting a co-op for small growers so that they could afford it. But I haven't heard anything about it in sometime.
Hmmm... my experience is when you get a group of people there are always a few who are anything but co-operative and ruin things for everyone. But don't listen to an antisocial recluse like me. :Namaste:

To get the soil out of the pot the GG was in took a bit of effort because it was pretty full of roots. Was glad to see all that soil was put to good use because it seems like the whole pot was full of roots and not wasted being the first grow I went from 5 to 10 gallon.

10 gallon pots make a lot of roots
That they do! Now that I see the GG used all her 10 gallons of soil I moved my cutting from the yogurt container to a ten gallon for her too. She is a little limp because I watered her before the pic. Odd but for the life of me I can't remember what strain this is???

Hopefully you’ll remember before she’s done. Lol
Oh yea, its Amnesia... I don't know why I can't remember the name of that one strain? :p

I got an update for my seed delivery on the tracking site and it is expected now by Thurs. instead of the original Sat date. So I should be dropping my Chemdawg this week!!! :headbanger:

I am doing a major reorganizing in the rough end of the basement to get my grow rooms set up better. I keep hearing how a bit of light is really bad for flowering in the dark period so I am making it pitch black.

Indoors you don’t want any light all during the dark period.
Yes, I have read that several times but it never made sense to me because the moon can be so bright I figured all plants would be fairly tolerant of that meaning they didn't evolve in nature in total darkness. But after watching that guy in the video with all the good information I'm taking it seriously. It's something that's easy that won't cost hardly anything that seems to make a real difference. Besides my space will be much better utilized once I'm better organized. I spend a lot of time in there and this way there will be a lot more open space in both the flower area and vegging area.

It’s whatever the plant is subjected to from germination. Outdoors they do get some ambient light but they acclimate to it.
Oh, that is interesting. Have wondered that a while, thanks.

You can read up on it, but that’s the way I understand it.
Nope, I'm sold. I am going to arrange it so they get dark, dark.
