Homer's Legal 4-Plant Max Perpetual Minimalist Garden In Ontario

:cheesygrinsmiley: Hi!

And after looking at the pics, another thing occurs to me. The trichs on older leaves will always amber first - they're older. So keep that in mind. If the new stuff looks all good, you can let it ride some more.

(And make sure your magnification is high enough. Lower mag can make reflections look like amber.)

Before I respond to all the generous advice I received about my trichs I have to show my day's work. Not sure when I will harvest I thought I might start the trimming process of leaves while leaving the buds on the plant because I want to take a nice pic with just buds before I harvest and it went so well I finished the job.

It was really a pleasure to trim because all but a very few of the flarfiest were worth keeping because even if there wasn't much in the way of Bud all the sugar leaves were covered in trichs in most of the lower ones. Very happy with this plant; definitely a feather in the cap for Dr. Seeds.

In the first pic I put a 420 Magazine lighter at the base of the trunk for scale. So this pic is just Bud trimmed as much as I am going to besides removing from the branches.

From the top view, you can see I am holding up the one main secondary because once I let the string undone that was holding the whole plant upright, to trim, the weight of the buds on the branch split it so I am holding it up with a piece of 2x4 that you can't even see in the first pic because of the wall of buds. For some reason, there are way more buds on one side of the plant which is the side that has always been in the back so I wasn't photographing its best side all along so I turned it around for these pics.

I didn't think I would break my 10 oz record of my NL with this plant when it first started budding but I am thinking now there is a good chance I will. :)

Homer, Is the GG still throwing out white pistils? Are most of the pistils orange, red or brown? I watch the trichomes before chop but first watch pistil production and changes before I break out the scope.

Several weeks ago all my pistil's were red or brown except a little tuft on top of my biggest bud but even that went brown about a week ago so nope they are all brown now. Good point, thanks.

I recommend taking & quick-drying some samples to see where you like it. This is a great example of why I maintain that trichome color is a bad way to judge harvest time for a NEW strain. Best is to take samples and, when it's where you want it, note the trichome color mix, chop, and the NEXT time you grow a cutting of that same strain, you'll know when to harvest based on trichome color.

Excellent advice but I don't smoke instead exclusively I make tinctures now so that makes it a more involved process to do a quick test. It could be done but one of my first harvests of NL I harvested at intervals of eight, 10 and 12 weeks and with the different samples I couldn't tell any difference so I think whenever I harvest now or in a week I will be happy with the results.

Ha. I never even thought to look for them either. You and I appear to be on a similar harvest schedule Homer. I’ve been looking at trichs every day since I want exactly what you want in your high. You’ve got that super duper magnifier - do you think maybe you are seeing the amber “better” with it and perhaps earlier than with a lesser tool? Hopefully that makes sense?

Yes, that makes perfect sense, BooWho2. I am definitely seeing the amber along with the clear and cloudy much better but whether that means any earlier I can't really say that it does. My old system with my iPhone shooting through my 60 times loupe I think told the same story just not as clearly. With my superduper magnifier and the adjustable base I made it's pretty easy for me to quickly look over an entire sample so maybe I get a more comprehensive view than I did before.

Thought you might find this quote interesting. It is from tonight on @InTheShed ’s journal.

That was interesting because I never thought of the plant producing new trichs at this point. That's why I'm not certain; I do seem to have a lot of clear along with a fair number of amber so maybe the amber are being replaced? I don't know but it was an interesting comment. I will keep it in mind when I inspect next time.

Thank you GreatTail. I do try to take my samples from different parts of the plant so I will keep that in mind. Appreciate the tips. :Namaste:

Stacked like a friggen beast.
Yup, she ended up being a strong late finisher. Even though that first pic is of its good side so it is a little flattering.

Great group effort but really your the grower Homer you made all the decisions awsome job keep up the great work!
He's humble and has a hard time accepting credit where it's due. I swear he's Canadian.

If you take yourself too seriously and can’t laugh at yourself everyone will do it for you behind your back.
