HID Grow - Revenge of the Kittens

Re: CriMson's HID Grow- Revenge of the Kittens

is ur girl she seen spider mites? they are really hard to see with just the human eye. very very small evil little fu%kers. i had them one time and it took down my whole crop very fast, once you see them webbing then u have it real bad. i use a bomb in my room and it just pissed them off and they took it out on my plants, so i harvested and put a no pest strip in my room left the room sealed for about 2 weeks and never seen them again, i always use a new fresh pest strip on every grow now. haven't see they yet. it made me allot smarter now i go into my room but ass naked..lol. never want to deal with those again

The first sign of mites is little white spots randomly placed on the tops of the leaves. They, like other bastards strike from the undersides of the leaves but their activity is seen from the damage they do. If you can, flip the leaf over and look for little black dots (live mites), or little light-yellow globes. Almost the same as resin glands on your buds but the egg cases of the mites. Thrips will leave clear, window-like spots on the leaves and eggs are laid at the apex of the leaf "fingers" and show up as little black spots in a cluster.

I'm almost ready to make my grow area a "clean room". As a chemist with years of experience in hazardous waste disposal and thousands of hours of "safety" meetings that I wrote the script for most of the brainless brown-nosers that sucked the corporate tit I can figure it out for sure.

I found some HEPA vacuum cleaner bags in Canadian Tire for $10 that once cut open will give me a lot of cheap filters for my clean room.

I have lots of good, cheap ideas stuck up in the attic on how to keep your grow running good without breaking the bank so don't be afraid to ask. The worst that could happen is that I might talk your ear off.

Love your grow man! Oscar performance for sure!!! :bong:

:peace:

If we ever move from here, I too have envisioned a sealed, white, sterile clean room for growing. I want to be able to control all aspects of the growing enviroment. Leave as little to chance as possible. Even thought of windows for viewing, with blinds in between the glass, so I don't have to have traffic inside the grow space when friends come to visit. Filter the air going in and out, tape off all the seams so no critters can crawl or sneak their way in. Even seal the electrical entrances to prevent a pathway for critters.

Re: CriMson's HID Grow- Revenge of the Kittens

Thanks for your info LabRat. These little things are super small, just a spec, and they're a bright red color.. Looking up bugs online, we found red spidermites which are the closest to what these things looked like.. Haven't seen any of them around the plants, so I'm safe for now.

A bit of bad news.. Friday I go to water everything and I'm looking over the runt for any additional balls, and I found another cluster on a side branch, with open flowers that had already dropped pollen on the leaves below it.. That was it, I put the plant in another room and I'm leaving it in the dark for a week or two to let it kick out as many trichs as possible, then it's going under the knife for an early harvest. It's not worth risking the other ones.

I cut a test branch just to see if the buds were developed enough to be worth smoking, and I got a nice subtle indica buzz from it.. I'm hoping the extra week and a good dry will make for some alright smoke in the meantime so I can slow dry all of the 3 ladies.

Stay tuned for a pictorial

Re: CriMson's HID Grow- Revenge of the Kittens

These will be too scarey for the cats to atack this time around Im sure.

How long does the strain suggest flowering for on average?

(with my thermometre, I now stick it to the top of a stick or ruler and plant it in the pot so that it is in line with the top of the plants)

Re: CriMson's HID Grow- Revenge of the Kittens

WOW!!! Bro, you sold me on making the switch to HID from CFL's....theres no way my CFL grow can touch what your are going to yield! I wanna come to Pistolvania for this harvest! :bravo:

Re: CriMson's HID Grow- Revenge of the Kittens

Not sure honestly, it's a bagseed mix.

Good idea for the thermometer, I can't get an accurate reading and generally just use it for humidity.. I haven't had any issues with temps. As it sits, it gets a steady 80f with the lights on, 90f when the fan isn't blowing on the light. Plants are loving it though, I have the tops less than 6" from the light and they're not showing any signs of it being too hot so I lucked out there lol

Re: CriMson's HID Grow- Revenge of the Kittens

I checked on the hermie today, its getting pretty trichome covered, so i think the darkness is really helping it pump out as much potency as possible.

I'm probably going to use most of this plant for edibles anyway, so I'm not too concerned.
